hey guys, i recently xfered my brand new serious groudon to emerald (lvl45) and am gonna ev train it 252attck/252Def/6 Hp... but i cant decide on his moveset... im looking for fun suggestions as well as effective since it will be strictly ingame (e4 etc).. incase it matters, my team is so far golem, kingdra, swampert, whishcash :) thx 4 the tips

To above post: your moveset's close, but not yet.

Groudon@lefties
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- Overheat / Fire Blast

Earthquake + STAB + base 150 Atk + Swords Dance = gg. Any physical wall or Chlorophyller that tries to switch in will come crashing down in a fiery mess due pseudo STAB from Drought. One of the best pokemon in the game.

Lets just say Grass types love this team... if Groudon (with Frost Nova's set) and Kingdra (assuming it has a good moveset) go down, you've got a big problem. Unless you're going for some sort of theme, I'd highly recommend switching some team members. Also, Water types don't usually like Groudon on their team (due to its ability).

Didn't see that Kingdra in there.

Groudon usually doesn't go well with Water types in the same team. Chlorophyllers, Metagross, Snorlax and Rayquaza are good additions to a Groudon based team.

actually, the more they love you, the more often the moves hit. Seriously, it works! My fissure never missed, and if you treat him with love, here's probably one of the best sets i've seen:

Fissure
Fire Blast
Slash
Solarbeam ('cause of his draught)

................................lol............................

The more they love you (i.e. happier they are), the stronger Return is.
The End (unless it's a happiness-based evolver..but that's besides the point here..).

If your Fissure never missed, your level was probably leagues above your opponents' (since, iirc, that boosts the OHKO moves' accuracy)...or you got insanely lucky.

Also, Groudon has better things to be doing than using Slash, Fissure and Sunnybeaming....like Swords Dancing up and sweeping teams hehe

Did I mention LOL?

Groudon@Leftovers/Scope Lens?
Adamant nature
Overheat
Earthquake
Body Slam
maybe Ancientpower or Rock Slide since this is in-game and Swords Dance isn't really used that much in-game IMO, if this is used for competitive play, then Swords Dance should go here in place of Body Slam

Of course Swords Dance is useful in-game. In fact, it’s even easier to set up Swords Dance in-game than in competitive.

Pokemaster’s set is terrible, as you probably knew.

Frost Nova’s is the best.

Once Groudon's got a Swords Dance up, it's gfg for everything.

LOL.

no, i was actually lower than him. and believe me, that moveset rocks, mainly if you are the type of person who goes straight for the kill. no sitting around sword-dancing, just straight kill the opponent. LOL.

Did I metion LOL?

Try battling someone alive, who actually knows what they're doing, instead of the AI teams.

Fissure doesn't even work when you're lower than the opponent, so quit telling tales.

Slash is horrible. Return>Slash any day, and even then neither of them can even hit an SE.

Solarbeam...WHAT WERE YOU THINKING? Everyone knows that Groudon's Atk is bigger than SAtk, and there's no point in even using it. You may think: "How do I beat Kyogre then?" But EQ>Solarbeam anyday, even super-effective Solarbeam.

Fire Blast is the only good move you have. It's an exception to the Atk>SAtk rule because it has 180 base power with Drought, and that's nothing to sneeze at. Plus, it beats Skarmory, the main reason to even use Fire Blast.

You don't even have Earthquake on your set. Did I[SIZE] mention LOL? (Yes, I know 12768 isn't a size.)

As for the good set, here it is:

- Swords Dance
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- Thunder Wave/Endure (only with Salac)/Fire Blast/Overheat

There ya go. No fooling around.

...Lol.

Fissure will always miss if you're a lower level than your opponent. Always.

Your moveset doesn't "rock," since it's a mixed sweeper, has Solarbeam, and doesn't have Earthquake. Or Rock Slide, or Swords Dance. Believe me, I'm the type of person who goes straight for the kill, and guess what? I use Swords Dance Groudon. It's proven to be the most efficient, and STAB Earthquake is what makes him one of the best Pokemon in the game. Thus, any moveset except a CB one without Swords Dance or Earthquake is automatically inferior to one with said moves.

whatever. it's all a matter of opinion.

Did I mention GFG with Swords Dance and STAB Earthquake? Take a look at Groudon's stats before you start going "OMFG FISSURE ROX MA SOX" and "SOLARBEEM PWNS U".

Groudon's base Atk - 150

Groudon's base Spec. Atk - 100

Base 100 Spec. Atk is average for an uber: what is going to kill with Solarbeam anyway? Groudon can easily reach 500 Atk stat or more with one Swords Dance, and with that titanic Atk, and STAB on one of the best physical moves in the game, it kills nearly everything. Rock Slide and Fire Blast cover anything EQ doesn't kill.

yeah its an option but groudon is only averagely fast so i find it better off just adding to that huge attack. Jolly wont help outspeed anything that important i think.

Nothing really, considering that most uber opponents are EVed to outspeed Groudon and Kyogre. Besides, a slow Groudon may be better since it's Drought takes over Drizzle if Kyogre and Groudon come out on the same turn.
