As you can see there, the dub screwed it up. What the attack is actually called is "Fox Leaf Arrowhead."

Clearly we're great!
Besides, Renamon itself says that Digimon don't have genders (at least in Tamers they don't)

Pearl Plasma sounds good to me. Alliterations rock.

However, I highly doubt gender differentiations in Digimon. What we hear as a feminine voice is simply a female voice actor, duh. So if guilemon had a female voice actor, (it's) a she?

1. What the hell is so feminine about diamonds and so masculine about pearls? For that matter, other than the upcoming Pokemon games, how do you even relate pearls to diamonds?
2. Though it's already been pointed out, "Diamond Storm" is just the English name. In the Japanese version, it's "Ko You Setsu" (Fox Leaf Arrowhead). And again, what's so feminine about that?
3. Just clearing this up. Blackjack Gabbiani may've stated that Digimon don't even have genders, but they clearly seem to fit into some gender roles (as well as gender-specific designs) nontheless.
4. For the record, Renamon is a male in the German dub. As for "his" attacks, in the clips I've seen, it sounds to be a German translation for "Diamond Storm" (sounded like "Diyamehten Stohm").
5. Actually, undisputed_seraphim, Guilmon and his evolutions do have a female seiyuu in the Japanese version.
6. Why the f*** isn't this thread closed yet? It was clearly created by someone who couldn't be arsed to do a little research and is therefor asking a question based on false information (and wild assumptions on sexual representation). With said false info cleared up, I don't see a point to this thing any longer.

Digimon > Pokemon
I don't think Renamon would really have a different name for an attack if it was male. And like what some other people have said, in Tamers Renamon actually said Digimon don't have genders.

I think they just for the most part (mind you, there are exceptions. [spoil]Like in tamers when the one girl got Lionmon(sp?) as her Digimon[/spoil]) they just have the digimon's attitude and for some appearence (voice as well) depend on the person it goes with.

In most cases, the boys will have digimon that digimon that have somewhat male is personality, voices, ect (at least to a sterotype on how a boys personality is). As well as girls having digimon that are more feminin(sp?).

As I said, there are exceptions to this, I'm also going by the dub because I have yet to see any of the Digimon series subbed/raw... So if I'm wrong feel free to correct. ^^

Digimon aren't prepared (or "destined") ahead of time specifically for a human partner... this only applied in Adventure (but not 02), otherwise, pairing up with a human with the same sex, and maybe even similar personalities, is just a coincidence. I think, for the most part, the writers just make the human/Digimon partnerships fall into something of a stereotype with friendships mostly being same-sex. There have been several exceptions, though: aside from the afforementioned Juri and Leomon, there was also Miyako and Hawkmon, Suichong and Lopmon (Lopmon's a male in the original version), Ai (along with Makoto) and Impmon, and some of the 02 international Chosen Children.
