In the "The Scheme Team" episode, Agatha said the new official gym leader for the Viridian Gym hasn't arrived yet. In the Pokemon Stadium 2 and the Pokemon G/S/C game, Gary was the new Viridian Gym Leader. Do you think that Gary might be that new gym leader in the anime's Viridian Gym since Gary is the new leader in Pokemon Stadium 2 and in G/S/C?

Whilst Gary's gone to researching and all, it would make sense.

Since he is the gym leader in:
- Pokemon Stadium 2
- G/S/C
- Manga

...so, you would think that he would be. Alas, the writers tend to suprise us, so expect anything.

There might be a possibility of this but i doubt it, gary followed in the footsteps of his grandfather and became a prof, studying ancient pokemon on an island somewhere. Good idea never the less.

Gary isn't the Gym Leader in Stadium 2. That's Blue. And they're not the same character.
The fact that Gary's future career aspirations of becoming a scientist in any given field of pokémon reaserch has been emphesised in both his departure episode and the Hoso are indication enough of him never returning to the battle scene.

And there's the fact that his va left the crew. Meaning the chances of him ever coming back are nil.

Though that would be cool, it seems Gary is written out of the series. I wonder if they'll show who will take over the gym though.

Maybe Ash will take over the gym, and leave the show for ever, making way for Tracey to step up as the new main characte.... oh, I'm sorry, I thougt this was the "ideas that will never happen" tread.

I doubt they'll ever show us who the new gym leader is, considering it really doesn't matter anymore. No main character is going to travel through Kanto getting badges again, so who ever is picked won't have any real effect on the show

I was wondering this same thing today when I rewatched the episode. I think the Gym Leader will be a new character once the 4th Generation comes out or something like that. It's not like the anime will ever mention this whole Viridian Gym thing again, but it's worth a say.

I thought Giovanni was the old Viridian Gym leader in Kanto. But he didn't show up in the battle against Ash. I think he ordered Jessie to battle Ash and lend his Pokemons because he got work to do. But actually the old gym was broken down. And now is a new one. Is Agatha the new Virdian Gym leader or she is a Elite 4 trainer?

Both. She's a member of Elite 4 who's acting as leader of the Viridian Gym while a new leader is being found.

Gary is Ash's RIVAL and ash beat him in the Johto league. it wouldnt be fair for him to become gym leader. maybe one of Giovanni's seconds...

No, Gary is going to continue researching Pokemon. I think the new Gym Leader will be someone will never be shown

Actually if you think about it... isn't it unfair that Agatha is the temporary gym leader in Viridian? I mean, she even originally didn't tell Ash that she was an Elite 4 so that he wouldn't get nervous or whatever.

How is that fair to trainers trying to get that badge to qualify for the Kanto Pokemon League?

You could say "Tough luck", but still... =o

It is likely she would use a Pokemon of an appropriate level. Falker back in Johto was the first Gym Leader (by game standards), yet in the anime he had a Pidgeot that up to the level of Charizard.
