If Pokémon were animals, what ones would you have seen?

I mean, most of us would have seen a kitten or cat before, so Meowth and Persian would be a good example. If something is not actually what the Pokémon is, then just go to the closest relation (such as Pikachu to a mouse, even though it's a pika or whatever).

Pet ferret.. Furret.

See pigeons every day, so Pidgey, and robins/swallows - Taillow.

Small bats: Zubat.

Blackbird/Crows: Murkrow.

Sparrow: Spearow, Heron (once): Fearow(?).

Butterfree, Beautifly, Beedrill etc around here during the summer.

Caterpie, Wurmple (counts as a worm too?)

Perhaps Flareon as my neighbour has a husky and a Jolteon for his golden labrador.

Rapidash for the horses near my house.

Goldeen for the goldfish in my pond. Poliwag, Poliwhirl, Politoad.

Wooper.. friend used to have an axolotl.

What about you? Being you probably live in a different country and all.

hmm..lets see
All the animals you said plus dragonflies..which indicates Yanma

Oh yeah I forgot about dragonflies. Rare to me, Yanma.

Spinarak (spider), Venonat (gnat), Venomoth (moth), Dustox (weird wing moth).

Probably should also include Snubbull and Houndour too.

Hoothoot too, being I see an owl every so often.

Donphan and Rhyhorn at a zoo once.

Ekans at a zoo a few times too, and saw a grass snake once.

When I went to Barcelona and Lanzrote, sawcactus seats and cacti, so Cacnea and Cacturne.

N00b in the dungeon!
My house is in the southern hills of England. It's not the most biodiverse place on earth, but here goes........
Murkrow: On the hilltops, there are often jackdaws that peck around at scraps left by dog-walkers, so I suppose these might bea substitute for them.
Diglett: I've seen a few molehills dotted about the border between the town and the hills. Blegh.
Growlithe: Dog Substitutes..... double blegh.
Pidgeotto: Wood Pidgeon substitutes......... triple blegh.
Meowth: Cat substitutes........ quadruple blegh.
Caterpie: Worm/catepillar substitutes....... pentuple blegh.
Shuckle: I'd have a few living in my compost heap.
Jumpluff: Dandellions.
Out of those, Murkrow, Shuckle, and Jumpluff are the only ones I can tolerate.

I probably have seen all the animal based pokemon types in the animals they're based on. There is a real animal called a pika. My son doesn't refer to bats as bats he calls the golbats. The humanoid and some of the fairy types are just total fabrication. In my collector's book the artist said that they DO base their creatures on reality and that some pokemon are created by a team of artists and then the original artist takes over from them and makes it the unique anime you see on the screen.

Pidgy-Pidgeons
Spearow-sparrows
Rapidash/Ponyta (Plenty of them)

All the bugs.
The cats.

Ekans- A few of them.
Noctowl/Hoothoot
Tentacool
Seal/Dewgong
Entei- lions at the zoo
Raikou- Tigers at the zoo.
Evee/Jolteon/Flareon/Vaporeon/Vulpix/Ninetales/Espeon/Umbreon- Does Nintendo have enough pokemon foxes? o.0

Ok, I'll stop here. I've seen lots and lots of animals and I encounter them everyday. There's too many.
