If You Were in Charge of the Anime (*POTENTIAL SPOILERS*)

Lol, the BW Pokemon weren't memorable at all. Oshawott and Snivy were Squirtle and Bulbasaur ripoffs that paled in comparison. A bunch of his Unova Pokemon, like Boldore, Unfezant, and Palpitoad barely got any focus. Pignite was one of the better ones, and yet after the likes of Charizard, Cyndaquil/Quilava, and Infernape, he just couldn't compare. Only one that I liked was Krookodile.

What the heck was so great about bulbasaur and squitle, except for them coming back to get a couple of DEMs at the end of BF, AT LEAST snivy had a cool backstory, and oshawott was fun, As far as i remember, bulbasaur did pretty awfully against Drake, and ALL of squirtle´s wins, were easy, and everything after that was needlessly glorifying them, as the legends that that they never were, BW could have easily been remembered fondly, if O and S had as easy wins.

anyhow,

i would have bulbasaur leave earlier, and give totodile, and phanpy some gym wins.

the battle vs. norman would have starred torkoal, and grovyle starred vs. juan.

Dawn would catch the shiny ariados.

Oshawott would evolve against lucario, and lost against virgil.

Agree on Snivy and Oshawott, even though I wish they gave more on Snivy in Decolora.

No one seems to judge them by themselves, only how they compare.

I can watch all the other series from ep 1 till the end but not BW. With BW I can only stand a few episodes. Now I'm not bashing the series I just feel it felt out of place and was missing something.

As for what I would love to see in XY is the Battle Frontier doing a big thing. Like they are showed off if we get Gen 3 remakes (Hoping parts of Emerald are tossed in like the BF) and they use Ash as a big name saying he was the only one who ever beat the BF. Hoping that would make his new friends respect him more. And as weird as it sounds I would be fine if Wally was used as a rival since unlike DP and BW and OS we never got a rival for him right away. Plus Wally was skipped in AG so it would be cool to see him appear. I say if certain people are skipped in certain gens remakes are the best time to show them off in the anime. In fact I could see them using Steven Stone looking into Mega Stones which would be pretty cool. :)

They all have well defined personalities that stand out, particularly Oshawott - he's a glutton, he's prideful, he was cowardly, he loves his scalchop, he's a girl chaser, and so on.

Oshawott got plenty of screentime and had a personality. I get that. But he sucked as a battler - he never took it seriously. Unfezant, Scraggy, and Boldore quite frankly got shafted in terms of development/focus, and they sucked at battling. I rather see Pokemon with personality and can battle, like numerous members of Ash's AG and DP teams.

I'll explain more. The XY series feels halfhearted, the characters are not engaging, the episode plots are nothing special, Serena doesn't have the sass that Lilia (Iris) did, Citro (Citron/Clemont) isn't passionate about what he does like Benny (Cilan/Dent(o)), Heureka (Bonnie/Eureka) is more forced than either cute or funny, they try too hard to make Ash cool, and please don't let me talk about new Team Rocket. XY has good writing, but good writing means nothing if there's no soul behind it. Everyone contributed something in Best Wishes! while in XY, one or more people often stand in the background until it's time for their episode. Sometimes one of the main characters were in the background but they still made their presence known somehow.

Serena did show sass with her mother and hopefully that'll be something that comes out more in the series. Serena and her goals will pick up hopefully over time, like how Iris's goal wasn't revealed in the beginning either. Clemont has been amazing, and probably the best male sidekick showing I've seen since pre-DP Brock. As for Ash, they've always shown to be 'cool' and heroic, but its nice seeing him battle strategically and competently. And for your last point, its only really Serena that suffers from that problem - Clemont and Bonnie have made their stamp on most episodes.

Can you name any specific episodes where it was said he's closer to his goal though? EDIT And being closer to his goal doesn't mean he's a good character. As long as you're citing DP as an example, remember Katrin (Johanna/Ayako)? She was the best at what she did but was a robotic character.

The episode in which he defeats Brandon and completes the Battle Frontier? Umm...the episode in which he takes out a Darkrai + Latios? AG and DP in general showed him progressing into a better trainer. This "Ash = robot" DP gripe is overrated - he was not some lifeless being who battled all day. Was his personality a bit bland at times? Yeah, but I rather have that than see him be immature/lively in BW and fail as a trainer.

How are they ripoff other than being starters and the same types? The others you listed got little focus in comparison but when they did, they left an impression. I'll agree that Krookodile was cool.

They left an impression of needing more focus, that's what.

Not sure if you watched the OS to make that type of statement. Lol, Bulbasaur got two quality wins at the Indigo Plateau and defeated Meganium in the Silver Conference. He was always strong, so nope, his BF wins were hardly a case of DEM (which could be said of any Pokemon victory).

You mean the same Snivy backstory that could have been explored further but wasn't? O and S could have used some easy wins because they'll go down by majority opinion as two of the worst Pokemon Ash has captured.

They may not be the best battlers but it doesn't matter that much in the scene of things compared to personalities. Then again I didn't watch BW for battles, so that's just me.

Lilia (Iris) kept her goal a secret which added more mystery to her, Serena just doesn't have one which makes her feel useless. Serena did have a little sass but as soon as she split from her mom, where did it go? I just prefer Benny (Cilan) to Citro (Clemont). They've always done that but I feel like that's all they're relying on most of the time. It's only Serena but she's still a member of the group. When one person stands in the background like she does, it drags them down. The watchers are supposed to feel her presence, not say she did nothing. If they could balance out representation with the Best Wishes! trio, why not XY's group, right?

I'll just take your word for it. As for the robot thing, I said Lucia's Mom (Dawn's Mom) was one. I can't really judge if Ash was one until I see more of him.

They left an impression of needing more focus, that's what.

People complained when Pokemon they didn't like got a lot of focus though.

Serena did have a little sass but as soon as she split from her mom, where did it go? All she does is cook and watch other people do stuff, and when she does do anything it's mainly what everyone else is doing, Lilia did her own thing and went at her own pace. I just prefer Benny (Cilan) to Citro (Clemont). They've always done that but I feel like that's all they're relying on most of the time. It's only Serena but she's still a member of the group. Ash's Unova Pokémon may have personalities, but they aren't good ones, like Oshawott's cutesy-wutesy act to Snivy acting like a diva. About what you said about Serena and Clemont, the writers are doing new things like you said. Ash started to become like a robot for me during Johto, some of AG, some of DP, all of BW and some of XY. I agree with you on that last point there.

Best Wishes Do Come True Under The Sun & Moon
Fletchling has none, Froakie has little that really stand out. XY is doing new things too, but they're hurting the show. What good did Serena's love for Ash do for the series? Nothing. It's not even fleshed out enough, her crush on Ash is really just yet another character trait, it was done better with Meloetta back in Best Wishes!. It didn't define her, they didn't make a big deal out of it.

Chillax! We're still in the first stage of the first season of XY! It's not like things are gonna happen with the snap of a finger, especially if it's obvious they're taking the slow route. Besides, BW ended, and there's no way to bring it back now, so I don't see why you're complaining.

To be fair, this guy have been treated like **** every time he made a post about liking BW, so he just takes revenge by hating XY. nothing gets you to hate something more, than being told what you like sucks, so you should STFU and just watch whats popular.

Best Wishes Do Come True Under The Sun & Moon
Oshawott - Mijumaru - Ottaro
Pidove - Mamepato - Dusselgurr
Fletchling - Yayakoma - Dartiri

Things happened in Best Wishes! in the snap of a finger, Ottaro had an established personality when we first saw him and it only grew from there. So did Dusselgurr, Yayakoma's whole personality from its catch episode to now is it likes to eat and likes to be taken care of, and even the 2nd one I said was shown only in one episode. XY is going slower for no reason than to waste everybody's time. I'm complaining because I expected this series to be BETTER than BW, and it wasn't. It doesn't take 20 episodes to show off somebody's personality in full. 20 min. = 10 hours. Most of that time could have been used on better things.

See everyone should just chill about this, if they take it slow it could mean the writers are thinking of new things, maybe. BW will never be back, since it just ended and too many people hate it.

Liko>>>>>Ash
...anyways I would have liked the pacing in DP to be slightly shorter so that there could have been a Sinnoh/Johto Battle Frontier and Johto contest arc. I would also have Dawn win the Johto to Grand Festival and Ash beating the Sinnoh/Johto Battle Frontier, then becoming a frontier brain and ending his time in the anime as the main character. BW would then be a complete reboot of the anime.

Like I said, it's not like things can be solved with the snap of a finger! BW may have given you the benefit of the doubt, but to expect things to do so in order for you to be completely satisfied is just gonna set you up for a lot of disappointment. XY is not the only saga that took it slow on a number of things; DP and (I assume) AG have done so as well on several elements of their storylines. Besides, I believe the only reason BW just fast-tracked a number of its plots is because it was much shorter than the other sagas, since Gen V was as well.

All your points are valid, since Gen V lasted from 2010 to 2013, making it very short.

Yep, which was actually quite disappointing, since I don't see why BW would've suffered from that. Which brings me back to the topic: if I were in charge of the anime, first thing's first: I'd be sure to adjust the plot of BW in a way that it's more flexible to the length of Gen V (no fast-tracking, but a suitable way to execute the plots in a way appropriate for as long as they can go).

Sephora

yes I'm back
If I was in charge of the anime, Serena would have a kickass goal, her Fennekin would be a frequent battler, and she'd have her second capture by now...
Oh, and there would be more AmourShipping hints ;)

Gen V lasted from 2010 to 2013, making it very short.

Thank god for that.
