I have been doing some experiments to learn how exactly does EV work. The game mechancis page has a good explanation, but still I can't get it. I have caught a wild lairon at level 44 and, as it didn't had any effort point, I went to the whismur cave to do some experiments just by training one level and reseting the game (so I was sure it was the same pokémon, at the same level and without any effort point).
1st - I have given a rare candy to lairon, and it has gained one level and this stats:
HP -> +2
At. -> +2
Def. -> +3
Sp. At. -> +2
Sp. Def. -> +1
Speed -> +1
2nd - I have fought against whismurs until lairon has gained one level. It has defeated 79 whismur before getting one level. The stats results have been the same as with the rare candy except for hit points, because whismur gives 1 EV:
HP -> +10
3rd - I have equipped lairon with the macho brace so it get twice effort values per battle. The result:
HP -> +19
4th - I have equipped lairon with the macho brace and I have one of my pokérus pokémon battle in the team until lairon has been infected. Then, with macho brace and pokérus, lairon has gained one level:
HP -> +30
Well, it's obvious that you get a lot more effort points with macho brace and pokérus, but suposedly, you gain one point for each 4 effort values you get. Since I had to defeat 79 whismurs to reach the next level, how do I calculate the points gained with effort values? I'm a bit confused with all this. If someone could explain it to me...
