If there's a 5th gen anime, will the new hero/heroine like contests like may& hikari?

Do you think the hero/herione in the 5th gen anime will be interested in contests?

Do you think that if there's a 5th gen the new hero/heroine will wanna do contests? i'd say no. all we need is another hikari.

Sorry Horndog, but Hikari is a good character.

Anyways, hopefully they won't make the female protagonist a coordinator for 3 gens in a row, though they seem to enjoy repititive actions.

CyberCubed

Yeah, ok!
Hopefully GameFreak has some new quest in the 5th gen games so we don't have to sit through a third female coordinator.

Sitting through two coordinators in a row is bad enough, sitting through three in a row would be laughable.

Well, I sure hope not, since, like some have said, watching contests for three generations in a row wouldn't be so good.

Contests are fun to watch, so I chose that one. But it'd be kinda stupid to have had three main coordinators on the show. May, Hikari, 5th gen girl.

But I love watching contests, and without someone in the main group doing them, we won't be able to watch them anymore then.

Ash fan girl! Cute!
Meh they'll probaly just have some thing else for the fifth generation girl to do.

Hopefully they will, even though they didn't do it for the 4th generation (which they should've done then).

Meh, the writers using the 5th gen girl to do Contests again would just be lazy writing...and that's not an understatement. I'd rather they just keep Hikari to be the coordinator (if Contests are still a feature in the next gen games). Though, knowing the writers, maybe asking to not replace one of Ash's female traveling partners is too much to ask.

If they were just going to keep the same character to do Contests for the 5th gen, then May would have never left. The only reason May was written out was because she was an R/S girl, and the D/P girl advertising Contests in her place is far more marketable.

Now that the writers got rid of May despite her popularity, the popularity of Drew/Harley, and the fact that her character was still entertaining, what makes you think they'll keep Hikari next gen?

The D/P games will be long old by then, and a "D/P girl" like Hikari will probably be deemed no longer marketable when they can instead have the 5th gen girl in it instead.

It really doesn't matter HOW god awful it would be to watch three female coordinators in a row, it all comes down to marketing, so if that's the case, Hikari is as good as gone no matter how popular she is by the end of the 4th gen.

This is why I hope GameFreak has some new quest in the games that are more important than Contests in the 5th gen. Only then would the next female do something new.

The way I see it, unless the writers change their ways or there's a new type of quest, than Hikari is ultimately doomed come a 5th generation. Like CyberCubed said, if they did it with May, what's to stop them from doing it again? If the writers choose advertising over popularity, then she's doomed.

Anyway, I don't see why it's suddenly repetitive when there's the possibility of a third coordinator.

The writers using the 4th generation girl to do contests is lazy writing. So are the destroyed bikes.

Meh... if Hikari stays, I'll just go, "Very well. Now why couldn't you have done this with May? Sigh... oh well." But if she leaves... meh, that's no good. I can't win.

Then there's the possibility of Hikari leaving and a 5th generation girl doing something completely new (meaning there's no contests)... nah...

Me too, but I personally think it's kinda stupid to have two main coordinators on the show.

Nintendo will probably come up with something new for the 5th gen. They've done as much as they can do with contests in the game, IMO.

I guess, though, that would mean a new quest every two generations.

I still doubt Hikari would stay, but still...

The thing is that I would rather they just keep Hikari the next time around instead of just replacing her with another girl performing the same role. Of course, I'm pretty sure that Hikari is just as expendable as May was.

On that note, wouldn't it have been marketable to have also replaced Brock, a character from Red/Blue, with a D/P character? R/S/E is pretty old, sure, but not the way R/B is. Plus, Brock's fanbase is significantly smaller, especially when compared to May's (even in Japan). The writers could have easily have had Ash start on a completely clean slate and advertise the D/P games even better if they had him travel with two brand new characters. Instead, they just keep the stale character and replace May just because the game she is based on is supposedly 'old news'. Tch.

If Hikari had another Pokemon related job, then it would've sat better with me. I liked May very much but I would have loved to have seen another female's adventure as well... if it were original. Yes, Hikari does have some different traits (ex: having always wanted to be a Coordinator, a female rival, etc.), but it doesn't change the fact that she has the same goal as May. I'm hoping that her journey won't go down the same, exact route that her predecessor did...but knowing the way the Pokemon anime works, it probably will. I'm still holding out a little hope that it won't.

Now, before anyone accuses me of being some rabid May fan that's just bitter that she was taken off the show, let me just say that I also wouldn't have liked it if Hikari's goal was to be a Water Pokemon master (like Misty) or wanted to be a Pokemon Watcher (like Tracey). It's the fact that she's slipped into the role of a pre-existing character that's annoying.

What I hope for the fifth generation (if there is one) is that the guy would be the one to appear in the show with Ash. I mean we haven't seen any new guy characters because the girls keep leaving the show (which is sad cuz I like all the girls and I don't want to see one leave again). So, hopefully, there can be a new thing in the games that can be a goal in the anime...(or the anime can just make up a goal like Poke-ringer competitions). That way, we won't have a repetition of coordinators (which gives us a chance to ditch Brock, have an old girl-May or Hikari come back, and have three dreams/goals to watch in the anime).

I know what you're saying, but using that logic then May should have never left for Hikari, since they just replaced May with a character to do the same exact thing.

Of course, I'm pretty sure that Hikari is just as expendable as May was.

Well, they do have a whole series. May was the co-star of AG and Hikari is the co-star of D/P. Misty...while not having as big a role as the other two...had Pocket Monsters. Each series having a different main girl is not so bad if they bring something unique or new to the anime.

In any case, the 5th gen is 4 years from now so it's too early to think about this. 4 years in reality is a long time, so we'll see what happens as we go along. Hikari will be here for 4 years, so we'll see plenty of her before she has to go.

It's stupid to not like Hikari because May had to leave. What's the big deal about Hikari doing the coordinating? She's new and fun to watch that's what's important to the show. It was a bold move that the writers had her do contests instead of giving her a lame job. To superstadff the reason why Brock being able to stay is because he is Ash's best freind. He is funny and maybe even a little better than May was and that's why she was forced off the anime. I do miss her but as the saying goes "out with the old, in with the new".

AHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAA!

May was a gazillion times more popular than Brock when she was on the group, in both Japan and the U.S.

Again, the only reason she left is because the writers were done advertising Ruby/Sapphire, and even though they were still doing Contests, the D/P girl could better advertise the new game than an old R/S girl.

She left because of marketing, not because of her popularity.

contests

Sure maybe the new person would like contests but What if their were poke races to replace the contests ?
You would have a speedy pokemon like deoxys and ninjask or sharpedo but each can use their attacks while racing to get ahead of the lead.
Deoxys would be unable to participate since everybody can get one via wifi trade.
