You need the old sea map to go to faraway island to catch it. I think this was only given out in japan, though...

You'll need either Action Replay or Gameshark to use the teleport code to get to the Faraway Island, to catch mew Legally.

*Grumpf* Faraway map? There are no islands on it! Faraway Island is where you catch MEW.

The Old map takes you to Faraway Island where Mew is.

The Old map only takes you to Faraway Island if you want to get access to the other Island, such as Navel Rock, You will need a "Mysitic Ticket" which is available from a Nintendo special event.

youre thinking of Navel Rock. You can catch both Lugia and Ho-Oh there and only Mew on Faraway Island

Like the Old Map, you can only obtain the Mystic Ticket by a Nintendo Event.
