But he only has one Electric type Pokemon and even as strong as Pikachu is I don't think it would make a good gym battle Pokemon by itself.

I'm assuming that if he ever decided to run his own Gym with Electric-types as the theme, he'd capture a few more of them so that he wouldn't only have to rely on his Pikachu.

Fire. He may own more Flying types but his Fire types are the only example where all of them are remarkable Pokemon(Except Talonflame, but he's more of a bird), and one of them is his literal most powerful Pokemon while another is one of his strongest as well.
If you put Charizard, Infernape, Incineroar, Quilava, Torkoal, and Pignite on the same team... it'd go very well.

Fire but that's too predictable. Grass would be better because Ash has Bulbasaur, Bayleef, Sceptile, Torterra and some other strong grass types and maybe his Snivy could evolve too.

Grass could work I suppose since there are a lot of Grass-types staying at Okido-hakase's lab that Satoshi could use. I think that most fans just prefer the idea of him using Fire-types because Fire-types are viewed as tougher than Grass-types, and even I think that Fire matches with Satoshi's energetic personality a lot more than Grass.

I'm not gonna lie. I'm honestly kind of surprised that people think Ash's typing should be fire. As a bit of a competitive fan myself, I think Ash's expertise in typing should absolutely be electric. Now some of you may be confused by this because the only real electric Pokemon Ash had is Pikachu right? Look at it from a competitive standpoint. What is Ash's battling style aside from plot-armor power-ups out of nowhere? Speed, speed, SPEED. Whenever you people discuss which is Ash's weakest Pokemon, you often mention how that Pokemon lacks speed, speed, SPEED like Torterra. To those who are very familiar with the stat distributions with typings, I think some of you can understand why I'm surprised everyone thinks Ash should be a Fire-Type expert since fire-types are more well-known for having slightly tankier heavy hitters with average speed as opposed to Electric-types which are more well-known with having some of the most ridiculously fast but fragile glass cannons of Pokemon.

I think speed as a battling strategy suits Satoshi more than brute strength most of the time, but it's hard for me to imagine him training Electric-types since he's only had one for the past 20 years, and despite how strong Pikachu can be, I don't consider Satoshi to be an expert at Electric-types despite his experience with Pikachu.

He has the most Flying type Pokemon so I picked that, but in terms of strength it would be his Fire type Pokemon. Every region Ash collects at least one Flying type if I'm not wrong.

Tough call. Very tough call.

Fire fits his personality as well as the fact he is the anime counterpart of a character called Red. Plus his connection with Ho-Oh (surprised that wasn't brought up)
Flying connect him to all the different flying types he's had
Fighting is similar to fire in the sense it fits his personality
Grass would be neat since he's had nearly all starters. But only if that gives him a Chespin :p
Dragon is another one that fits him and his personality.
On a more lowkey option, ground is kind of viable for him if you think about. Donphan, Gliscor, Torterra, Gible (with potential to Garchomp) and Krookodile. Dual-typing allows some diversity here (even if Donphan is pure ground)

So I have no idea so my vote would be on him pulling a GSCgame!Blue and having a gym without a type speciality. Or maybe even pokémon of the types pointed above.

On another hand, if Ash was a Frontier Brain, I could see him being a specialist on attack and speed (basically sweepers)

EDIT: forget dragon-types for some reason. So there's another one for the list.

He'd either be a Water, Grass, Fire or Flying specialist because he's got tons of Pokemon of each of those types to choose from for battles.

That moment I found a lifetime treasure
He's handled his fire-type Pokemon the best out of all so i think it is fire-type. I have always since I watched Ash vs Gary in the JL for the 1st time and he ordered Charizard to superheat the field.
