The name of Kid Icarus for NES is Kid Icarus: Angel Land Story. The one for Gameboy is called Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters. What would you call one for Wii?
Off the top of my head, I'd call it something like Kid Icarus: Angel Land Saga.
From the normal Kid Icarus games, there are 3 items which you could obtain: Sacred Bow, Mirror Shield, and Wings of Pegasus. It's like Zelda - each allows you abilities which you wouldn't otherwise have.
The levels were like Mario. There are 3 normal levels and then a boss level. They played a lot like Ice Climber if you have ever played those, mixed with Metroid. Wikipedia states that Kid Icarus used the same engine as Metroid.
Pit, the main character, used a bow as a main weapon. He had to climb to the top of a level and enter the final door to complete it. It was a platforming game.
Now, for a Wii incarnation of Kid Icarus, they should most obviously do to Kid Icarus what they did to Zelda and Metroid. They could add a puzzle solving element, and obtainable items like new wings and stuff.
Remember that before A Link to the Past, Zelda was mostly about defeating all enemies in a room and proceeding to the next one, only using items ocasionally. There were very few puzzles per dungeon, and almost every one was moving a block a single space up or over. A new Kid Icarus game could definitely get a revamp that alters it as much as A Link to the Past altered Zelda.
Perspective should be from right behind Pit. You could control his bow with the Wiimote and move with the analog stick. You draw back the bow like you do in Twilight Princess. There should be at least 4 stages of arrows.
A simple Zelda clone would not do, however. There would need to be platforming elements to set it apart, some reason for people to play it over Zelda.
So, if there were such a game, what would you imagine it to be?
