I need advice with starters

Abysmal

Lock and load
Ok, I decided to restart my Mystery Dungeon. I need help deciding who will be my team. Right now I'm thinking of getting Cyndaquil and Tododile as my partner. Also I need suggestions on a later on parnter that won't take to long to level up. By the way I have blue version.

< That's me! Hello!
All the first form starters level up reletivly fast so there isn't anything I could suggest to you...Except for Treecko. Rock tomb to Giga Drain to Airial(sp?) Ace, Treecko's usally got the sulution(sp?) to a problem so keep him in mind if your getting someone else.

I suggest Getting Squirtle and Chikorita for future diffrences.

Charmander+Mudkip rox!

MNU spreads lies
I say just get the two Pokémon you like the best. That's what I did (Eevee+Cyndaquil and Skitty+Charmander). It's a bit disheartening to see other people choose their starter and partner only based on what other people think and/or which are the easiest to max out/are the strongest/ect.

Well, my strategy is Meowth. Here's why.

Pickup ability, if you don't equip an item, you get a free item of random sort every floor. Immensely helpful, since its usually an edible of some sort, like the dungeons gummi or apples.

Need Money? Meowth learns Pay Day, when you defeat enemies using this attack, they turn into money! Fear not, they can still join you after they've been coined.

You can also learn Faint Attack by leveling up, 100% accuracy and owns ghost types, and I personally prefer Shock Wave from a TM. Sure hit electric attack, fries the legendary birds from a distance!

I recommend Mudkip as a partner, as he smites electric types with mud slap and can learn surf and dive, which means you don't have to train up a new water type.

It's up to you though, items and riches, or something else. It's up to you in the end.

i suggest if you get water, grass or fire starter, get the type you can beat so it can beat your weaknesses

example :- you as chickorita and having a water partner like squirtle to kill off fire types for you like moltres especially

Pikachu is a good starter as it has advantages over most of the bosses. And a Grass starter with Bullet Seed KO EVERYTHING (My Treecko 4HKO a Salamence all at once with Bullet Seed)

I like cheerios.
Absymal, your starter combo is fine. My best friend used it. Uhh... A good non trained partner is a Poliwag at 50 in Northwind Field's first 5 floors. Evolve it onve and again with a Water Stone for a 5 min, lv. 50 Poliwrath. Been there, done that.

I'd recommend starting with the pokemon who's house you like the most. Think about it. You can change your leader pokemon at any time, but the house you are stuck with for the whole game. And you see it a fair bit. I was originally going to use Cyndaquil, but I didnt like the look of his house. So I went for Mudkip instead (who was going to be my partner).

But yeah, apart from that just use the ones that you like the most. The game is pretty easy, so it wont matter a huge deal which one you choose (as far as choosing the best ones go).

I say Mudkip and Pikachu. Pikachu levels up really fast, and Mudkip is almost as fast.

I'm with Meowth and Cyndaquil.

Only problem I had was with Articuno.
Kind of embarassing. I just wasn't high-leveled enough.

ALL the starting Pokémons are great choices. They all have thier own ways to destroy bosses. That is why Chunsoft allowed the player to be transformed into one of those Pokémons. If Chunsoft had allowed every Pokémon, then people who transformed into a Wurmple or Magikarp will have trouble in the begining of the game since you can't evolve. Just answer the questions truthfully, and get whatever starter you get. Then select the best partner that go with it. Also in this game, there are other facilities to help you out, such linked moves so that you can destroy foes even with weak Pokémons or attacks. So don't worry about what you get, because all those starters can be used to play the game effectively.
