Lost Fan
Alright I'm on my first ever playthrough of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and I'm stuck big time. I'm up to the part where you need to disarm the bombs with the coolant and I found a bomb in the upper right hand corner of a mirror in the women's bathroom on Strut C. I go to spray it with the coolant by pressing square with it equipped and nothing happens. I hold the square button as hard as I possibly can and all I see is Raiden pushing the coolant out foward with his hand and no ice or spray comes out whatsoever. It's like something is suppose to come out but it doesn't. I've tried doing it multiple times with different methods, even tapping the square button repeatedly while holding R1 simultaneously. I've even tried doing this with a different controller and to no avail, nothing. I can't even spray it towards the air or at a guard.
Is this some weird glitch with the game (or should I say my friend's copy of the game)? My friend told me that he had the same problem and remembers getting fed up and was about to destroy his PS2 until he figured out the problem. Unfortunately, he doesn't remember what he did to solve it. I posted about my problem at GameFAQs and all I got were insults stating that I have a "low IQ" and that it's "so simple".
I'd appreciate the help if someone is willing to help me out.
