If NPCs EV trained and stuff...

Let's say from now on, the games have NPCs that use competitive items, and EV train. How would this affect your style of play? Would you quit? Would you work harder? And don't think of it like the early NPCs have 510 EVs. The EVs increase the further you progress. In other words, what would you do if the NPCs were competitive battlers like alot of us?

For me, I'd still play. It'd take longer to beat the game but wouldn't give up easily. I'm no EV trainer or breeder in the games, but I'd do my best to beat the game. I only battle at full power on PO.

Banana Knight Arthur

NEGATIVE MINUS
That would make most casual players, and children consequently, quit.

It would be nice for those of us that EV train/IV breed, but harder on those that do not

I don't find a problem with NPC pokemon having EV's. But having them EV trained correctly isn't going to happen soon. I mean, the closest thing we got now is Cynthias team, where all her pokemon have perfect/ all 31 IVs

I'd prefer if they had high IVs, rather than EVs. Giving NPCs EVs would be very unfair, as most players don't EV train while playing through the storyline. I for one certainly don't.

Almost no-one EV trains during the game because it's so much effort to gather the necessarry berries and train for hours in EV training hotspots. With the right moves, good enough levelling and the right decisions the game could easily be completed. I'm not against strong trainers such as Gym Leaders and E4 members using EVs as they're supposed to provide a challenge. But Youngster Joey with fully-EV'd Rattatas will just make casual players(and n00bs) quit.

Not a tool
A lot of the target audience of button-mashing kids would quit because everything suddenly got more complicated. As for me, my play style wouldn't change much. I already grind so much that my pokemon are way above the opponent's, so it doesn't really change anything.

It would be great, and will really give the game a sense of challenge. However, it should be on optional mechanic in order to not alienate new players.

So your saying Pokemon should have a Hard mode? That's... actually not that bad, and could give the game even more replay value than it already has.

That is exactly what I am saying. Better AI = battles become more difficult and sophisticated = game can be enjoyed on more levels. Veteran players will be more satisfied with the experience while new players will be playing with the basic dumb AI that the games currently have to offer. Everyone wins.
