Ash would become the champion of each region and start each region with new pokemon to give himself a challenge and to expand his pokemon reserves.

Ash would rotate his pokemon more as well.

I would get rid of Dawn and bring back Misty. They go to the Johto BF and Misty does what Ash does and starts again with only a Marill.

Truth be told, I'd probably turn the Anime into the Pokemon Special manga.

me too! (but Id change character names to suit the games heroes, e.g Ruby-Brendan, Diamond-Lucas)

p.s id still keep Ash though, to make it a bit mre childish, and in turn make more money.

Or I'd at least have ash meet some of the Manga characters at some time, to show him true power.

Oh yes and to add to the day care thingy Ash
remembers he left Squirtle! He comes back to find he
is a Watortle, Just before he is about to set of for the
Kanto Frontier, re-adding it to his team

Jesse GS the II

I was frozen today!
In terms of what I'd do with the show overall, I wouldn't listen to a damn thing 4Kids told me regarding the removal of Japanese text and culture. If anything, I'd put in even more, just as a way of saying "Bite me, you xenophobic losers." I say this show should embrace its heritage, not try to conceal it, dammit.

Now, onto the specifics.

I would have paced Kanto a little better. The long string of fillers we got between Satoshi's sixth and seventh badges was quite a slog, and considering there wasn't much else to do in Kanto aside from collecting badges, a lot of what we got in between was hit or miss. But that'd be a lot easier to tolerate if the first six gyms weren't all clumped together in the first 30 or so episodes of the series.

I would have played up the Orange Islands episodes to make Kenji a slightly deeper character. The obtainment of his elderly Strike would be the turning point in his character development, wherein he discovers a desire to help Pokémon instead of just watching them. Thus, he's got even more of a reason to join Ookido-hakase at the lab when he gets to Masara Town.

Other than that, I'm pretty content with how the first two sagas went. There's a lot more I'd do to Jouto, though. I'd seek to make each episode more character driven, and not just about showcasing one Pokémon for 24 minutes. You look at some of these Jouto fillers, and they're absolutely shameless - it gets to a point where they went back to Pokémon they'd already devoted an episode to and gave them another episode, and tried to pretend we hadn't already seen them. And sometimes, it wouldn't even be a Generation II Pokémon (did we really need a Jouto filler about Poppo? Or Windie? Or Omanyte?). Houen improved on the show's episode structure, and Shinou perfected it to the point where fillers don't even feel like fillers - I just wish they'd gotten the hang of it a little earlier, that's all.

With Houen, my big gripe is the Aqua-dan/Magma-dan climax, but I'm channeling my frustration with that through something else (I'm finally drawing that comic I talked about a year ago!). But aside from that, it was a great saga. Haruka's character development was great fun to watch, as she gradually went from clueless novice to cocky-yet-inexperienced to seasoned professional. And the way all the characters played off each other was excellent. It set things up for the picture-perfect Shinou saga, where character interaction has been cemented and everything has some sort of significance.

JOHTO POKEMON

Ash

Pikachu: If you expect it to leave now, you're delusional.
HootHoot-Noctowl: While traveling to Cherrygrove City, Ash stumbles across a shiny HootHoot whose flock has rejected it due to it's odd coloring, and catches hiim. Has a sarcastic, intelligent personality and likes to peck Ash when he's bored.
Totodile-Croconaw-Feraligatr: In a random river, Ash finds a happy go lucky Totodile that loves to dance and perform. Even after evolution, it keeps its silly personality.
Heracross: While making his way through Ilex Forest, Ash runs into a tree and somehow hits it hard enough to shake a Heracross out of the tree. Has a personality like Scooby-Doo from the Scooby-Doo series, with sap being it's version of Scooby-Snacks.
Sunkern-Sonflora: While helping some random character garden, Ash meets and befriends a Sunkern, who later evolves into Sunflora. Has the same personality as the one from Explorers of Time/Darkness/Sky.
Cyndaquil-Quilava: His new rival, Silver tries to catch him before, but it runs away and meets Ash, who treats him with kindness. Starts out incredibly shy and hates battling, but after evolution becomes bolder.

KRIS (Replaces Leaf, also a Coordinator.)

Chikorita-Bayleef: Her starter Pokemon, same one Ash had.
Mareep-Flaaffy-Ampharos: The first capture she ever made. A bossy Electric type who shocks everyone when she doesn't get her way and tends to throw tantrums.
Natu-Xatu: An incredibly intelligent but weak Pokemon who Kris finds. He couldn't battle at all in the Natu stage and mostly did appeals, but with training was able to become her second strongest. Can see brief glimpses into the future and alerts the heroes when something bad is going to happen.
Egg-Snubbul-Granbull: Recieves as a gift from the breeding couple in Goldenrod. An overly affectionate dog who loves to slather her owner with kisses.
Skarmory: Becomes the "Odd one out" of her team. Incredibly viscious at first due to an experiment by Team Rokcet that gave it abnormal strength. With love and kindness, it becomes one of her major team players.
Corsola: After a virus is passed around that affects many of the groups Pokemon, and she gets seperated from Ash and the breeder due to Feraligatr and Skarmory attacking her, she is rescued from drowning by a rather helpful Corsola. The thing will volunteer for anything, literally... and becomes a great assist to her.

BREEDER

Zubat-Golbat-Crobat: A proud Pokemon that is FURIOUS when the breeder cathces him, and hates him at first. Over time, the two bond, and he eventually evolves twice.
Shuckle: While learning about Berry Juice from Old Man Shuckle (yes, I couldn't leave him out), the breeder and one Shuckle are put to test for making juice, and become close. Old man Shuckle lets him keep it, and it becomes his girl stopper of the region by wrapping it's tentacles around his ankles and tripping him.
Qwilfish: While fishing, it hooks onto his rod...and him, won't let go, so he keeps it. Surprisingly intelligent, just won't show how smart he is.

Will definitely post rivals and TR later!

Kanto/Orange Islands/Sevii Isles

Story
It starts out the same way the original anime did (with additions like Oak explaining the pokemon universe, what trainers are, trainer ranks, etc). Ash is late and has to take Pikachu as his starter pokemon. Ash meets Leaf when his Pikachu is injured by ****** off Spearow and she joins him. She follows him to Pallet Town when he delivers Oak's parcel and gets her starter, a Clefairy(since Clefairy was the pokemon the writers were going to give Ash if they hadn't given him Pikachu). Eventually they meet a breeder named Randy that also joins them. Throughout the Kanto saga the personalities of the three main characters, their pokemon, and their rivals would all grow. In Kanto the events of Pokemon The First Movie (Mewtwo and Mew) would play out and Giovanni would be overthrown after Ash beats him at Viridian Gym. Of course the Team Rocket admins that I created myself (aside from Apollo) would play a huge role as well. All of the major Team Rocket stories from the games would be included like the Game Corner, Pokemon Tower, and Sliph Co. The Team Rocket admins (And Jessie, James, and Meowth) would try to rebuild Team Rocket after Giovanni quits. In the Sevii Isles they would capture the 3 legendary birds and be defeated by Ash, Leaf, and Gary who would save the 3 birds by releasing them. Spudnick and Armstrong would die but Apollo would escape by sacraficing most of his pokemon. Aside from the filler arc there's Ash's gyms and Leaf's contests. Ash would make it to the final round of the Kanto League but lose to Gary when Charizard refuses to battle. Mr Goodshow would see that Charizard is the only reason Ash lost and offer Ash a chance to battle the Kanto Elite 4 any way. All Ash has to do is prove himself by beating the 5 Orange Island gym leaders (who all actually battle in this version). Unfortunately there are no contests in the Orange Islands but Leaf uses the short time they're in the Orange Islands as a break and uses it to effectively train her pokemon for the next Grand Festival. When Ash gets back to Kanto he finds out that Team Rocket is causing trouble again at Sliph Co. on his way to Sliph Co. all of his pokemon but Pikachu leave him to do other things. Apollo, Spudnick, and Armstrong escape from Sliph Co. and reveal that they're headed towards the Sevii Isles. Being the hero he is, Ash decides to go to the Sevii Isles before challenging the Elite 4 to stop Team Rocket. Luckily they don't have to wait around doing nothing until Team Rocket attacks, the Sevii Isles has contests and 7 Battle Facilities to help Ash train before his Elite 4 challenge. After Team Rocket is defeated, Ash earns all 7 Frontier Symbols, and Leaf wins the Sevii Isles Grand Festival Ash goes on to challenge the Elite 4 and the new champion, Gary. Ash wins and is offered the position of champion but of course turns it down since his goal requires him to defeat the champion of every region, not just Kanto. Leaf decides to stay in Kanto while Ash and Randy heads to Johto. Ash also leaves all of his pokemon besides Pikachu behind with Oak so that he can broaded his team's strategies even further by catching and training even more types of pokemon.

Ash: A trainer who just barely passed pokemon trainer school. He was the loser of Pallet Town and wants to prove that he's great by becoming the best trainer in the world. To do this he must travel to every region in the world and collect dozens of different types of pokemon and train them to help him defeat the champion of each region. He starts out as a the same noob he did in the actual anime but begins to grow and learn strategies slowly. I'd keep him the same way but I'd give him more of a background story and more personality.

Pikachu - It would have had a whole background behind it. The reason why it didn't like humans and how Oak got it in the first place would have been explained. It would have literally been a lab rat for Team Rocket that Oak saved. That would also explain why Team Rocket constantly try to catch it. So that Ash could keep Pikachu on his team forever I'd find a way to regulate it's power so that the fluctuating could seem acceptable. Most like it would be some kind of story arc involving what happened to Pikachu in the first episode of AG and the light ball. Due to Team Rocket's experiements, Ash's Pikachu is no ordinary Pikachu. It's powers can top that of it's evolved form.

Pidgey-Pidgeot - So Pidgey would be Ash's first capture ever rather then Caterpie. It would evolve to Pidgeoto rather quickly and then to Pidgeot near the middle-end of Kanto. It would be Ash's strongest pokemon until Charmeleon evolves becoming a rival for Ash's Charizard and the only one with enough power to match it. After the Orange Islands Ash would leave it in Kanto to protect wild Pidgey and Pidgeoto from the Fearow (Spearow) that attacked him in the first episode. However Ash would be able to call on it when ever necessary.

Bulbasaur-Ivysaur: It would be Ash's second capture. It would be left by it's trainer at an abandoned village and protect the other abandoned pokemon there just like Ash's from the anime now. It would decide it's not ready to evolve in the same way it did in the actual anime but eventually evolve to save Ash and end up having a short lived grudge against him for making it evolve. Ash would show it that it's just as good as an Ivysaur as it was as a Bulbasaur and show it that it doesn't have to fear growing up. After the Orange Islands Ash leaves Ivysaur at Oak's to settle down the pokemon on his ranch. Like Pidgeot Ash calls upon it when ever he needs it, such as against the Elite 4.

Charmander-Charizard: In this storyline Damien would have been a trainer from Pallet Town and a major rival of Ash's. Charmander would have been his starter. Damien would eventually release it in favor of pokemon with good IVs that Charmander helped him catch in the wild. Upon evoling into Charmeleon it would develop a gruff personality but would still help Ash out in gym battles. When it becomes a Charizard it would disobey Ash and only battle opponets it sees as worthy. It would cost Ash the league by refusing to battle Gary in the final round. After seeing that Ash would have won if Charizard hadn't refused to battle Mr Goodshow makes Ash a special offer, if he can defeat all 5 Orange Island gym leaders he may also challenge the Elite 4. During this saga Charizard begins obeying Ash but is left at the Charicific Valley in Kanto right afterwards. It is called back in the Sevii Isles arc to battle Team Rocket's Moltres and to battle the Elite 4.

Squirtle: Just like Ash's other two Kanto starters, Ash's Squirtle was released by it's trainer for being too weak. It joins a group of wild Squirtle and becomes the leader of the Squirtle Squad. After Ash helps it, it decides to join him. It develops a rivalry with Gary's Blastoise. After the Orange Islands saga it joins the Squirtle Fire Fighting Squad but returns to Ash when ever he needs it. It has the same "cool guy" personality as it does in the actual anime.

Cubone-Marowak: After it's mother was killed by Team Rocket it was saved by Mr Fuji and began to hate all humans other then Fuji. When Ash makes it to Lavendar Town Fuji suggests that the emotional, grumpy Cubone join him to stop Team Rocket's invasion of the Pokemon Tower. After Ash helps Cubone defeat Team Rocket and runs them out of the Pokemon Tower it starts trusting him. After seeing this Fuji suggests Ash bring it on his journey with him. Ash and Cubone both agree and Cubone joins his team in favor of Muk who is sent to Oak. Cubone is afraid of humans such as Leaf and Randy at first but grows more courageous. In the Orange Islands it is hurt so Ash leaves it at Oak's lab to rest for a while. It's actually pretty shy and emotional but it trys to act tough and pretends to have an "I don't care" attitude.

Grimer-Muk: Ash catches it as a Grimer when a group of Grimer and their leader, a Muk, cause a blackout at the Power Plant. Gary catches the powerful Muk while Ash gets the halfwit, slowmo Grimer of the group. It evolves within 20 episodes and helps Ash out greatly in early Kanto but when Ash battles Sabrina it is turned into a doll along with Leaf and Randy. Ash goes to Lavendar Town with the gym leaders Misty and Brock for more training so that he can defeat Sabrina and save his friends. Ash fills his 6th slot with Cubone while in Lavendar Town so Muk is sent to Oak's lab as soon as Ash saves it. It is used sparingly in the rest of Kanto only being rotated onto Ash's team for the Kanto League for the most part but it is bought back for the Sevii Isles arc when Ash finds that his Kanto team all have to go off and do other things. I'd leave it's personality alone, the lovey-smelly-beast thing is actually pretty funny.

Krabby-Kingler: It is caught on a whim when Oak tells Ash that Gary already has 50 pokemon and he only has 6. After being caught it is sent to Oak's and only used sparily in Kanto being rotated onto Ash's team for a small amount of gym battles(Blaine and Giovanni), a water pokemon tournement, and the League. It is a symbol of Ash's dream, to catch and train many different types of pokemon so that he can broaden his battle strategies and defeat any trainer in the world. It wouldn't see any actual adventures outside of a stadium until the Sevii Isles saga when Ash learns that he'll need to rely on more then just his Kanto starters, Pidgeot, and Marowak. It would have the same personality as Ash's Corphish from the anime now. It evolves early in the Sevii Isles arc

Snorlax: A powerful pokemon that Ash catches in the Orange Islands. It stays with Oak until Ash heads to the Sevii Isles. It starts out lazy and Ash can't control it since all it wants to do is eat and sleep but when Ash finally gets it motivated it becomes the strongest pokemon on his Sevii Isles team. The Sevii Isles equivalent of Charizard

Drowzee-Hypno: Before Ash leaves for the Sevii Isles Oak suggests that Ash should catch types of pokemon that he does not currently own. This is the reason Ash jumps at the chance to catch both Drowzee and Mankey. Drowzee was a pokemn being used by Cassidy and Butch to control an entire town's pokemon. After Jessie and James defeat Cassidy and Butch with Ash and co's help C&B are arrested and Drowzee is left abandoned. Officer Jenny entrusts the Drowzee to Ash. It has a mischeious personality and sides with Jessie and James when Ash first gets it. It puts it's friends to sleep so that Jessie and James can steal their pokemon. Ash finds out what Drowzee is doing and considers releasing it but instead he teaches it who it's eal friends are and that a life of crime doesn't pay (because it'd still be a kid's show and life lessons would be inevitable).

Mankey-Primeape: It would be exactly the same as the Primeape Ash had in the actual anime only it'd spend longer as a Mankey and wouldn't be released.

Jesse GS the II

I was frozen today!
Since I've been studying the Jouto episodes lately, I might as well go into detail about what I'd change.

- The first episode is great, but just as a touch of foreshadowing, I'd have Utsugi-hakase mention that Kenta, Marina, and Jun'ichi are the trainers who are coming to pick up the starter Pokémon tomorrow. (I know, this predates Crystal and the Raikou special, so this is a little implausible. Maybe it'd just be Kenta that he mentions, I don't know.)
- I'd play up the Satoshi vs. Nanako battle to make Satoshi feel a little guilty about using Lizardon to sweep a rookie trainer's entire team, and make that the principal focus of the episode.
- As it stands, Heracross is a pretty worthless capture. I'd make an arc out of his tendency to blow off battling in favor of searching for sap, and have Satoshi try to help him overcome this vice. The catch is that Heracross stubbornly doesn't want to overcome it, which ultimately forces Satoshi to deposit him.
- I'd make the Donfan episode more character-driven, focusing it on Takeshi's efforts to impress Hiiragi with his knowledge of Pokémon breeding.
- When Shigeru appears in the Hoho episode, I'd make him the focus of the story, setting up an arc where he's lost his passion for training and thus has become cold and distant. He reluctantly reveals that he hasn't caught any new Jouto Pokémon yet, and he doesn't have the enthusiasm for capturing that he once had. This would foreshadow the Final Conference episodes and Shigeru's eventual hiatus from the world of training.
- After Satoshi captures Chikorita, I'd set up a rivalry between her and Fushigidane; the scrappy young newcomer versus the seasoned veteran. I'd do situations where Fushigidane is ready to come to the rescue, but Chikorita handles everything instead. This'd be a good plot to work into the Nuo episode, where both Chikorita and Fushigidane have a 4x type advantage.
- I'd only change one tiny thing about the Hayato battle - I'd give him a Yorunozuku instead of a Hoho. He's got two powerhouses and then a dinky little owl; something's not right there.

Anyway, I don't want to start rambling here, but this is what I'd do for starters. Suffice to say, any filler episode would be much more character-driven, with the plot somehow tying into the personality of one or more of the main characters.

Also want to add that I'd try and NOT use a bunch of the same Pokemon, like how we see tons of Steelix and Roserade. They'd still appear and maybe be owned by a few characters, but in much less quanity.

Hilikus

Aqua Boogie
This is how I would do it.
Ash wakes up on time, on his way he accidentally steps on an Abra which teleports him into a random forest. He gets Pikachu as his starter, I like the Team Rocket experiment idea, but I wouldn't have Oak be aware of this because that's just irresponsible.

Pikachu-A pokemon with exceptionally high attacking capabilities after experimentation by Team Rocket but still suffers from it's species frailties.Every so often it builds up too much energy and needs an light ball to weaken it.

Pidgey/Pidgeotto-Ash's first capture.Relied upon often in the earlier part of the series.Very laid back, not bothered whether it battles much.First one of Ash's Pokemon too evolve. After evolution it re-establishes itself as powerful.

Caterpie/Metapod/Butterfree-Second capture, it evolves quickly firmly establishing itself as a powerhouse. When Ash catches more Pokemon he decides to rotate his 6th slot.

Bulbasaur-Caught under same circumstances.Refuses to evolve, after refusing evolution he has trouble keeping up with the rest of the team which are evolving and becomes unhappy.Ash decides to work on his attacks instead and is able to teach him a variety of high powered moves.

Charmander/Charmeleon/Charizard-Starts off very timid and slowly becomes more confident. On evolution into Charmeleon he gains a significant power boost making him more confident and anxious to battle.During the league in Ash's battle with Richie he goes up against Richie's Charmeleon as Ash's last Pokemon which he defeats.Richie then sends out his last Pokemon Pikachu.Charmeleon attempts to battle it but cannot lay a single hit on it.He becomes enraged and evolves into Charizard, Charizard goes beserk so Ash is disqualified.

Squirtle/Wartortle-The cool guy of Ash's team.Acts as a leader in Pikachus absence.Evolves shortly before the battle with Blaine.

Gengar-A trickster who has exceptional battling capabilities when he's not playing tricks.Battles Sabrina and is used in the league.

Muk/Kingler/Primeape-No different except Ash keeps Primeape.

Missingno. Master

Poison-type Trainer
I would basically run things the same way, except for some minor differences.

Battle aboard the St. Anne: Ash would decide against trading back.

Bye Bye Butterfree: This episode wouldn't exist, nor would any derivative of it.

The Tower of Terror: Ash would capture Haunter in a Poké Ball, and would Oak Raticate for the gym battle.

Haunter vs. Kadabra: Ash would win legitimately with Haunter's Lick and Night Shade attacks, rounding the whole thing off with Haunter learning Hypnosis. Oh, and he'd keep Haunter.

Primeape goes Bananas: Charmander would still learn Rage, but would also fall to Primeape. It would be Haunter that defeated Primeape. Ash would Oak Haunter for Primeape. He'd use the buttons in his Pokedex to switch his Pokemon instead of calling Oak every time, too.

The Punchy Pokemon: Ash would keep Primeape, but begin rotating his team every so often. After this episode, he switches Charmander for Raticate.

Sparks Fly for Magnemite: Ash would Oak Bulbasaur for Muk.

Dig Those Diglett: The entirety of Ekans and Koffing's evolutions would be shown. Weezing would learn Thunderbolt.

Electric Soldier Porygon: I wouldn't allow the seizure-causing light effects. Also, Team Rocket would keep Porygon.

Legend of Dratini: Ash would capture 28 Tauros, but finally succeed in catching Nidorino and Rhyhorn as well. Primeape would be subsequently Oak'd for Nidorino.

Ninja Poke Showdown: Ash would use Nidorino against Koga's Venomoth. In the rematch, he'd use Raticate against Golbat. Raticate would learn Water Gun in this episode. This would also come after the Safari Zone eppy.

March of the Exeggutor Squad: Ash would Oak Raticate and Pidgeotto for Bulbasaur and Charmander.

Holy Matrimony!: Growlie goes with James.

Who Gets to keep Togepi: Meowth learns BubbleBeam to defeat Brock's Graveler (it evolves in the battle), and starts to evolve when battling Pikachu, but suppresses it, and keeps battling out of sheer determination to keep Togepi. Eventually KO's Pikachu with Fury Swipes. Togepi would still want to go to Misty, but after hearing Meowth begging, Togepi has flashbacks to how Meowth cared for the egg, and realizes it wants to be with Meowth. Twerps are unhappy, but accept it.

Bulbasaur's Mysterious Garden: Bulbasaur ultimately decides to evolve, still learning SolarBeam.

The Ultimate Test: The instructor was impressed with Ash so much that he let him keep the Weezing as a thank-you. Ash Oaks Ivysaur for Weezing.

Battle for the Badge: Team Rocket keeps Machamp, Rhydon, and Kingler (gives them to Meowth). Meowth's Togepi is revealed to know Double-Edge.

The Evolution Solution: Jessie keeps Shellder: A wild one winds up evolving Westwood's Slowpoke.

Round One-Begin!: Ash Oaks Nidorino for Krabby, episode continues as usual.

Friend or Foe Alike: Ash reconfigures his team to include Pikachu, Ivysaur, Charizard, Kingler, Weezing, and Raticate. Ritchie uses Sparky, Zippo, Happy, Fangs (Raticate), Floater (Haunter), and Spikey (Nidorino). Battle ends same way- Charizard is disqualified for disobeying Ash.

Pallet Party Panic: Ash catches the Fearow, and doesn't release Pidgeot. He departs for the Orange Islands with Pikachu, Ivysaur, Charizard, Kingler, and Fearow.

I might do the Orange Islands episodes later.
I will say, though, that Fearow will also disobey Ash.

Ash's Pokemon:
Pikachu
Ivysaur
Charizard
Squirtle
Pidgeot
Fearow
Kingler
Muk
Tauros (x28)
Nidorino
Rhyhorn
Weezing
Haunter
Primeape
Raticate

Misty's Pokemon:
Staryu
Starmie
Horsea
Psyduck

Brock's Pokemon:
Graveler
Onix
Zubat
Vulpix

Jessie's Pokemon:
Arbok
Lickitung
Shellder
Porygon

James's Pokemon:
Weezing
Victreebel
Growlithe

Meowth's Pokemon:
Togepi
Machamp
Kingler
Rhydon

EDIT: Some moves would see a redesign.

Grass Knot: It'd be more of a green glowing Vine Whip.

Frustration: See Thrash, but with a black aura.

Return: The Pokemon would take on a pink aura, then would create many hearts in midair, which would turn to face their pointed ends at the opponent. The heart darts would then fly towards the opponent in as menacing a fashion as it is possible for hearts to fly.

Growth: The Pokemon would glow green and grow.

Dream Eater: The Pokemon would use psychic energy to make the opponent's dream appear above it in the form of a cloud. It would then take on a red aura, and beckon the cloud close to it. It would then stuff the dream cloud in its mouth and eat it.

Hypnosis: In Poliwag, Poliwhirl, and Poliwrath's case, the spiral on its stomach would rotate to do the hypnotizing.

Stone edge: The Pokemon's elbow, knee, or horn would take on a brown aura. The Pokemon would then rush the opponent, stabbing it with the aura'd appendage.

Nightlingbolt

AKA Nightlingbolt
Considering Ash didn't have a permanent 6th Pokemon in Kanto, I'd give him Eevee. It wouldn't evolve until Johto, miss out on the battle against Drake in favor of Tauros, and evolve into Espeon a couple episodes after Gary debuts Umbreon. Also, Bulbasaur would have evolved once. Before Johto starts, Ash would Oak Ivysaur, Charizard, and Squirtle, leaving him with Pikachu and Eevee.

When Johto starts up, Ash catches Heracross and, later, a shiny Hoothoot. Against Falkner, Heracross stars against Pidgeot, despite the times four type disadvantage. Pikachu and Hoothoot are also used.

From there, everything proceeds as normal until Eevee evolves into Espeon. Ash gets Phanpy's Egg and Oaks Espeon for it.

Ash's team against Gary consists of Bayleef, Espeon, Muk, Heracross, Tauros, and Charizard.

Hoenn proceeds as it already does, except May catches that Swablu and evolves it to Altaria, and Ash takes Cyndaquil to the Battle Frontier and evolves it into Quilava, Oaking it after the battle against Spenser. Oh, and Anabel uses a Gardevoir to account for Ash's Espeon.

And that's all I'm changing... for now.
