Attraction to children in the early years of puberty (typically seen as 11-14) is considered hebephilia, which of course acting upon would still be illegal because they're still below the age of consent. Ephebophilia is the attraction to teenagers over the age of 14 but below the age of a legal adult. People need to really learn what "pedophilia" really covers before they start debating about these kinds of things.

They generate far more comments than any other subject in less time, they are often left unresolved (leaving room for new threads to begin) and the squabbling sometimes spills into other threads. And I'm pretty sure more people get ran off or banned in these threads than other places...

Pedophilia operates on a different level than homosexuality. Thus, the two can't be comparable in a situation like this, where "one should be alright because the other one is." It doesn't work like that.

So a gay male brain is physically similar to a straight female brain & they also show strong coloration to the cognitive processes (they think like a woman) in many instances.

There is less data available on Pedophile brain structure (as far as I could find), but I would suggest that their brain physiology is somehow different from the "normal" brain for both heterosexual and homosexual brains in some fashion. Since some studies have determined that early aged (15-18 y/o) Pedophiles show a physical attraction to people 4-5 years their junior.

If that is the case, then I put forward that all sexual preference can and probably does stem from the physical composition of their brain. Heterosexuals are the way they are because they have brain "A", homosexuals have Brain "B", Pedophiles have brain "C" and so on.

If that train of logic is followed, pedophiles can eventually try to use many of the same arguments that gays are using to get their equality. There is however the strong social revulsion for any sexual act involving minors. However I point to the fact that some headway has been made in making homosexuality acceptable publicly over the last 40 years. There has been steps taken to desensitize the pedophile stigma by presenting lolicon(sp?) to blur the line of this sexual deviance.

So this is how I see the issue, sexual desire is controlled by the type brain you were born with, and in that, all sexual preference is not in the control of the individual. One can try to suppress their sexual preference, but that is not going to give them the fulfillment they require on a biological level.
