• Hi all
Just a notice, we recently discovered that someone got into a moderator account and started hard deleting a load of key and legacy threads...around 150 threads have been lost dating back to 2007 and some weeks ago so we can't roll the forums back.
Luckily no personal data could be accessed by this moderator, and we've altered the permissions so hard deleting isn't possible in the future
Sorry for any inconvenience with this and sorry for any lost posts.

Me in bold.

Help me with my azumarril
nature Adamant
Trait:Huge power
Aqua jet or Ice Punch
Waterfall
Brick Break/Focus Punch
Double-Edge/Body Slam/Return

Ice Punch is great, but if you can't get it, Aqua Jet works as a nice priority move. It's okay to have Waterfall and Aqua Jet on the same set. Double-Edge does a TON of damage, but if you don't like the recoil, consider Body Slam for paralysis or Return.

First 5th Gen Shiny!
I have this Brave natured Celebi from the 10th Aniversery and I don't know what to do with it. I DON'T want to trade her off; I drove ALL the way down to the mall to get her so I'm not letting her go that easy. I can't seem to make up my mind...Being Brave kind of kills the sweeping option and I just can't make up my mind on a Tank/Annoyer/Support. I just don't know what to do with her. TT_TT Someone want to help me out?

How about a Poliwrath???
For ingame, consider:

Poliwrath (Adamant Nature) @Leftovers
~Trait: Water Absorb~
-Bulk Up
-Brick Break
-Ice Punch/Waterfall
-Hypnosis

Poliwrath is able to put opponents to sleep, giving her some time to charge up with Bulk Up.

Celebi isn't really a sweeper, to be honest. However, with all of her base stats being 100, it is possible. You're right about Brave not being the best Nature... :/ however, I suppose you could consider:

Celebi (Brave Nature) @Leftovers
-Swords Dance
-Baton Pass
-Recover
-Aerial Ace/Return (she doesn't know many physical attacks, and doesn't get STAB here either...)

She'll be a team player, but I guess this set could work with a Brave nature...

Blaziken (Adamant/Jolly Nature) @Life Orb/Muscle Band
-Flare Blitz/Blaze Kick (Kick if you don't like Blitz's recoil)
-Sky Uppercut
-Swords Dance
-Stone Edge/Rock Slide/Thunder Punch/Baton Pass

is what I would use. It seems that Quick Attack has its uses too...

Nothing Special
I'm currently about to beat Pearl and I'm planning my future team. I was wondering if Gallade would make a decent Subpuncher, or if it's a pretty bad idea.

Gallade - Jolly / Adamant
Ability: Steadfast
Item: Leftovers
EVs: 196HP/252ATK/60SDEF
- Hypnosis
- Psycho Cut
- Substitute
- Focus Punch

He would mainly be in play as a Subpuncher, but would also come into play on occasion as a Special Wall. I'm thinking of putting some ATK EVs into SDEF as that's a secondary role I want him to fill. My team has Dusknoir and Bastiodon as my Walls currently, but Bastiodon is more suited for physical and Dusknoir is more of a Staller with Pain Split and Will-o-Wisp. Sweepers are Weaville, Heracross and Sceptile.

Would this multipurpose Gallade work?

Ninjask makes a great Passer thanks to its Speed Boost ability

Ninjask (Jolly Nature) @Leftovers
-Substitute
-Baton Pass
-Swords Dance
-X-Scissor/Aerial Ace

You can use Substitute a few times until you get a few Speed Boosts in, and pass to a sweeping Pokemon. What's also handy is that if you get the opportunity to Swords Dance, you can pass the Attack AND Speed boosts onto a physical sweeper. If you don't like the idea of a team player, you COULD consider:

Ninjask (Adamant/Jolly Nature) @Choice Band
-X-Scissor
-Night Slash
-Aerial Ace
-U-Turn/Return/Metal Claw

The first three moves are self-explanitory. X-Scissor and AA for STAB. Night Slash is a good way to deal with Ghost Pokemon. Your last slot is up to you. U-Turn could get you out of some tricky situations. Return offers a good powerful attack, and Metal Claw gives you some way to hit Rock Pokemon harder (even though I don't know why you would want her around a Rock type anyway... :X) Metal Claw also has a chance of raising your Attack... :/

Copie: Gallade could work as a SubPuncher, but to be honest, Close Combat might prove more useful. Yes, it does lower your Defense and Sp.Defense, but you could consider using your Gallade for double status if you want him to be more defensive. I haven't considered using a SubPunch Gallade...

Nothing Special
Thank you. I did think of making him a little more offensive and using Close Combat. Was just trying to come up with some sort of Special Wall.

I got lucky tonight and caught a Calm Uxie with some solid IVs, which in terms of natures seems to fall into exactly what I need to fill my last spot. Is there a solid Uxie Special Wall set up? Most setups I've found either have U-Turn and make Uxie more of an annoyer, or SR, which I was planning on putting on my regular Def. Wall Bastiodon. Considering Uxie's Def and Sp. Def stat, and now that I have a Calm Uxie, is there a decent Sp. Wall attack set up I might be able to use? I was thinking of a Restalker with Psychic and TBolt...

Actually, any thoughts on this special wall Uxie, as compared to the Gallade in the previous post?

Uxie - Calm Nature
Ability: Levitate
Holding: Leftovers
EVs: 252HP/80SATK/176SDEF (Alternate would be minimize ATK and take SDEF all the way)
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
- Psychic
- Calm Mind

Calm Mind at max with Rest and Sleep Talk could be quite the competitor. Some powerful Psychics and the little thing just won't drop.

Or should I go with my previously mentioned kind of different Galade?

Psychic has pretty dreadful coverage. Uxie gets plenty of options to attack with that are better. Thunderbolt's a good idea but the problem becomes someone switching in a Ground type/Motor Drive/Volt Absorb Pokemon and sets up for free or forces you to remove any boosts you had with CM. Energy Ball or Grass Knot probably provide the least immunities, especially because Dark types aren't uncommon and Grounds are everywhere.
