I think my Everstone ran out of juice...

I know that the mathematical probability of an Everstone-carrying Ditto passing its nature onto progeny is 50% on Emerald. But it still seems weird that out of 50 Shroomish bred, (Everstone-holding Adamant Ditto x male Shroomish) only 6 of them were Adamant. I double-checked my Ditto halfway through, and it was indeed an Adamant Ditto holding an Everstone- and yes, I was playing Emerald. I know that mathematically this is certainly possible (albeit improbable) but considering that I've done massive amounts of breeding with this Everstone- at least 200 Pokemon bred- is it possible that Everstones lose their effectiveness over time?

I agree with MM dumb luck can happen all the time... I played through a battle pike twice in a row and the whole time I found I guy who was lost... all 14 of them... also first 7 or so pokemon into emerald... 3 shinies... only managed one because I hadn't gotten pokeballs yet... gawd... oh well... It's just luck... if you hatch 50 eggs it doesn't mean exactly 25 would be adamant... if you flip a coin 50 times it could get 50 tails... etc...

It's an interesting feeling, though, isn't it? About a week ago, I noticed that some of my year-old Nest Balls could hardly catch a Zigzagoon Lv20! But, I don't think this is the case, because other items like berries would rot after a set amount of days, for istance. So I'm almost completely sure that time or amount of usage does not affect an item.

No, I'm sorry, it's just... well, this is mathematically an even chance, but the chance of catching an alternately coloured Pokemon is 1/8192 as we all know. And even though this is a relatively small chance, it is extremely likely that after a large ammount of attempts, you will see the shiny. However, it's been ... just over 17 months and I have not been able to see a shiny Rayquaza all the time.

It was just bad luck. Everstones don't lose effectiviness.
Btw, mathematically it isn't impossible. You only bred 50 times. If you bred like 2000 and the number of adamant pokemon was 200, imagine, then your game would have some problem...

Wait, you said a male Shroomish. I think that breeding trick only works when you use a female and a Ditto.

Also, was the Shroomish Adamant as well? I think children can inherit natures from either parent, and perhaps it kept on selecting the Shroomish's nature (if it even works with male Pokemon, which from my understanding it does not).

It might be possible the ever stone stopped working. I've had a lvl.30 bulbasaur holding an everstone and then he evolved! I didn't realize until it was too late!
NOW I"M STUCK WITH A Lvl. 31 IVYSAUR!!! :p I think it may be a glitch.
(Also it might not help my pokemon was traded and the everstone gotten through a cheating device!:D

Not true. No. No. No. Just luck. And no again.

1) Cheating devices do not change as much as many people think. They change a variable or two, but they don't alter complete events just out of the blue.

2) So why are you posting this then? If you did use a cheating device, who cares? We only want to hear normal, in-game glitches and weird things.

I had the same problem. It's really annoying to have a Brave Rydon and a Brave Swampert holding an everstone, lay eight eggs and have none of them being brave.
I usually make sure it's the female/ditto acting as female, who holds the stone. I think it works better, but I really have no proof.

Sorry, but I don't see your point. I'm talking about the probability of hatching an Adamant Pokemon in Emerald when the Adamant Ditto is holding an Everstone; you're talking about the probability of a shiny.

You speak of mathematical probability as your friend... well I have a different opinion. The text you quoted me on doesn't serve any other point except to tell you that mathematical chance is just mathematical chance. You could hatch 90000000 eggs to find only 1 adamant Pokemon. On the other hand, all of them could be adamant. So it's just plain Math.random() doing what Math.random() does. :)

Ok only a female (when NOT breeding with ditto) or a ditto can pass natures... 50% or nothing (well 4% I guess...)... but with a ditto the other don't matter...
