There appear to be rumblings that next week's episode will feature a new intro replacing Battle Frontier.

Battle Frontier has been going for almost 30 episodes, and it is rather spurious they would change it with Anabel & Brandon still being Sihlouetted but its possible

I'll let you know on further developments and we will have a plethora of screenshots when it does air :)

"Oh I really hope so!"

"Nah, that can't be :("

"lol dats so kewl ty sbrei"

"WHAT!!"

"Pie, mother****er, do you eat it!?"

My serious feelings about this: I always enjoy a good opening change, but as even you point out, Serebii, the whole 'Shadowy Frontier Brains' thing isn't quite done yet. Why start something they can't (or choose not to) finish?

Probably because they didn't plan to change it. As we've seen in the past, the writers have included several things which have suddenly been abandoned. Those that come to mind include the GS Ball, Brock and Professor Ivy and Team Magma/Aqua.

They constantly dig themselves into holes, and just change it without regards to what the current situation is.

Let's have a summer themed opening. Fanservice for all... that's what everyone truly wants, right?

Right?!

I hope you agree with me when I say that those situations a slightly different. Actually, they are super different, as they're issues that are done in the anime itself. Some suspension of belief or cut of connection has to occur when one views the opening (we done consider the Mysterious Dungeon sequence to be canon, after all).

They are totally different, but the basic logic still does apply.

The writers can't seem to stick with one idea, and often change their minds or decide to totally abandon something at the drop of a hat.

I do get what you're saying though.

LOL. Back on topic, I really hope their is a new opening next week. I always love seeing new openings!! Maybe we'll see some 4th Generation Pokemon, or spoilers of captures/evolutions.

Okay then. That's good, because I also understand that the writers are a fickle bunch that can't remember a good plot point even if it bit 'em in the tuckus.

Oddly enough, they are quite established with remembering old Pokemon in endings (See: Glory Day 1). Maybe OPs/EDs get the special treatment?

The only continuity the writers seem to have is with the Pokemon the Trainers have (or have had) and major events (i.e. Ash's various League competitions back in the Battle Dome episode).

Things like the GS Ball and Brocks affair with Prof. Ivy seem not to matter TOO much in the overall flow of the anime.

Truthfully, I'd like to see what else the creators have in store for this new intro. Battle Frontier wasn't an instant favorite of mine (neither was the whole set-up of the arc at the beginning), but both have grown on me greatly ever since.

Can't wait. :)

Yo, let me be the first to welcome you back, sCiZ~!

That may be all the continuity affects, Trainers and major events, but what else is there in a Pokemon Anime?!! [cries]

As long as they manage to get Anabel on the shadow roster in BF, I'll be okay. If Brandon can score his own opening, fine by me.

But there's still a chance that the Frontier Brains scene will stay, right?

Wouldn't it have made more sense to change the ending theme? Truth be told, I find that listening to Glory Day each week is getting REALLY old now. And the visuals ain't too stunning either.

..eh, on a positive note, perhaps this will shed some light on whats going to happen during the rest of the Frontier, or indeed, AFTER the Frontier. Hopefully quelling the reeking fumes of all the monotonous 'Maybe they'll go to the Sevii Islands!?' garbage that tends to ooze out of the sewage pipe more often than not.
But either way, its not like the intro isn't messed up enough in the first place. Chimecho is still there (Oh, there's an idea. Lets see if he sticks around in the new one!), Dustox was randomly added, scenes have been re-arranged on multiple occassions. They may as well go the full 9 yards and just start from scratch.

That's not what I was getting at. What I mean is, why change both, when they can just change one? It's not like Glory Day has as much...um...'continuity' if you will, as the main opening. Changing the opening now is like eating the chicken but ignoring the vegetables. Change the ending and nobody would care less.

CyberCubed

Yeah, ok!
Maybe 4kids asked them to do it since they need a new opening for Season 9.

One question though, isn't the BF opening the one used for the least amount of episodes? I mean why make a new opening now, especially since they continually update the BF opening with new Pokemon and scenes anyway? Are we sure that this is not just the Mysterious Dungeon scene changed, just like it changed from the Mew/Rukario scene? Maybe a small segment dedicated to the Ranger games is in order.

Gravy has a nice idea though, this new opening could tell us what's happening after the Battle Frontier. Ash almost has 6 symbols and May almost has 4 ribbons, we're about done.

I assume the Kanto Grand Festival will be before Brandon, but what's after him? A league for Ash or nothingness? Sevii Islands or Oore? Ash re-enters the Indigo league? A Giovanni/Team Rocket arc?

Will Ash go to Fiore, the land that the Ranger games take place in?

The possibilities are endless.

Thanks V. Good to be back.

I think this is the 10th Opening for Pokemon in general?

Even though I'm a fan of new openings, this one does kind of seem out of place. One reason I think they're changing it could be that this new song will be the theme for the Pokemon Rangers movie this summer. Don't the openings usually coincide with with an upcoming movie (like Battle Frontier went along with Movie 8), anyway?
