I REEEEAAAALLY hope that this isn't just an "add-on" to Hoenn...

...Just like how GSC was just like an "add-on" to Kanto. The worst thing they can do is make you able to re-visit Hoenn, and crapify the new region in the process. So far, this gen is just looking like an add-on (Wth five connections to previous gens already?). Sigh...so much hope...

Going back to Kanto was the highlight of GSC. The 16 badges is why it's liked so mutch.

The primary reason we have so many pre-evos and evos is because it was announced way back when in the interview conducted by CoroCoro. Of course, we don't know how many of them we will make considering we only have a small sampler of this generation's delights.

As others have said this is slated to take place in a brand-new region. The only connection to other regions which we can confirm is the presence of older Pokemon and the ability to trade to and from other regions through R/S/FR/LG/E.

You have got a point though. Kanto always felt like so much more thought and care had gone into it, whereas Johto, did feel smaller, more contained If it wasn't for that Sudowoodo you could have got to Goldenrod in a matter of minutes from New Bark Town. Hmm...

New Bark Town
Cherrygrove City
Violet City
Azalea Town
Goldenrod City
Ekruteak City
Olivine City
Cianwood City
Mahogany Town
Blackthorn City
The Same Indigo Plateau from the first games
Vermillion City
Celadon City
Saffron City
Lavender Town
Fuchsia City
Cerulean City
Pewter City
Viridian City
Pallet Town

You need to calm down and realize that only 9 pokes have been revealed so far. 4 of them are brand new and have nothing to do with the previous gens. Evos and pre-evos of old pokemon so far shouldn't be a shock to you, but don't jump into conclusion thinking that that is what the majority of the 4th gen pokes will be of. :-/

I think it'd be awesome if a game took place in Johto, but that's just my G/S fanboyism is all. HOWEVER, Kanto has appeared in Generation I, II, and III- is it possible we'll see the area directly north of Kanto? Probably not, but if they intend to continue with Kanto in every generation-- which admittedly they might not, it's probably run its course, it would be interesting to see this region's proximity to it.

Actually, there are 14 pokemon revealed, and 9 are new, 5 have been in other games.

its possible that all the pre-evos are being shown first and that the new types will be released later

in other words dont worry about the ratio of pre-evos to new poke's cos theres hopefully nothing but completely new poke's from now on

14, where'd you come up with that number? O_O
Let's see
Rukario
Munchlax
Manene
Bonsly
Manyula
Manafi
Perrapu
Tamanta
Buizeru

^I count NINE.

What I meant was that out of the 9 revealed pokes, "4" of them have nothing to do with previous gens. Here I'll bold them for you.(read list again)

Yes, nine new, five old. The old that will be in the game are obviously Snorlax, Mr. Mime, Sudowoodo, Sneazle, and Mantine.

Not necessarily. It's possible that we may need to trade Snorlax in from FR/LG/XD and breed to get Munchlax. I doubt GF would be that mean, but it's a possibility. We know NOTHING of the Pokémon we will find in D/P; only the newly designed, fourth-generation Pokémon which we will be able to own in D/P.

Under my "time hypothesis" (note the word, hypothesis), D/P can be one of three things:
-A "true" sequel to Ruby/Sapphire
-G/S/C remakes
-Something totally new with no past regions accessible.

The first is unlikely considering the new Pokémon related to existing lines, thus far, are all related to First- and Second-gen lines; no Third-. Their style (excluding possibly Parrap) isn't at all tropical, either.

It's a commercial disaster to start a new "product cycle," which Pokémon generations can be thought of in terms of, without introducing many new features, so G/S/C remakes are out of the question as well. (though maybe later ;))

This leaves us with them being something totally new with no connections to existing regions. There can't be any connections to Kanto/Johto since G/S/C is going on in there. If my time hypothesis is correct, this means that we will be getting G/S/C remakes; just not first thing.

I hope that they put in one good region in it and that's Fiore. I hate having to go to past regions because they are so easy.

The only reason that Johto and Kanto in G/S/C were "crapified" was because there wasn't enough space to hold both regions. Now, due to the fact that marvels in science and technology allow people to hold 5 gigabytes in the palm of their hands, and that GBA games were only 16 mb, I'd assume that on the game cards that hold the data for the new DS games will be enough to hold two or three regions.

I think that 2 or 3 is an understatement. With that much technology, Nintendo could make 5 regions and make the game Animal Crossing-esque(sp?).
