"I Thought It Would Evolve Into...."

Have you ever taken a look at a Pokemon and thought, "I bet I know what the evolved/pre-evolved form of this Pokemon will be like." and just be completely wrong?

I have. When I was thinking about Wobbuffet and how it was patient and didn't know any direct attacks, I noticed its black tail with eye. I thought maybe that tail was some sort of symbiote and that Wobbuffet was actually another sort of Pokemon with a symbiote tail (like how Slowbro is just a Slowpoke with a Shellder on its tail) and that without the symbiote tail, it would be war-like and know tons of attacks.

But I was wrong. Way wrong. Turns out Wobbuffet is born with the black tail and that it starts out as Wynaut. And it still doesn't learn any direct attack moves. Oh well.

What about you? Have you had any theories about a Red/Blue/Yellow/Gold/Silver/Crystal Pokemon and be comepletely wrong?

Please no theories about Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald Pokemon. We don't know about any new evos/pre-evos of any existing R/S/E Pokemon as of now.

Farfetch'd evolved into Doduo
Eevee could evolve into Porygon
Magikarp didn't evolve
Gyarados evolved into Lapras
