If you were actually on a Pokemon journey, which Pokemon would you have?

And think about which Pokemon would be easy to tame, and things like that. I mean, sure, Gyarados is powerful, but think about how vicious it is. Same with other powerful Pokemon. I mean, you wouldn't catch a Pokemon and it would instantly obey you. Okay, my team would be:

Umbreon (Starter, always has been favorite Pokemon.)
Arcanine
Milotic
Absol
Skarmory
Golem

If most of the Pokemon have been with you for awhile, they'll trust you, especially if you've caught them in their pre-evolutions.

Whether Pokemon are amicable towards their trainer depends on whether you take the interpretation of the games (all Pokemon that contain your original trainer ID and hidden ID will always obey you, while Pokemon acquired from other trainers will be unruly if their level lies above the threshold established by the badges you possess) or the anime (from my scant and holey comprehension of the anime, it has to do with the trainer's ability to befriend Pokemon or something of that nature). So, being a lazy jackass I'm going to take the game's interpretation. :p

Sandslash
Heracross
Slowbro
Manyula

Um...I guess those would be my permanent members, since I can't think of any other Pokemon I would want all the time on my team. :O I would probably use an Ampharos and Sceptile in the last slots, but I couldn't commit to the two. If only their types were available in a single Pokemon... ;]

Well, here's mostly why I would have those Pokemon: Arcanine's are loyal. Think about dogs. They hardly ever betray their master. Umbreons are just so cute, and are powerful. Milotics are also prettiful, hard to get, and, I guess, should pretty much obey you after you evolve them from that drab Feebas. Skarmories are strong, and it's nice to have a Pokemon on your team that can withstand most types' attacks. Golem, just because I needed a strong ground type to add on. Dugtrio wouldn't do.

Starter: Typhlosion. They're strong, can learn TP and 'quake, have good stats, and are just the right size.
Milotic. Beautiful, kind, good for surfing, and can soothe my tense feelings (I'm pretty high-strung *spaztwitch*)
Gardevoir. Kicka*s Psychic type and wonderfully elegant.
Mightyena. Who the hell doesn't love wolves?
Ninetales. Feh, demon foxies are way too cool for Mary Sues.
Swellow. May be common, but cool-looking and reasonably strong.
Sceptile/Ampharos. ARGH F*CK DAMMIT I CAN'T DECIDE!
I'll have them switch every now and then.

And keeping with my games, they're all female except for the Sceptile and Ampharos.

I would have Treecko, Ralts, Aron, Magikarp, Magnemite and Bagon on my journey. Read the tc. Of course, magikarp would be a tad harder to train. However, my dream team would be a balance of physical and special sweepers.

If I were on a journey I would not be a trainer. I would find another occupation, travelling around with only my Bulbasaur for company as we explore the depths of the world.

Jetx

hooray, it's Jetx!
I would have my six faves:
Breloom (cute, easy to raise, friendly)
Lanturn (cute, friendly, light things up, strong enough)
Houndoom (humble and proud, it would risk it's life to defend me)
Quilava (nicely unpopular, looks pretty cool and easy to raise)
Butterfree (easy to raise, friendly, unpopular.)
Dewgong (cute, powerful, friendly)

I do like ho-oh but I wouldn't want to stroll around with an uber all the time. Or I'd really need to get a life! :X

Tropical Spirit

Aren't we being a bit steriotypical with pokemon natures? I thought all pokemon were different?
Ah well, I would go with:

-Tropius (to fly about on)
-Sceptile (for riding on to cover land at high speed)
-Meganium (to heal injuries and revive pokemon)
-Ludicolo (for DANCING!)
-Exeggutor (psychic abilities always come in useful)

I would have Umbreon too, but I'd have gotten it as an Eevee first. Umbreon seems like it would have a vicious nature and it'd probably be very hard to tame, but Eevee... Eevee is perfect "pet" material. Tame those tough Pokemon when they're in their first forms, and I doubt they'd be very hostile after evolution... unless you never bothered to give them a reason to like you, of course.

Now I don't really like to catch a lot (the games kind of force you to *cough* like fr/lg) but if I didn't have to catch a lot, then I wouldn't. Umbreon would be my only Pokemon for a while.

In the end my team would be:
Umbreon.
Mudkip, who would never evolve because he's the cutest thing ever. XD
A Flygon, who I caught and tamed as a Trapinch.
and maybe an Arcanine too. Dogs rock.

I don't think I'd really catch a full team of 6 Pokemon. Think of how much trouble it would be.... It's like trying to keep 6 pets under control, only harder because these pets breathe fire and shoot lightning bolts out of their fur. n_n;
