Ideas for making a Pokemon Sports Game Discussion Thread

    shoz999 No! That's impossible!

Now generally when people think what are some of the most unique takes on any type of sport, Mario comes into mind. Shigeru Miyamoto described why he believed Mario could work into any game because they are essentially like actors. If you look at it further, the cartoony world of Mario also melds pretty together with sports. Just look at Mario Tennis Aces, it's Mario and Friends trying to save Luigi from an evil tennis racket. These types of game are like an Adventure Time's plot... correction... Adventure Time is like a Mario plot. With that being said, if you think about it. Pokemon also can work well here too.

I remember someone describing one of the reasons why Pokemon is so appealing is that JRPGs have a handful of characters people choose as there favorites, Pokemon has over 800 characters to choose from as there favorites. 800 characters that can easily play different roles in a Pokemon spin-off, or in this case a sports spin-off. Not to mention the fact that Pokemon's world is arguably one of, if not the most, relatable world in fiction history. Unova is a great example of this showcasing that the Pokemon world still has amusement parks, coffee shops, rap-dancing, ship-rides, bridges, hotels, aquariums, trains, masses of people trying to get to work, painters enjoying nature, cooks wanting the best recipes, children playing in daycare while also maintaining the idea that these magical cute nuclear warheads called Pokemon can coexist with us in this world that is incredibly similar to real life. If you think about it, the entire Pokemon world is like it's own character.

Besides the fact that there are both real-life and Pokemon-themed sports in the Pokemon world, there are also a bunch of unique areas from frost-covered islands to electromagnetic caves to massive ancient towers that can also be served as areas for sports! Why would anyone want to use these seemingly dangerous areas for sports. For plot-unspecified reasons! With that being said, the Pokemon World is practically PERFECT for all sorts of sports video games, from regular football to even American football! Although it is unlikely to happen given GameFreak, or possibly Nintendo or the Pokemon Company's, strange record of not continuing many successful Pokemon spinoffs like the Snap and Ranger series, we can always dream of the idea happening!

What kind of Pokemon Sports Game do you want?
Do you want it fast and vicious-looking like Mario Strikers or do you want it fun and charming-looking like Mario Tennis? What kind of sport do you want to focus on? What kind of Pokemon location do you want to take advantage of for a baseball field, court, race track, some kind of sports field you want for a particular sports? Should there be some kind of gimmick like stage hazards or items or maybe even status effects like burn slowing a Pokemon's hit power or poison slowing down a Pokemon's speed. What kind of classes would there be? What NPCs, like the referee or the sports announcer/host, do you want Pokemon or even famous human characters to play as. Let your imagination go wild! Heck, if you don't like the idea of making imaginary games, then think of it as world-building of what sports would be like in the Pokemon world! Maybe you want to focus more on the fictional Pokemon-themed sports like Pokeathlon! The Pokemon world has so many possibilities for a sports game.
