Ok,I go to my sprite thread, and it sayd I have a MSN name. I don't have an MSN name! I go edit my profile, and someone changed my birth date and typed in an MSN name!! Does anyone know who did this? I really need help here! I'm confused! :confused:

What you do is that you change your password and tell an admin about this. GO! CHANGE YOUR PASS NOW BEFORE THE HACKER DOES! And get rid of/fixed whatever the bugger did to your profile. I feel sorry for ya man, I really do.

It could have easily been and Admin. On the Admin Control Panel you are able to change literally anything about a user except stuff like IPs which cant be changed at a person's will very easily. So someone either
1)Got straight into your account and changed it through the User Control Panel
OR
2)Managed to guess the password of an Admin and got into the Admin Control Panel through www.serebiiforums.com/admincp . However, there are Admin logs in the Admin cp, so they will be able to track which admin's account was used to change your details and what they did.

If this did not happen through the Admin cp, the admins can still see what IP was used when your details were changed, and then they can do a member search and see which member has that IP (unless the person has not got his own account on the forums).

Everything will be okay. Dont worry...

It would probably be a good idea to use a complex password, something that only you would know, also preferably at least ten characters long. that way, you'll know what your password is (since it's not something random) and they won't! also, it might help to refrain from using anything POKeMON related in there. the first thing most hackers will usually do is guess randomly using the main topic of the site/forums.

However, if they use a hacking 'machine' (its not really a machine, but it the best way to describe it so most people will understand), it will try all the passwords possible, until it gets the right one. That is how hacking works really. Obviously, this can take days, but it may also take minutes (as it is all random). it is true that a lot of the time, the programs will start trying all the shorter passwords, before advancing to longer passowrds, thus, the longer the password the better (thats what you IT teachers trying to say).

It seems odd that your account was hacked....I run a forum myself and for someone to have access to an Admin account is very rare I think Serebii would of made the Admin CP more secure then what your saying users.
My best advice is to use a strong password plus keep the password ONLY to this site in other words make the account password for SPP ONLY!

SHUCKLE MAN? Dude? There's absolutely no reason that any of the active admins would do anything like that. And there are logs, but it wouldn't help if the user has a rotating IP. And, erm, machine? "program" is probably a better way to describe it. :p
And, eh? That's not how hacking works at all. People find loopholes in various scripts that take place( this definition being for only forums) and exploit them. Not guess at passwords. :eek:
