Industry Rumor: Viz has Bleach?!

Status
Not open for further replies.
We have some big breaking news for everyone here at Serebii from Katsukon 2006;

Bleach has been picked up by Viz!!!

They are already planing to air it on Toonami soon, and I predict that the editing will be around the same level of Naruto, they did pretty fantastic with Naruto, hopefully they can repeat! The dub title for the show pulls a One Piece and brands it as a Shonen Jump title (Shonen Jump's Bleach).

There an official source for this? Not that I don't believe you, necessarily, but it's my policy to ask for a source on these things...

Well that wasn't surprising. I knew Viz would liscense the anime sooner or later.
I hope you're right.

Was Naruto branded "Shounen Jump's Naruto"?
Anywy, This is AWSOME! I'll finaly get to seee it, I'd read the manga if i wasnt like... Already reading 400 other series

This isn't confirmed yet, its just a guy whose dad works for 4Kids saying that Viz has Bleach. They might, but I'll wait for something official.

How in the world could one put Bleach on Toonami? o_O; Sure it's action-packed enough, but a lot of the humor revolves around perversion, especially with Kon. There's also a LOT of blood spray in the show. That would require a ton of editing for the show.

I say a bigger confirmation is in order. I'm having my doubts it'll be on Toonami.

Until I see ANN with the information or a press release, I won't fully believe it.

... However, if it is true... I laugh at the Bleach fanboys who feel as if the world has ended now that Bleach has been licensed.

And Chris, it is actually possible for Bleach to be on Toonami. If Rurouni Kenshin was able to pull it off, despite the horrid amount of editing done during the Kyoto arc, then so should Bleach. It would probably be placed at the last spot before Adult Swim, though.

Well, I'm not highly enthusiastic or excited. I think that it's going to suck, I can see it now -_-

The dub voices and viewer-friendly edits will kill it for most fans of the manga :)

When Bleach is dubbed, I'd much rather it go straight to DVD and retain its original content rather than be subject to heavy editing for broadcasting.

Either way, I'll probably still end up watching it.

Edit: Clarified.

Damn it this is Viz not 4kids. Only 4kids make crappy dub nowadays, for the most part, dubs today are usually decent to excellent. Besides, it would do and be better on TV then going straight to DVD.

Anyway, if this is real I wouldn't be suprised. Viz always seemed to be the most likely company to pick up Bleach.

That didn't stop Yu Yu Hakusho from airing on the block. Or, as mentioned earlier, Rurouni Kenshin.

Besides, we all know that Toonami has no problem airing TV-PG shows, so Bleach wouldn't fare too badly.

If Toonami didn't have problems with Naruto and Konohamaru looking at dirty magazines and transforming into naked chicks, I can't see why there'd be a problem with Chizuru and Kon making a few comments about Orihime's boobs.

They'd probably slap a TV-PG-SV on it, and air it around 10PM or so.

No REALLY? Viz? For REAL?

Sorry, I didn't see it nowhere in the EFFING thread.

It was my oppinion on the matter -_- I think that it will do better going straight to DVD. I'm entitled to my own views, feelings, and expectations, thanks. Is that so wrong?

Didn't I say, I was unenthusiastic about it. Damn!

Good news, I've heard nothing but good things about Bleach and am looking foward to seeing it. (I haven't seen the original, but I might soon)

Here we go again. The same attitude people had over Naruto being licensed. Oh wait. Hold on.

Generally, fans of the manga tend to hate anime versions of their anime regardless of what language. After seeing what Viz has to offer in voices, I can say I'm not worried a bit. Now, had 4Kids gotten Bleach, that'd be a different story.

...Where've you been? Bleach already has an anime and has had one for quite a long time now. o_O

Yes, and I'm one of those people. I'll hate it regardless, but still watch it. Which is why I feel the way I do, despite the fact that Viz is doing it. I just like the manga better regardless, and hate the anime in comparison.

...Firstly, I've been here. Second, I'm aware of the existing anime. Third, I was referring to the anime being dubbed in the English language and played here in America not in gerneral e_e My choice of words were poor, so I'll edit it for clarification.

Besides, the anime is already edited from the original manga, something an uncut direct-to-DVD release wouldn't fix.
So I probably won't like it period if they edit it again. The anime is usually different from the manga due to edits, that's why usually measures up to the manga. Oh well, I still think that having it on DVD is better, but that's just because I'd rather order the whole series rather than wait for new episodes to air. The fact that there is no uncut suck, but I can't get everything that I want.

One, I wish more people would take notice of that fact when calling the Japanese anime the "original".

Second, someone needs to make a serious site like that for certain series (Naruto, namely) to shut up people complaining about minor edits...
