I want longer paths to the cities...

I hate how you go through all these different "routes" within almost no time at all. I want it to feel more realistic, as if I'M the one walking through these paths and seeing many things along the way. I began to think of this while watching the anime and noticing how many filler episodes there are, and while these are fillers, it seems more realistic to me that it would take that long including rests and help along the way to get to each town. I know a lot of you might disagree with this, but I just ind that the games are way too short ater G/S, then again G/S had the 2 regions in one game. Anway, sorry if this has been discussed before or if I put this in the wrong forum :)

The biggest complaint about The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker is the excessive sailing and how long it took to get to an island. We don't need to repeat that.

comparing the gameplay of a pokemon game to the gameplay of a Zelda game is like comparing apples to oranges.

Anyway, it isn't the length of the path that would be better, but rather, something more interesting on these said paths. Weither it's an obsaticle you must overcome to get to the next village, or mere eye candy such as the Ashfall of route 113 or the rainy weather of route 123(?)

Well of course I don't want it to be monsterously long, but I don't want them to be too short either. It's haard to explain really :S

I agree with you completely. To add to that, I just hope they'll have larger regions in general. Yes, definitely longer and more eventful paths.

I know that they're routes but it doesn't make sense to me how you can virtually go through in a straight line. I would like to see more obstacles and trees that force me to go around them to get to a city. G/S had routes like this. I don't know what GF was thinking when they designed Hoenn. Too many great concepts got dropped.

I also want longer routes. The regions seem way too small and overall, the games should be bigger but I don't think they can make them too big.

Want more obstacles for Pokemon? Try an online game, especially FFXI. There's more obstacles and monsters to beat your a** while trying to get through an area. Pokemon is for handhelds. If Nintendo wanted a big and expansive Pokemon game, the only way is to go online. Wii doesn't have a hard drive, but a computer does. And Nintendo isn't a software developer for computer games. It would only be one if they strike up a deal with Square-Enix since they both have close bonds with one another.

I'd like to see you play as Ash and go through Dragon's Aery in FFXI. The Hyper Notorios Monster, Niddhog (which is a massive dragon), would kick your butt to hell with Spike Flail which has the ability to deal over 2k of damage. I have a picture of 38 people dying from that attack on my laptop XD and most of the people deleveled after getting KOed.

Anyways, if you want a longer Pokemon game with more stuff like side-quests in it, it will be possible on computers or if Wii gets an external hard drive.

From a quick glance, Shinou strikes me as a particularly modern and urbanized place, complete with bustling suburbs and sprawling cities. I do agree that it would be nice to have a longer traveling time between the major hubs in the region, but then again I'm not sure if they can really be made much longer without giving an "empty" feeling to the region: some routes are annoying enough to trudge through, and making them longer will only aggravate us further.

I support the notion, however, of diversifying the content on the regions so that we aren't driven to boredom by their lack of amusing content. However, at the same time I maintain the the main draw of the routes are the Pokemon on it; if you would like to see a diversion from traveling go out into the fields and see what wildlife happens to be there.

Also why are routes always seperating each town? two towns can be together. But I must admit that I do like the routes... They can have good Pokemon.

really you made me think of a great idea, and I also love longer routes and I hope they are not full with trainers, I mean some more nature must do it not more trainers.

The problem with Zelda Wind waker was there was nothing to do in the sea, it was long sea territories with nothing to do, in Pokemon you could have long routes (for example a forest or a mountain) with a lot of trainers to battle with, Pokemon to look for and why not, some puzzles to solve.

It can be interesting if they do it well, also a nice challenge if your pokemon are tired of battles and no Pokecenters around.

I agree. But are Game Freak prepared to add in the scenery needed to keep people interested? That is the question.

Apart from that, another benefit of longer routes (apart from more realistic gameplay) is that you are forced to train more, putting your pokemon up levels faster than they usually would.

DJ Will, Zelda =/= Pokemon. The end.

It would be fun to go through many things between town or cities, and it is a good idea. But I think it takes a lot of space and they can't make them so big routes with many things, but DS games gave more space than the ones in GBA and maybe the Region will be bigger, and I hope it does.
Little events like in Anime maybe will be some, butnot so much because the game shouldn't be soooo long.

The routes should be larger, though I'm usually impatient to get to the next city. But I do agree.
I also think they should make cities larger. Compare the cities in the game to the ones in the anime. See the difference? And there's only 2 normal houses in all of the games, except G/S/C.

Actually, the routes in Hoenn are much longer than the ones in Red, Green. Blue, Yellow, Gold, Silver, and Crystal. I mean, in to old Kanto games, you only walk for about 3 seconds to get from Saffron to Celadon. And it only takes a minute to get from Ecruteak to Mahogany by surfing in Johto.

But bigger and longer routes will only be good the first time. When you go through them again, it will be tedious and repetitive.

Yeah, in my Crystal, when I had to deliver that package, I got mad going through the same route so many times. And it was pretty long. The longest Route in Hoenn that I know of is the one connecting Fortree to Lilycove. That's one's really long...
Hopefully by the second time going through the route you'd have Fly.

Hopefully, if D/P does in fact have longer routes, then it should be kept to the distance from Protractor Path to Cycling Road, not something as long as the Fortree-Lilycove one.
