Interview (RadioShipping One-Shot)

Hi again, people. You probably forgot about me already, but well... I did disappear for a while. You know? I was impressed with the considerable success my first Shipping One-Shot, "The Flower of Love" had as a whole, considering the kind of Ship it was about, and the fact that it was my very first Shipping Fic AND One-Shot ever. I was spurred to keep on writing Shipping Fics. Unfortunately, want, inspiration and time are non-relative concepts. That's why I was in a hard slump for the longest time...

I had several ideas, though. One of them was this One-Shot. It's about RadioShipping. That is DJ Mary & Jasmine. Yep... another obscure Shoujo-Ai couple made by me. However, this isn't as obscure in that it had a TCG card to back it up. You know... Mary's Request. I saw Mary and Jasmine right in the middle of an interview... and they were too cute. I decided to name the Ship, and I got an idea for a story eventually. I even got approval from the guy I had to consult whenever I was to involve Jasmine in anything. A great friend of mine...

And well... I also found a flawless charm to write Shipping Fics. Thus, expect me more often from now on. ^^

As of now... here's my latest One-Shot. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed writing it... :)

Interview.

The streets of Goldenrod City were awfully cluttered that day, as a rather tall girl with long brown hair tried to make her way through in order to reach the Radio tower. It had been long since she visited this city, and she still wasn’t fond of it in the slightest. She almost dropped down twice due to the seas of people and the noise. As she approached the far-away facility, however, the way became slightly easier. She still felt a bit sick due to the rough walk and the pollution of the city, though. She just passed her hands through her long white dress and placed them below as she slowly walked through this new scenery, blushing slightly due to the rather harsh bustle she had just gone through.

“Radio Tower… it’s here…” she said, almost panting, as she watched the imposing black building a few steps ahead. It was very tall and had lots of antennas resting atop it. Jasmine walked further and she finally made it to the entrance. The automatic doors moved away as she approached, and she walked inside.

The entrance room was quite calm, which was a big relief for Jasmine. She walked slowly through the gray-colored room and then looked to the right. She saw the counter and a few people standing behind it. A girl nearby looked at Jasmine, who looked around, as if lost. The red-haired girl walked to her as she adjusted her round glasses to see well. The Radio Tower had invited her to have an interview about her experiences as a GYM Leader. Mary was the DJ to interview her, as usual. Jasmine recognized her right away, yet she was very timid. Mary was famous, and it was like talking to a celebrity…

“Good morning, Jasmine! I’m glad you came,” said Mary with a wide smile in her face. The glasses made her eyes stand out, which made Jasmine blush slightly. Even if she wasn’t attracted to girls, she had to admit that Mary’s crimson eyes were cute. Jasmine had a brief glimpse as Mary approached her. She noticed her green sweater with darker stripes through it and her brown miniskirt.

“Um… hi. Sorry for the delay…” said Jasmine timidly. Mary smiled at her again, and she had a closer look. Jasmine was a bit pale, and even a bit too thin in her opinion, but… it was hard to explain. Mary thought she was gorgeous in such a cute way. Her long hair, her upward pigtails, her cute blue eyes… those strange feelings she was accustomed to started to form inside her. “So… what now?” said Jasmine, whom acted as if Mary’s fixed look on her was uncomfortable. Mary snapped off the trance and smiled again.

“Sorry! Please come with me, Jasmine.” Mary then grabbed Jasmine’s right hand, which took her by surprise. Mary saw that Jasmine stood still, and just walked slowly. She felt that she had gone a bit too far. Still, Jasmine walked behind her. Mary then led her to the next floor. After a while, Jasmine walked close to her, which made Mary feel a bit tickly inside. She couldn’t help but look at Jasmine from time to time. It wasn’t the first time she had this feeling toward another girl, but it always upset her in many ways... “I hope you didn’t have much trouble in your way here, Jasmine.”

Jasmine muttered, and even coughed. She still felt a bit sick due to her difficult walk though Goldenrod. “It was... hard. Don’t worry, though...” Jasmine smiled to Mary slowly, which made Mary blush a lot. She went on through the offices, all full of people sat in tables, with audiphones on their ears and with many papers in front.

“OK. We’re here, Jasmine.” Mary turned to a room encased in a thick wall with a big crystal, which allowed them to see what was inside: a room full of machines, a table in the middle, and a microphone on it. A door nearby led to it, and Mary opened it with a key she had in one of her pockets. She finally let go of Jasmine’s hand and gestured to the door. “You go in first, Jasmine.”

“Yeah...” said Jasmine and walked inside. Mary went right behind her and closed the door as both of them were inside. She then signaled the closest chair with her arms to Jasmine, whom sat on it right away. Mary rounded the table and went to the other chair in front, which was the closest to the table’s microphone. The device wasn’t just a mere microphone, but some sort of box with it spouting off it. Mary pushed a button in it and a green led on it turned on, with a dim green light.

“Good morning, Johto! Say hi to your favorite DJ! Today I have the pleasure to introduce our special guest: none other than Jasmine! Gym Leader of the beautiful port city, Olivine!” said Mary with enthusiasm. Jasmine blushed a bit as she heard Mary. The prospect of being heard by people all over Johto made her feel very nervous, and even more so after Mary had done such an introduction of herself. “As you all know, Jasmine is a wonderful Trainer. She trains Steel-Type Pokémon. A Type that remains elusive in most places, and yet, Jasmine managed to build up a solid reputation for both her Type of choice and her own GYM! As if that weren’t enough, Jasmine cares deeply about her Pokémon and her own city. She’s known for taking care of the majestic Lighthouse of Olivine and its light source. It’s a real honor to be able to interview her today, and I hope you enjoy this as well!”

Mary noticed a bit of weariness in Jasmine’s face. Indeed, Jasmine was blushing so much she was pretty much red in all her face. Mary’s words, while true, made her feel awfully embarrassed, especially since Mary had said them aloud and were heard all over Johto. “…but first! A few advertisements from our sponsors. We’ll be right back!” Mary pushed the button again, and the light in the device turned off. She then looked at Jasmine and smiled. “Don’t get so nervous, Jasmine! Just imagine this is a mild conversation between you and me.”

“Eh… but…” sad Jasmine with a soft tremble.

“You can trust me. Just talk naturally. Be yourself!” Mary winked at Jasmine and even extended her hands through the table. “You can hold my hands if it helps you.”

“Um… OK…” Jasmine moved her hands from their static position on her legs and placed them on the table. Slowly, her hands approached Mary’s, and held them. Mary felt a sudden jump within herself, accompanied with a deep blush. She kept on smiling at Jasmine, while her heartbeat became certainly faster. On the other hand, Jasmine felt less nervous. Even if she wasn’t prone to have contact with other people, she had to admit Mary’s warmth made her feel comfortable and cool.

“Hehe. Now I am getting nervous!” said Mary aloud with a funny tone. Jasmine just mumbled. “You tell me when we start, Jasmine.”

“Now… if you want,” said Jasmine weakly. Mary separated her right hand from Jasmine’s and pushed the button again. The green light turned on again.

“We’re back! And we have our guest all ready. How are you, Jasmine?” asked Mary. A friendly tone adorned her words, and Jasmine felt eager to respond.

“I’m… fine. Just a bit dizzy after the walk through Goldenrod…” said Jasmine, although unsure if it was heard. She assumed the microphone in the middle worked for both her and Mary, though.

“Quite the loud and cluttered city, isn’t it?”

“Yes…”

“With your discouraging experience in Goldenrod, I bet you rather like your hometown, Olivine. What can you say about it?”

“Um… it’s a nice place. It’s more peaceful… yes. And… the sea nearby makes the air and atmosphere rather… pleasant. We get many ships and visitors…” it was surprising, even for Jasmine herself. She never talked so much in succession. She was still trembling a bit, though. But most of her nervousness was gone.

“Sounds great! Olivine is known for that indeed. But enough of your city! What can you say about being a Gym Leader?” said Mary, whom still smiled at Jasmine, and even trembled within due to her and Jasmine still holding hands in the table. Her experience as a DJ made this unnoticeable in her words to the audience, though.

“Being a Gym Leader? Well… it’s nice. You get to meet many… interesting people. You see many Pokémon… you learn about Pokémon… you get stronger. It’s a nice duty…”

“It must be!” said Mary with happiness. She then looked at some notes in front of her, and talked again after a bit: “I reckon you were the only disciple of the former Gym Leader, Rockna. How does that feel?”

“Um… I‘m not special. Rockna just trusted me… that’s it.” Jasmine paused for a few seconds, as she sighed silently. “I just trained the same kind of Pokémon she trained… and I earned her trust for that…”

“But you know how commendable of a feat that is? Rockna was well-known for being rock-hearted and barely talkative. It was also known that becoming her apprentice was awfully hard, and that she’d only accept one at any given time! And yet, not only did she accept you as her sole apprentice, but she also passed the Gym Leader baton to you!”

“Well… I jut did as she told me. And… if I’m any good today… it’s thanks to Rockna…” replied Jasmine, even though Mary hadn’t really formulated a question. She blushed with every moment passing. It was as if Mary had her in such a high regard…

“And even then, you were heartily accepted by all of your fellow Gym Leaders! Even by the veterans Chuck and Pryce! And in that regard, can you describe how was the moment when Rockna gave up her Gym Leader position and gave it to you, Jasmine?”

“Yes… it was great. Rockna said she wanted to know the world… like the former Violet Gym Leader. She said she had taught me all she knew, and… admitted I’d make a better Gym Leader than her. I don’t know why she thought that… but… it made me happy. It still does…” Jasmine smiled subtly as she talked, which made Mary feel even higher for her. “I had been her apprentice for four years…”

“That’s beautiful, Jasmine. I bet she doesn’t regret her decision to this day, wherever she is.” Mary smiled at Jasmine, and then looked through her notes some more. “Um… so you first were a Rock-Type Gym Leader, weren’t you?”

“Yes. I liked them and they formed the bulk of my Team… before I returned to my hometown. However… I also got interested in Electric Pokémon like Magnemite and Mareep…”

“And did you notice Magnemite’s sturdiness before the discovery of the Steel Type?”

“Yeah… it made me wonder. It wasn’t a Rock Pokémon, but its body was very hard. I offered my pair of Magnemite for research… I was curious about it.”

“That’s most unexpected, yet admirable of you. Few Trainers would’ve given up their Pokémon for research or experiments!” said Mary as she smiled some more. “How was your reaction when they found out Magnemite had properties of another, unknown Type?”

“I could say I was impressed. Yet, it made me like Magnemite even more. I was surprised when they discovered that Onix had an evolution that belonged to that same Type… it made me smile. I remember… Onix was always my favorite…”

“It must be. And how did you get your Onix to evolve in your well-known trump card of today?”

“Well… Rockna contacted me one day. She said she was all the way up in Shinou. After a most warm greeting, she told me she had a surprise for me… and asked me to send my Onix to her in a temporary Trade. I did… and a few minutes later, she contacted me again and sent it back while I returned her Golem. She said she had to leave, but told me to release Onix at once…” Jasmine then smiled, and Mary could swear she saw a silent tear slipping down her cheeks, as Jasmine’s voice tone also changed. “I did… and I saw Onix encased in a metal coat of sorts, going all the way through its body. It was just a brief second, though… Onix started to shine almost immediately. It was for a few seconds, as its body morphed. It grew several meters, its head became much bigger, and its body turned all gray and shiny. It also had a couple of spikes in some sections of its body…”

“That’s awesome! You must have been so surprised, yet happy. I know it. Um… this question you can refrain from answering. Have you got word of Rockna after that day?” Asked Mary, with a bit of weariness on her voice.

“Um… nope. I’ve been worried about her…” Jasmine was slightly vexed, and her voice sounded a bit cheerless. Mary found this too cute, but thought it wasn’t fair to make Jasmine feel sad. Even if it was the ‘happy’ kind of grief in a way. “Sorry…”

“It’s no problem, Jasmine. It shows how much you care about her, and at least for me, that’s wonderful.” Mary blushed deeply again, to the point she was now stuttering, as if completely clueless for what to ask next. “Well… um… eh…”

“Are you OK?” asked Jasmine, slightly weary, and also a bit uncomfortable.

“Yes. Sorry! Now… eh… what can you say about your fellow Gym Leaders?”

“They’re all nice people… very deep and helpful. I owe a lot to all of them… mostly to Pryce and Chuck. As the eldest, they were the ones to accept Rockna’s decision… and they took me wholeheartedly.” Jasmine smiled with an air of sadness in her face again, while Mary still garbled.

“And… what do you think about… our local Gym Leader?” It was most unsettling for Mary. She had never lost control in such a way. Jasmine sighed silently, but answered within a few seconds.

“Whitney? Well… she’s funny. A nice girl. I’ve heard she’s very strong… and she’s always cheerful. I see her often… always coming to Olivine once a month. She helps her uncle with milk shipments.” Jasmine took another pause as she muttered again, trying to make a gesture to Mary. The DJ didn’t respond, though. Jasmine then noticed she was lost in her eyes. “Um… Mary?”

Jasmine’s voice didn’t help Mary getting off her trance, though. Truth to be told, it made her even more immersed in thoughts. Jasmine extended her hand shyly to Mary’s, and then shook it. Mary came back to senses. “Oh, sorry! It’s most reassuring how you think highly of all your comrades, Jasmine. Whitney does say good things about you as well!” Jasmine blushed a bit, but it was just her regular attitude. Mary, on the other hand, was sweating. Not to say blushing to a most embarrassing degree. She shook her head and got grip of herself again. “OK, a last question…” Jasmine just nodded.

“What would you say if I said that I love…” but Mary suddenly realized what she was about to ask. “Never mind! This is all for today’s interview! Now enjoy Goldenrod’s Radio regular schedule! Don’t tune off!” Mary hastily pushed the button on the small box. The led turned off and Mary rested her back on the chair, sweating, and even panting, as I she had done something that exhausted her badly. Jasmine muttered again, unable to understand Mary.

“Is everything OK?” asked Jasmine. Mary looked at her again. It was most hard to explain. She was aghast that Jasmine could be so cute and sweet… even to he point of being worried about her. Jasmine just kept the glare, which made Mary fall even more for her. Her eyes were just so cute…

“Yeah. Sorry. I lost grip of myself… but there wasn’t much else to ask anyway.” Mary smiled back at Jasmine, a bit nervous. “How did you like it?”

“It was… nice. Thanks for inviting me. However… which was your last question?” the reminiscence made Mary turn red again. She wasn’t meaning to ask that out loud in a widely broadcasted interview, but it came off all of a sudden. Mary shook her head hardly.

“Oh! I was just a bit nervous. Happens from time to time! I tend to say things I wasn’t meant to say. Just forget it, Jasmine!” Mary then laughed, trying to forget about that. Jasmine just looked at her with a clueless expression and muttered. “Anyway! Let’s get out. We’re done.” Mary walked to the door and opened it. She gestured Jasmine to get out first with her arms, and then Mary got out too.

As they walked out of the room, a rather fat man with black glasses and a bulky beard stopped them. He was the Radio Director. Jasmine was startled, but Mary knew she was the one to be in trouble. All of a sudden, the man smiled at her, though. “Most excellent, Mary! As always, your interview drew in a lot of rating. And I know it’ll provide for the rest of the day!” The man smiled, but he suddenly turned a bit serious. “Still… I noticed you tattered at the very end. How so?” Mary blushed deeply.

“I was just… tired! Yes! A once-in-a-while thing. I promise it won’t happen again.” Mary placed her left hand on her back neck and laughed. Jasmine just looked at her, while she walked timidly to the front.

“It’s understood, Mary. I shouldn’t be so strict!” The director let out a laugh as he saw Jasmine in front of him, next to Mary. “All in all, I must hand it to you, Jasmine. Thanks for accepting our invitation!” The man then forcibly picked Jasmine’s hands and shook them happily. Jasmine felt the pull of the man, and was slightly surprised.

“Um… no problem,” she said, blushing deeply. She let out a breath of relief when the director let her go. “It was… a pleasure.”

“The pleasure was all ours!” The director then laughed with enthusiasm. “Well Mary, you’re free for the day. Well-deserved after such a good job.”

“Thanks, but why?” but the director had left already. Mary sweatdropped, but shrugged it off soon enough. She turned to Jasmine, who looked a bit anxious. Mary’s feelings were compelling her to… do something she’d never expect. Still, she had to ask. “Now Jasmine, what are you going to do?”

Jasmine suddenly turned at Mary. “Well… I’ll go back to Olivine…”

“How are you intending to go back home?”

“As usual… by walking.” Jasmine trembled a bit, though. She didn’t have much trouble with walking, but the prospect of crossing Goldenrod again wasn’t something that encouraged her at all. Mary gasped loudly.

“But you said you were very uncomfortable with the cluttering and all that! That won’t do. I’ll fetch a Taxi for you!” and just like that, Mary ran toward the stairs and went down all the way so she’d get to the telephone booths in the entrance. Jasmine tried to follow her, but decided to go slower. She went down through the floors, and when she finally made it to the first floor, Mary had called the Taxi already and walked back to meet her. Mary panted a bit due to her rush. “Whew… done. It’ll be here in a few minutes!” she told Jasmine with a smile.

“Um… there wasn’t a need to…” said Jasmine as she muttered. “But… thank you.” She smiled at Mary slightly. It made the red-haired DJ go even more into her sudden feelings toward Jasmine. Her sweet voice… her shy attitude… her nice manners… it was… just indescribable. It made her feel too much for her. She didn’t notice she blushed too much as well, though. “So… shall we go?”

“Oh… yes! Let’s go outside, Jasmine.” Mary walked to the tower’s entrance door and Jasmine walked by her side, a bit wondrous about Mary’s attitude. They then were out in the park preceding the Radio Tower. Mary walked a few feet further to the roadway. There she stood, checking her watch at intervals. Jasmine just looked around. She still didn’t like Goldenrod…

A few minutes passed, the girls not even moving. But then, a Taxi stopped in front of them. It was of a yellow color, and had a black motif on the doors, with the words ‘Goldenrod Taxi’ next to it. The car stopped and the driver got down. “Good afternoon, ladies. Let me open up the door for you.” He walked to the backdoor behind his own one and opened it. He then gestured the girls to go inside.

“Thanks, Mary…” said Jasmine, and stepped in first. Mary was debating whether she should go or not. It was way too good for her, given her growing feelings toward Jasmine. But she felt very embarrassed and wondrous whether Jasmine actually liked her or not. She walked slowly, the driver looking weirdly at her. Mary took a leap and went inside. She almost fell on Jasmine, but managed to stop herself and just sat next to her… a few inches away. Jasmine looked at her, a bit surprised. “Um… you’re coming too?”

Mary laughed as she always did. “Ah… yes. I have a free day after all! And well… I’d like to go to Olivine. If you don’t mind, of course!” Mary adjusted her glasses, which were a bit unleveled due to her sudden leap. Jasmine muttered, but replied shortly after just by shaking her head. Jasmine then looked back at Mary, whom had her sight fixed on her… again. She sighed and turned to the front. There were two seats in front, and the driver soon occupied the driver’s seat.

“Olivine, isn’t it?” he asked.

“Yep,” replied Mary as she closed the door she didn’t close yet. The driver spun the key and the car rumbled a bit. He then started driving through the streets of Goldenrod. He was quite a calm driver, given his slow speed despite the lack of traffic. It was a relief for Jasmine, though. She sighed again, while she just looked at the window closest to her. Mary, on the other hand, tried to look elsewhere, but her thoughts were focused on Jasmine. She recalled all she asked her, and couldn’t help but get even more immersed. Jasmine was just… too sweet. Too cute. Still… she was strong deep inside. All that Mary could deduce from Jasmine’s answers. It was hard to say. Mary couldn’t deny she had never felt like that for a girl before, though. After all, her best friend had also aroused those feelings, but…

All those thoughts made Mary grow more eager to know Jasmine deeply. She turned to her, and decided to talk. “So, how did you feel in the interview, Jasmine?” The girl was a bit surprised, as she was kind of lost in the scenery she was witnessing, but turned to Mary soon enough. The glasses made her eyes look as shiny as before. Jasmine liked how they looked for some reason… but she just thought they were beautiful.

“Well… I was a bit nervous. Sometimes, I wanted it to end. I mean… everyone was listening to me. It was… I don’t know… different. I’m not… I’m not one to talk a lot. Yet… I felt compelled to. I think it was because… you gave me enough confidence for it…” Jasmine blushed a bit, while she tried to look somewhere else. She turned to the window again. “But… it was nice. You made me remember… many happy moments.” There she was again with her cutesy shy attitude… Mary felt even happier inside.

“I’m glad I could be of help!” said Mary with a very happy tone. Jasmine turned to her again. “I must say… you’re a very interesting person, Jasmine. I hear several challengers curse their luck when you wipe them out!”

“Um… I’m just lucky. And well… the Steel Type is very sturdy. It can’t be beaten easily… it’s not me. It’s the Pokémon I chose to use…”

“No, Jasmine. A Trainer is a big part of the battle. You must have a deep bond with your Pokémon, and I bet you’re also very experienced by now. What with being trained by one of Johto’s best Trainers personally and managing to control a Type no one knew of before! I might not be a Trainer, but I know you’re a… wonderful one. Yes!” Mary was about to stop again. She felt her feeling grow even more. But she really couldn’t allow Jasmine to let herself down like that… seeing how wonderful she was in reality.

“I guess… yes.” Jasmine turned to Mary again, blushing even more. Why did Mary have her in such high regard? She tried to smile, slowly and timidly. “But… well. It’s all because of others that I’m what I am now… but yes. I can’t deny… that… I’ve done a few things by myself…” Jasmine sniffed, while she turned to the window again. She focused in the scenery again. They were finally leaving Goldenrod, as the outside exhibited a beautiful, livid green color. Jasmine always felt happy when witnessing the wonders of nature. Mary couldn’t turn her sight, but forced herself to it. She didn’t want to bombard Jasmine with even more questions… even though she felt her words were helpful. The driver just did what he had to do, though he eavesdropped at the words of the girls occasionally. Yet, they remained silent for a while.

Jasmine felt a bit renewed. Even if she didn’t know Mary at all, she could tell she was a very nice person. She didn’t know the real reason behind her support, but deep within, she truly appreciated it. She felt like breaking the silence all of a sudden. It was as if Mary inspired her to talk. “Um… Mary…” she said timidly. Mary almost jumped out of sheer surprise, as she blushed a whole lot. Jasmine just looked at her weirdly, but smiled a bit.

“What is it, Jasmine?” She barely replied, as her feelings toward Jasmine went even higher. They had made her talk! Something not even Mary expected to be honest.

“Well… I was just curious. How is it to… to be so famous?”

“You’re serious, Jasmine? You’re at least as famous as I am. I’d say even more!” Mary noticed how Jasmine was about to turn to the window again and decided to actually answer the question. “But… I like it quite a bit. It can be startling. I often get many fans out of the tower, surrounding me as I go out! Sometimes, I miss being a normal person.” Mary giggled a bit as she gladly noticed how Jasmine turned to her again. “Fame has its nice side, though! You get lots of money, you get to know many people, and well… I must say that I really enjoy my job. I fought hard for it after all! I was so lucky to be contracted.”

“I see.” Jasmine was kind of interested now. She pushed a button down in the door, so the window would open. She felt a bit of heat now, and the refreshing breeze of the outside made her feel very well. “And… you just do interviews?”

“Well… nope. I also conduct Oak’s Pokémon Seminar, as you must know. I’m responsible of the radio’s mood as well. I do several spots and adverts! It’s quite fun, but it tends to be a bit tiresome. I’m glad we can get to record a few of my interventions for future use!” Mary smiled at Jasmine with her eyes closed. Jasmine felt a bit uneasy, but smiled back at her.

“That’s… nice. I’m glad… that you’re happy.” Jasmine then turned back to the window. Mary, on the other hand, just got even more touched. Jasmine was just too sweet. Maybe she had difficulty with talking, but she really made her feel good. Mary felt that she shouldn’t pressure Jasmine much, though. She turned to the window as well. Now they were entering Ecruteak City. It was a city much unlike Goldenrod in that it was actually very peaceful and empty. The houses were of an old, classic style, and the culture invaded every corner of the town. As the girls looked at the windows, they witnessed the majestic Tin Tower, the monument that was erected to honor the grand Ho-Oh. But then, they also saw the old, burnt-down tower. Mary felt this was a most interesting topic to talk about.

“So, Jasmine. Are you interested in the story of Johto?” Jasmine turned to Mary slowly. She muttered a bit before replying.

“Well… yes. I don’t know much of it. But I have read a few… even though I don’t visit Ecruteak often. I heard… Ho-Oh is angered. That mankind did an awful act… and that it deemed us worthless. As I battle some challengers… I can see where it’s coming from…” Jasmine pulled her right hand to her chest, and closed her eyes. “You know? I… I never liked that. Pokémon are our friends… not our slaves. I really enjoy my time with my Pokémon… I can’t understand how other people can be so… so evil with theirs.” Jasmine sighed deeply, while Mary was even more touched. That way of thinking, and her firm beliefs… it was hard to think of her as a weak person. Jasmine’s voice deepened a bit as she looked back to the window. “I’m glad some humans realize this, though… but it’s not enough.”

“You’re right, Jasmine. Pokémon shouldn’t be abused. That way you think… it’s very deep.”

“It’s just one of the many things Rockna taught me…” Jasmine and Mary felt a slight pull as the Taxi did a turn and then went on further. They were now exiting Ecruteak. The girls had a last glance at the traditional town and then focused their sight forward. Jasmine saw the Miltank dairy close to Ecruteak, and she knew her hometown was very close. The Taxi did another turn. It just took about half an hour where the girls remained silent for Jasmine to see the first sign of Olivine: the imposing Lighthouse of the city. She smiled at the very sight of it. Mary looked at it too. It was just outstandingly majestic.

At last, the Taxi made a stop in the very entrance of the port city. “We’ve arrived, ladies,” he said as he went out almost as soon, and opened the door Mary was most close to. She went out, and then Jasmine did the same. After that, the driver closed the door.

“How much is it?” asked Mary, while Jasmine almost jumped and tried to prevent her from paying.

“You don’t have to pay…” she limited to say.

“It’s no problem at all!” said Mary with a very friendly tone, as she smiled back at Jasmine. The driver went to his door and looked through the window to check the Taximeter.

“It’s 2500 PokéDollars,” he said with a smile. Mary skulked her skirt’s right pocket and got out a green wallet. She opened it and picked up a bunch of money paper. She gave it to the driver as she was done counting it. The driver counted it again and just nodded. He then took off his hat and bowed. “Thank you!” He then boarded the Taxi and drove back home. Mary turned to Jasmine, whom was still a bit embarrassed.

“Mary… you didn’t have to…” she said timidly. Mary just smiled happily at her.

“Don’t worry, Jasmine. That’s just a very puny sum for me! I’d be a very poor host if I didn’t pay!” Mary laughed a bit while she adjusted her glasses. She finally had a better look at Olivine. Though more active than Ecruteak, she had to agree with Jasmine. It was quite calm, and the sea breeze could be felt around. The air was much cleaner, and the mood was friendlier overall. Mary took in a deep breath, and exhaled shortly after. It was quite nice…

“Well… thank you again Mary. How could I…” It was hard for Jasmine to say. She was feeling very touched by Mary’s actions. She felt that she had to do something for her now that she had come all the way to Olivine just for her. Jasmine muttered a bit as she thought of what to say. “Um… would you like me to… to show you the city, Mary?” That question made Mary almost jump. She suddenly looked at Jasmine, with such happiness in her face that Jasmine felt very embarrassed.

“I’d love that, Jasmine!” she replied at last, while Jasmine just nodded.

“Well… just come with me.” Jasmine started to walk into Olivine slowly, with Mary right next to her. They saw a few houses through a lane, and the Pokémon Gym next to them. It was shaped like a giant shard of sorts, and it sparkled intensely with the rays of the midday Sun. Jasmine stopped at it as she turned to Mary. “This is the Gym… you want to see it?”

“Of course I do, Jasmine,” said Mary happily, as Jasmine just nodded and walked to the entrance door, Mary behind her. Jasmine slipped a card through the doors, and they slid open. She walked inside and Mary followed. It was a most conventional sight. The Gym only consisted of a rectangular arena composed mostly of rocks and a few metals all over it. Its surface was made of soil. There were a few seats surrounding the arena, and a few big lights on top as well.

“Well… this is it. I also live here, but… I doubt it’s of any importance…” Mary tried to object, but in a way, it was true. She just looked around the Gym’s battlefield as she walked through it.

“It’s simple, but I bet that’s all you need,” said Mary, still wondrous and examining as much as she could. The clean arena, the nice arrangement and the careful calculations it showed, such as the rocks positions and other things, showed how dutiful Jasmine was about her position. Jasmine muttered rather loudly as she saw Mary walking around and adjusting her glasses quite frequently. She then passed her hands through her long hair.

[Here's the second part. Gawd... why are my One-Shots SO long?]

------------------------------------------------------

“Yeah… most challengers still get confused about the Type… but that’s their fault…” Jasmine contained a giggle as she just looked at the place some more. She let out a sigh and went on. “Well… let’s go on. I feel… a bit hungry.”

“OK, Jasmine. You know where to eat?” asked Mary. She kind of expected to eat at her room deeper inside the Gym, but she wasn’t sure. Jasmine just nodded as she went out of the Gym, and Mary followed. They were back on the streets, and Jasmine walked some more slowly.

“There’s a place… it’s good. I hope you don’t pay this time… I’ll invite,” inquired Jasmine with a tone that suggested that they’d do what she had just said. Mary looked at her slightly embarrassed. If only she could tell her…

“I wouldn’t mind, really!” said Mary as she smiled. “I don’t like… I… it’s not nice. I’ve got enough money. I should pay at least my part… and even yours!” Mary tattered a lot as she tried to talk. It was just very nice of Jasmine to do this for her. Mary felt even more touched as time went on. She walked closer to Jasmine… a rather unexpected want invading her heart. She slowly took her arm to Jasmine’s, and tried to envelope her arm with hers. Jasmine noticed, and just muttered as she took her arm away and stopped abruptly, blushing a lot.

“Um… what do you want, Mary?” she asked, her arms in her back, and her face showing a slightly worried look. She thought Mary’s attitude was weird and rather unsettling. Yet… she really didn’t feel much bad with her. She had to admit. Yet… it was as if Mary wanted to go further than just being an acquaintance. “You want… to grab my arm?” said Jasmine timidly. Mary blushed a lot as she realized she was going too far again…

“Sorry! I think my arm went a bit too far as I stretched it. Just take me to where you want to eat!” said Mary as she placed her right hand on her back neck and smiled, still blushing. Jasmine noticed how Mary blushed way too often when she was with her, and felt a bit uneasy herself. She blushed as well, unable to understand. Mary couldn’t help it, though. She was always a friendly individual… not to say how she felt about Jasmine. She tried to calm Jasmine down by patting her on the back. Jasmine looked at her, and smiled weakly, blushing some more.

“Um… OK.” And so, Jasmine walked on with Mary right next to her. The DJ decided to contain her desires until the right moment came. As they walked through the streets of Olivine, now closer to the shore, they were spotted by a black-haired guy with glasses, wearing what seemed to be a heavily stacked round of blue garments which made him look very bulky. He looked at Jasmine walking with Mary, aghast and with a very disappointed expression. His delusion didn’t make him notice he was walking right toward a post, and he walked on. When he noticed… he had smacked his body hard with it. He fell down loudly. Jasmine just looked back briefly, but went on, as she didn’t notice anything of importance.

The waves broke softly into the port, as the girls walked on. After a few more minutes, Jasmine stopped and turned to another round of buildings, all neatly arranged in a horizontal line in front. There was a very conventional restaurant with a few tables outside and people sitting on them. Jasmine walked toward it and Mary followed. The essence of the dishes could be smelt from their short distance to the entrance. “It smells delicious!” exclaimed Mary as she followed Jasmine.

There was an empty table outside. Jasmine occupied a place, and gestured Mary to do the same with the other chair. Mary went and sat down in front of Jasmine. Almost immediately, a thin waiter dressed with a white uniform and a white hat walked to them. “Ahoy! Welcome to Olivine Restaurant!” The waiter bowed and then noticed who one of the customers was. “Oh! It’s been a while since you last honored us with your visit, Jasmine.” The girl just smiled at the greeting, in her typical shy manner.

“It’s just a special occasion today…” she said as she looked at Mary. The girl felt a sudden happiness; to the point her round glasses went kind of foggy due to her nervousness. She was being addressed so nicely by Jasmine now…

“Oh, I see. Here’s the Menu. Choose wisely!” said the sailor-like waiter as he handed a thin book of sorts to each girl, and then walked away. Jasmine opened it and started to read it, while Mary still kept on looking at her. She was still unsure, but maybe… just maybe… she could get through Jasmine’s timidity and make her realize how she felt about her…

“Um… aren’t you hungry, Mary?” inquired Jasmine as she peered above the Menu she was reading and noticed Mary with her sight lost… again.

“Not much. But I’ll order. It’d be a waste if I didn’t!” said Mary as she giggled and finally started to read the Menu. Jasmine sighed and kept on reading hers too. It took them just a few minutes to decide as they waited for the waiter to come back. He did in a few moments, with a very happy expression.

“Ahoy! What will you order, ladies?” he asked.

“Um… I want a shrimp cocktail only, please,” said Jasmine.

“I’ll go with the grilled fish.” The waiter picked up the Menus after Mary said her order.

“Got it. Your orders will be served soon!” and then the waiter left and went inside the restaurant again. Jasmine jointed her hands as she took a look around, while Mary did the same. She couldn’t help but fix her glance at Jasmine frequently, though. She couldn’t understand it. Why was she so attracted to girls? Wasn’t that wrong? She couldn’t help it, though. When girls were so sweet and cute, she always fell for them. Jasmine was most special, though. She couldn’t explain why… she just was.

“This seems like a good place. So close to the shore! It feels so pleasant,” she said, in an attempt to divert her own thoughts. Though she knew that was a double-edged weapon. Jasmine looked at Mary as she heard her voice.

“Yeah… it’s nice. I like to eat here often… because I can’t cook.” Jasmine blushed slightly as she lowered her face a bit. Mary felt touched yet again.

“You don’t say! I bet you can do a thing or two. Unlike me!” Mary laughed heartily as she slowly fixed her sight on Jasmine. “I always ruin my tries. If it weren’t for the fact that I rarely attempt it anymore, I could’ve burnt myself by now!” Mary smiled a bit as she heard a very soft sound coming from Jasmine. Almost inaudible, it sounded like a giggle.

“Well… I can. I just don’t like it…” said Jasmine. Her tone now showed a bit less timidity… somehow. “I’m just… bad.” Mary smiled at her.

“I see. Maybe you should let me try it myself someday,” requested Mary, still smiling, yet blushing a lot.

“You really would?” asked Jasmine, almost unable to believe it.

“Yes! I’d like to eat sometime without having to resort to plain Moo Moo Milk and cookies, or generic fast food. I like to try all things, and I like the idea of not having my kitchen burnt down for once!” It was weird for Jasmine. Mary’s mood was just so cool and funny. She rarely smiled or giggled, but Mary spurred it without much hassle. She felt Mary could be a nice friend…

“That’s nice… I’ll try to invite you someday.” Jasmine smiled shyly and let out a soft giggle afterwards, while Mary couldn’t feel happier. As time went on, she felt that Jasmine could really be the girl for her. As the girls finished their conversation, they saw the waiter bringing a long vase filled with a red liquid and a few shrimps on top, as well as a dish with a colorful fish on it, which smelt delicious. He placed the orders accordingly and then took his leave.

“Well… eat well, Mary,” said Jasmine as she started to eat her cocktail, while Mary just nodded and started to eat her fish. Even while eating, Mary couldn’t stop thinking of Jasmine. They were having such a good time… or so she thought. Then again, Jasmine sounded slightly happier than a few hours ago. Probably it was just the comfortable feeling her hometown provided, or maybe…

The girls finished half an hour later, even though Jasmine’s cocktail was quite small. Right when they finished, the waiter picked the dishes up and left the bill on the table. Mary picked it before Jasmine could, and just got her wallet out again. She placed the money above the bill. Jasmine felt like grabbing the money paper and giving it back to Mary, but she was a bit too timid to actually do it. She just sighed and resigned herself. If Mary wanted to pay, she didn’t have to stop her. Though it didn’t feel right to make her pay everything… she still had to go back to Goldenrod.

“Thanks again…” Jasmine mumbled shyly as her and Mary got up and left the restaurant. Dusk was approaching, as the orange sky reflecting its beauty in the shore made it evident.

“No problem, Jasmine. I do it willingly!” said Mary with happiness. Maybe Jasmine was just being courteous, but Mary didn’t really care by now. She thought that those subtle hints made Jasmine happy and even provoked her to slowly warm up to her. Jasmine smiled forcedly as she walked on through the port, Mary by her side.

“There’s a last place I’d like to show you…” Mary nodded and they walked on. Slowly, they made it to a lower port. There was a very tall building with a light shining on top of it. Mary looked at it impressed, while Jasmine led her to go on. Mary snapped off it and went on. In a way… the place seemed to be so romantic. The perfect place…

Jasmine opened up the door in front of the Lighthouse as they made it there. Mary helped her, though the door opened by itself for the most part. As they went inside, Mary noticed how it was very rusty inside, and had several stairs. Jasmine started to go up at a slow pace. Mary felt that Jasmine wasn’t fit for this kind of walk, and tried to support her. Though Jasmine did this almost daily, she welcomed the help Mary was lending her.

“This is ever so hard…” she said as they went up. Mary was feeling even more ecstatic. This wasn’t much for her, though the stairs went a long way in an upwards spiral. It took them quite a few minutes to make it to the top, where another door was found. Jasmine opened it again and walked inside.

Mary was impressed to see such a cute room could be in such a rusty place. It was much like a personal place, with the same gray-ish colors of metal as the innards below. Yet, it felt different. There was a table, a chair and it had windows surrounding it in each and every corner. In the middle stood a tall Pokémon of a yellow color. It had a rather dragon-like head with a cuter faction than usual. Its small black eyes had a round red gem between them, and two hornlike ears with black stripes stood at its head’s sides. It had a very long neck with more black stripes that went down to another its elliptic yellow body with a white belly. It also had weird arms reminiscent of a dolphin’s fins, as well as slightly long legs and feet. It had a long tail ending in a red gem too. That one emitted a very bright light, though. The Ampharos made a soft, pleasant cry as it saw how Jasmine walked through the room. Jasmine approached the Pokémon and patted it with her soft hands. Ampharos smiled as Jasmine gestured Mary to come close.

“This here is Amphy. He’s the light of the Lighthouse…” Amphy bowed as he noticed Mary next to Jasmine. “I come with him every day… he’s one of my Pokémon…” Mary couldn’t help but smile and even try and pat Amphy herself. The Pokémon bowed respectfully and let Mary do so. It was nice how Jasmine gave up one of her Pokémon so he could help others…

“He’s just too cute, Jasmine!” uttered Mary as Amphy moved on to the middle of the room, and kept on spreading the intense light of his tail through all windows of the room. “It was to be expected, though. He’s got a great Trainer…” Jasmine blushed deeply at Mary’s comment as she slowly walked to the edge of the room. Mary went with her, her deep love toward Jasmine being way too strong to handle by now. As she looked through the window, she saw an awfully romantic sunset in the far ocean, and the sea sparkling with the light of Amphy and the last sun rays.

“I hope you liked all I showed you, Mary…” said Jasmine, as she placed her hands on her back again and looked through the windows. She felt quite happy. Mary had not only brought back those happy memories, but her cheerful and nice mood also managed to make her feel very well…

Mary was silent, yet she looked at Jasmine and the beautiful sight in front. She was unsure, but she had to try it. She had to… her heart pumped nonstop. She went closer to Jasmine. She stopped, but… she had to. She went a few inches closer… there was no turning back now. She adjusted her glasses fast and placed her right hand on Jasmine’s left shoulder. “I sure did, Jasmine. Thank you. It was beautiful…”

Jasmine was a bit nervous, as Mary was coming even closer. Much closer than before. She was a bit too startled to try and back off. “Um… I’m glad… but…” And Mary finally decided to do it.

“I must tell you something… I… I… Jasmine…” It was way harder than she expected. “You’re… the nicest… sweetest… girl…” she stuttered even more as she trembled, her hold on Jasmine becoming even tighter. “ You’re… so strong… yet… so timid…”

“What do you mean, Mary?” interrupted Jasmine, relieved as Mary’s hold became weaker. Jasmine was now free, but didn’t back off. She was still shaking due to Mary’s words and her deepest blush. Her eyes… they showed a glance unlike the one she had seen throughout the day.

“You’re... wonderful. Jasmine… I don’t know… how… but… I… I really… I love you.” Mary felt awfully relieved as she finally managed to say it, keeping her cheerfully smile at Jasmine. Yet, her breath showed how deeply nervous she was. But she had managed. Still… something weighted heavily in her. Jasmine’s expression wasn’t one she liked. She was a bit surprised. Maybe a bit too much.

“Um…” Jasmine muttered even more than usual. A deep blush filled her cheeks, but… she really didn’t want to keep Mary clueless. She liked her, but not in that way. She didn’t expect those words at all. “Mary… I’m… wordless. I… don’t know… what…” She wasn’t eager to talk much. That was just too surprising. Plus, Jasmine didn’t want to hurt Mary. As much as she didn’t know her, she had proven to be awfully nice and caring. It’d be awful to turn her down in any way. But…

“I know… it’s sudden, Jasmine. But… you showed me what kind of girl you are. And… I can’t help it. You’re… the person I’d like to spend… to…” Jasmine was way too impressed. Yet, she thought that leaving Mary in complete shadows was even worse.

“Mary… I’m sorry… but…” it was awfully hard. Mary stopped her words as Jasmine started talking. Her tone didn’t sound happy. “But… I… I don’t… I mean. I like you, but… not that way… no. You’re… a nice girl, but…. I… I don’t like girls that way.” The words went like a knife through Mary’s heart. She knew Jasmine didn’t mean any harm for her, but still… even after she had opened her heart… “Mary… I’m… I don’t know what to say. I feel… kind of honored. But… I don’t think it’s right. I… I don’t want to hurt… to hurt you further. I…”

Mary understood what Jasmine meant. She felt it was unfair to keep Jasmine feeling bad for what she had just said. It wasn’t what she wanted to hear, but… she had to take it… regardless of how hard it was in her heart. It made her unbearably sad, to the point she felt she’d burst in tears at every second, but she had to be strong… to say there was no grief… and then leave… despite it all being a lie. “Don’t worry, Jasmine. I understand… I… I’m sorry. I dragged you to this. I’m sorry if I made you feel uncomfortable with my… attitude.” It was too hard. “Good bye… and sorry for bothering you…” Mary walked away and went downstairs. Jasmine tried to stop her, but it was too late. She had left when she was about to speak. Amphy looked at this a bit saddened. Mary went out. She did it… but… Jasmine didn’t feel the same way. She didn’t want to blame her for her current pain, but it was hard. She burst in tears as she went to the streets…

“Good night, Charly!” A pink-haired girl had entered the Radio Tower, wearing a tight, white sports outfit of sorts and bestowing her usual cheerful face. The guy at the counter – A guy with brown, curly hair, oval glasses and blue shirt – smiled at her as he went closer.

“Hi, Whitney. What brings you here so late? It’s almost closing time.”

“I just had several challengers today! I couldn’t come until now! I wanted to see Mary. Is she still here?” she asked with a smile.

“I think she is. I haven’t seen her log out at all.”

“Ohh, OK! I’ll go see her. Is it OK?”

“No problem at all, of course!” Whitney giggled and smiled at Charly as she went to the stairs. The guy’s glasses were full of steam as she left…

Whitney went upstairs until the third floor. There was a room. It was where she had been interviewed a while ago. She looked through the window. There was Mary. She sat in one chair. Her face didn’t look much happy as it was usual, though. Whitney felt slightly worried and went closer. She knocked the door. Mary looked at the window to find her best friend. Though her presence made her smile fakely, she still felt destroyed from the inside… but she got up. She opened the door for Whitney to come in. “Hi Whitney…”

“Mary!” said the pink-haired girl as she hugged Mary happily. She let go soon enough, as Mary walked back inside the room and gestured Whitney to come in, a deep blush on her cheeks, but her sad face prevailing. She then locked the room as Whitney went in. “How are you? I heard your interview in the morning! It was great as always.” Memories of that made Mary feel… bittersweet. It had been wonderful… until she confessed.

“It was great. I’m glad you liked it…” Mary didn’t even try to hide her sadness, though she really didn’t want to drag Whitney into it either. She had to fake happiness at least. Her usual mood. But she couldn’t… at all. Despite how distracted Whitney was, she noticed how her friend was different.

“Mary… are you OK?” she asked. Mary tried to smile, but to no avail. She couldn’t fool her now…

“I’ll be honest… I’m very sad, Whitney…” A few tears slipped down to Mary’s cheeks, while her glasses clearly showed her teary eyes. “I… I fell in love with Jasmine as I… as I interviewed her. I even went to Olivine… but… she… I don’t blame her. But…” It was very hard for her to say. But Whitney didn’t need any more explanations. She brought the other chair of the room closer and placed it next to the chair where Mary was at. Whitney sat down and then placed her hand on Mary’s leg. Mary felt a sudden jump, but not even that could cure her sadness…

“I see, Mary. She turned you down?” asked Whitney, her sight now fixed on Mary’s eyes, which still shed some tears.

“Yes… but… I… I can’t blame her. She said… she didn’t like girls that way. I… I must respect her choice…” Mary then cleaned her face off the tears, as she took off her glasses for a few seconds. Slowly, she placed them back on their place. Whitney’s support was helping her a lot…

“That’s so mature of you, Mary. I know she didn’t want to hurt you… but she had to be true to herself. Leaving you unknowing of her feelings would be even worse. Jasmine knew that…” said Whitney, her hold on Mary’s leg becoming tighter, as she took her other hand to Mary’s still hands, and held them tightly as well. Whitney’s warmth made Mary feel slightly happy. Yet, she was doubtful… although she didn’t feel as sad anymore.

“Whitney…” she wanted to ask something. The reasons behind those feelings. Feelings that were against the normal.

“Yes?”

“You think… that feeling like that for a woman is wrong?” Whitney looked at Mary with her smile. That smile that could melt even the hardest of hearts…

“Mary… love knows no gender. Feeling like that for a girl isn’t wrong! You must be confused because Jasmine turned you down, but it’s not wrong at all. It’s different, yes. But not wrong.” Whitney kept her hold, now passing her hand through Mary’s leg.

“You think so?” Mary felt how her deepest feelings toward her best friend were renewing. Whitney’s touch wasn’t helping matters either. But she didn’t want to risk it again. She had lost Jasmine already. She didn’t want to lose Whitney as well…

“Yes! I must say I’ve felt that for a girl before! Yet… I think it’s better to stay away. I wouldn’t bear to lose that girl’s friendship!” Whitney then smiled at Mary with a rather noticeable blush. Mary couldn’t believe Whitney’s words. Maybe she meant…? Or maybe she meant another girl…

“Whitney…” Mary was wordless. She was still sad. But she had to move on. She just hoped that Jasmine didn’t think ill of her now. That’d actually destroy her. “Thank you…” She felt it was better to not confess to Whitney either. Despite the fact that her feelings could very well be mutual, she felt it was better to be friends… for now.

“You’re welcome, Mary. Cheer up! I don’t like you being sad! I like the always chipper and funny Mary I know and love!” Whitney then hugged Mary again. Mary blushed, but hugged her back. She was happy of having support. Yet… she wanted to end in good terms with Jasmine. But she was too afraid to call her too soon. She decided that Jasmine, but mostly herself, needed time to divert… so they could talk again someday.

***

Jasmine was at her room. She had put her white dress on already, as well as combing her hair with the typical upward pigtails and the rest falling down. She had eaten breakfast already as well. She looked through a magazine with Pokémon pictures. She was looking at the small Flower Pokémon, Bellossom, when she felt this itch again. She still remembered what had happened a few days ago between her and Mary. Though she fully meant what she had told Mary, she still felt bad for her…

Jasmine turned to her room’s telephone. It was of the old kind. It had no screen to look at the other person. She picked it up, and slowly marked a series of numbers. She did it while trembling, but managed to mark it. A few tunes were heard, and then a voice. “Good morning. This is Goldenrod Radio. How can we help you?” said a young girl’s voice.

“Um… this is Jasmine… from Olivine. I would like to talk… with DJ Mary.”

“Let me see if she’s available…” A few tunes were hard for a minute, until another voice picked on.

“Hello?” Jasmine recognized Mary’s voice right away.

“Mary… hi,” she said with an insecure tone. Mary was so happy. Jasmine was calling her…

“Hi Jasmine. How… how are you?”

“I’m… fine.”

“I’m glad! Um…” Mary still felt very bad. But she wanted to explain things. “I’m sorry for what happened, Jasmine. I just thought…”

“No… I must apologize. Mary… I didn’t want to hurt you. But…”

“Don’t worry, Jasmine. I understood it all in time. It made me sad, yes. It still does… but I don’t blame you at all. I understand. I just hope… that you’re not scared of me…”

“Not at all, Mary… no. You’re a great girl. Thanks for everything… hadn’t it been for you… I would’ve flunked at the interview…”

“No, Jasmine. Thank you… for being comprehensive. For not letting me down. For… for not forgetting about me…”

Jasmine felt weird, but she smiled a bit. Mary was back to how she was before her confession. Jasmine knew she’d take some more time in reality to get over it, but she was starting already… “Mary… I’m glad you’re OK.” There was something Jasmine wanted to tell Mary that day, though. She was shy about it, but felt that she should try at least. “I… I wouldn’t mind… being your friend…”

Mary was unable to believe it. Jasmine really wanted to be friends! Even after that awful moment. It made Mary feel even higher for her… but she resolved to let it die with time. “Thank you, Jasmine. I’m glad… and so happy. If you ever need me, call me!”

Jasmine blushed a bit as she muttered slightly. “I’m happy to hear that. Now… about you coming to try my cooking… I’d like it if it was soon…” said Jasmine with a soft giggle. The girls kept on chatting. It was very surprising. For both of them. Mary was happy, though. On the other hand, Jasmine was touched too. Mary really helped her to be more spontaneous than usual. She reduced her shyness a bit. And she felt well when talking with her. Albeit a bit startled due to Mary’s true feelings, Jasmine resolved to try and make her forget. That’s the least she felt she should do… for her new friend.

*Sniff* Yes. Not all romances end well. That's what I wanted to show with this One-Shot. But... no matter what... love can still exist. In a different way.

I hope you like this. Reviews are appreciated. :)

Well... what can I say?

Even though it didn't end up in romance, it still ended up nicely. Jasmine, Mary... the way you portrayed them, in my opinion, is great. I hope the next thing you write is good again!

...

Oh, hell with it. Thanks for the birthday gift, even if not on the right day! I'm gonna treasure this story as much as possible! You rock, man!

...and I really hope you keep this up!

Well finally decided to get over to this forum and read this.

Just wow, just wow. Mary's, Jasmine's and Whitney's {You just can't leave Whitney out of a fic can you} personalites are very wonderfully done. This one shot, while it didn't end romantictly ended very well done. I loved it.

I'm very happy to see you liked it so much. I wrote it for you indeed. It's the best thing for me to see you enjoyed it... ^^

And thanks to the charm you gave to me, I'll more than likely keep it going! If only more people appreciated it...

Ah well. I'm happy for reading this. And thanks for all the help. This story really wouldn't have been possible without your help. :)

Thanks for your reply. And well... I did my best. Yet, it's good to know that I really can capture the character's actual personality. That's one of the points that scares me the most when writing Fics, but I've done such a good job... or at least I've never heard complaints about my management. Just praise... maybe I shouldn't worry too much anymore, because I CAN do it. ^^

As for Whitney... pretty much. She's part of my writing traditions. She's at least mentioned in ALL Fics I write. <33

All in all, thanks a lot. Glad you liked it. :)

While it's good... I really expected more. Oh well. Guess I had beginner's luck when I posted "The Flower of Love". Not to mention that, while I also wrote this story with all my self and liked it a whole heck of a lot as well, it didn't beat "The Flower of Love". That much I know...

Still... I'd really appreciate your replies. Here's hoping I see more than this throughout the week. If not... oh well. I never expected I'd ever compete with the big bad Mainstream going on anyway. But I'll go on...

Thanks in advance, if any... :)

Smogon sucks.
Excellent story! Good job! Some of those parts were very cute, and you captured Jasmine's personality from the games way better than the Animé did in my opinion.

I don't watch the anime.... ever... so it's nice to see a romantic ficcie about some game characters! :3 And holy Cheese do I love how you portrayed Mary in that fic. Almost perfect. ^_^ It was a little long for my attention span, but I'll take 'a little long' any day over a fic that doesn't do as good a job as you did going into the in-depth detail you went into with the character's emotions.

My only bit of critisism is that the dialogue seemed a teeny bit stiff in some parts. For the most part, though, I loved the way the conversations were written out, and how you gave Mary and Jasmine their own ways of speaking. The ending was sad, but I can see why you chose to end it that way... And the last little bit, with the Whiteney/Mary, made me smile a little~

I told you I'd be here! >3 Even if I'm not really into shoujo-ai, or at all, you still deserve a whole lot more reviews than what you've gotten so far. I kinda suck at reviewing, but I'll do my best. ^^;

Okay, where to start... I really enjoyed reading their interview the most. Mary is so adorable and hyper, while Jasmine is really quiet and shy, and I guess that's what makes Radioshipping such an awesome ship, with the whole opposites attract thing.

Mary blushing and thinking about Jasmine throughout the whole interview and catching her a taxi was really cute. The part where Jasmine is thinking in the taxi about how Mary inspired her to talk was really cute, too. Their whole conversation in the taxi was, but meh. =P

lol @ Mary stretching out her arm "too far," and the guy walking into the post was funny, too.

Jasmine taking Mary to the Lighthouse was really sweet. I felt really bad for Mary, though, after she confessed to Jasmine, then running off like that...it was really cute, but really sad at the same time. But that's a good thing. XP

=O I KNEW A WHITNEY CAMEO WAS COMING! She and Mary have a really great friendship, so I'm glad I was able to see that in this fic.

Anyway, I really liked how you ended this with their conversation on the telephone. I'm glad it ended with Jasmine wanting to be friends with Mary, rather than not calling her back/anything at all. I can just imagine Mary trying Jasmine's cooking. XD

Very nice description and detail, I could picture everything clearly in my head. I didn't see any spelling errors or anything. Just thought I should mention that stuff, since it just seems a review wouldn't be one without it? lol.

But to sum things up, this fanfic was awesome. Good fics like this shouldn't be irgnored, so, keep up the great work, Orion, and I'm sure you'll get more reviews soon! =D

Thanks for the reply. I'm glad you liked the story. It spurs me to try it again... ^^

As for Jasmine's personality... either I did a superb job (And if Seijiro's opinion is any indicator, then I sure did.), or the Anime twisted Jasmine and ruined her from the root. That's my biggest pet peeve with the Anime, and one of several reasons I certainly frown upon it. I think Jasmine is one of the best characters in the franchise, and I sure loved her personality in the games. It helps that it's the main Universe I base my stories and my beliefs from. Still, I'm happy to see you noticed it. Thanks again! :)

And the last little bit, with the Whiteney/Mary, made me smile a little~
Awww. Thanks a lot for you reply. And no worries. Be sure that, when you see a Fic by me, it's likely based after the Games. It's the Universe I like the most out of the 3 main ones. Plus, it's the Universe where Jasmine wasn't ruined (Dunno about Special, though. As it stands, I believe they treated her as it should be...). I must admit I took Mary's character from both Special and the Anime, seeing how she was most meaningless in the Games. Thanks for your comments, though. I'm very happy to see I can actually capture characters this well...

I'm glad you liked it. When I get immersed, I really go too far, hehe. My One-Shots are always this long. At least the two I've written. But well... it does pay off. I'm happy to see I actually evoked emotions in you. When a reader feels the same I did, I feel utterly happy. I'm glad...

I'll try to check on where I went stiff. Thanks for telling. As of now, I'm glad you enjoyed the story. Thanks again! :)

I told you I'd be here! >3 Even if I'm not really into shoujo-ai, or at all, you still deserve a whole lot more reviews than what you've gotten so far. I kinda suck at reviewing, but I'll do my best. ^^;

You're the best... thanks. I'm glad you liked all of it, for I try my best. I can't say much else... you said more than I ever expected you would. Thanks for the appreciation, though. Things are looking up, but I'd really like some more reviews.

Yep. The Ship is cute. Shame Jasmine is straight, but she's still wonderful. And well... I'm glad you liked the Whitney bit. No... that you liked all of it. I really did my best with this Fic as well, and I'm glad you noticed it! ^^

Still... thank you for this great review! I hope I can count with you in my next job, if any. Thanks again! :)

I'm glad to see things are looking up. Any other reader out there... I'd like to know what you thought of my story, and how you felt about it. Whether you do or not... thanks for reading! ^^

Reviews are always appreciated. :)

Oh wow, that was really good. I'd never thought of this pairing before, but you handled it in a realistic way. Jasmine's personality seemed just right- actually, they all did. Well done, this is a good fic :)

This is so goshdarn good.
The personalities, the plot, the ending, everything. It was so perfect *_*.
I wish more fics like this were in the fandom. It was just way too cute <3

Thanks a lot for your reply. I'm glad that you enjoyed the story. I'm also very happy when I see people praising how I treat the characters. My biggest fear, as I said before, is to write characters wrong, for I'm completely against Out-Of-Character scenarios. It's great to see I've always made a good job. It's also great that, despite my Ships being not Mainstream and whatnot, it makes people see how'd they work. Thanks for the props. I shall keep on trying my best, for I like people enjoying what I write. Thanks again! :)

Thanks for your reply. I'm glad you enjoyed every bit of my story. I'm not one to bestow a big ego, but it's very cool to hear stuff like that. I make my best effort when writing. And when it comes to Shipping Fics, I'm so passionate I'm awfully happy to see other people finding its appeal and cuteness. I, for one, wish for more Fics like mine. Not to boast, though. I meant Girl/Girl Fics, hehe. But for as long as I'm here, I'll keep on writing what I enjoy, hoping for other people to enjoy it too. Thanks again! :)

Well... I finally got the response I expected. Don't feel impeded, though. All of you who read this, feel free to comment. I like to know how you felt about the story, and if any, the mistakes you found and the points to improve. Not to mention your opinion on the Ship the Fic's written around. All's good, and I'd like to know all of it. Replies are always appreciated. Thanks a lot to all of you who read this, whether you replied or not. Shows that I actually can do this kind of work well enough... :)
