I think the bottom one is better, the 2D blends in with the background more than the 3D in this banner ; )

If you're using Adobe and find it hard to cut out, try selecting Magnetic lasso and set the tolerance to a lower value, the first time won't come out perfect, but after the first selection, Hold CTRL and you should a "+" in the lasso picture.

Then while holding, click onto areas to make them perfect, to subtract, hold "ALT" instead.
