Exactly what the title asks...

His team currently consists of three first staged, four second staged, and soon three last staged Pokemon. The opening may change or get updated every now and then
In my opinion Pignite and Pikachu are pretty much good, but the rest... Oshawott and Snivy seriously should battle more and show more strenght, Scraggy is still a baby. Krokorok is evolving so he may end up being the powerhouse, but the other Pokemon just don't appear too often for me to classify them ready for the league...
What do you guys think?

And no, this isn't a thread to speculate on new things for Ash's Pokemon, that's what you have the Next Pokemon Thread

If this is a useless thread feel free to close it though

Scraggy and Oshawott are the ones IMHO that are not ready yet. Scraggy is still struggling to succeed with his Focus Blast and I'm still skeptical about his skills as it is (evolve him already Ash!). I would like to see Palpitoad with a new move (a poison one) and would be nice to evolve him too. Snivy, Boldore and Oshawott (mainly him) should be seen training a little more and that's it.

Krokoodile is fine.
Pikachu is also fine.
Pignite is great already.
Boldore is ready to rock too.
Unfezant is ok I guess.
So is Leavanny at this moment.

It's a tough question because there are multiple ways you can look at it.

In short, no his team doesn't seem strong enough at all. Only Pikachu, Pignite, Leavanny, Unfezant and Krookodile seem powerful enough to make a good appearance for Ash. Snivy, Scraggy and Oshawott don't seem powerful at all, and unfortunately it's nothing to do with them being in their first stages and size. They don't compare even half as powerful as Ash's smaller Pokemon (such as Bulbasaur, Squirtle, Totodile and Corphish) at the time of their respective leagues. Unfortunately there battle win loss ratio is terrible aswell.

Pikachu is bound to get a major power boost at the league like he normally does, although he does seem at a very powerful stage now in Unova so it all seems believable for Pikachu.

Pignite has been portrayed very powerfully so it's strength in the league should seem believable and strong, and the fact Leavanny, Unfezant and Krookodile are fully evolved Pokemon should be enough to make them seem powerfully.

I'll have to wait and see, but I see Ash placing in either the Top 4/2, or the writers may contrast heavily on Kanto and place him back at the Top 16 which would be a major kick. He could potentially win the league, but it wouldn't be believable because of the strength his team looks like.

the question isn't if there strong enough because if the writers want them to be they will be strong enough to take on anything. the question is are they strong enough to believably do well

I'd want upgraded movesets to be honest, at least a little variety.

His team is awful. The worst one since Johto but it doesn't matter, if they want them to suddenly be powerful and breeze through the League they'll do it.

Pikachu: Thunderbolt, Electro Ball, Quick Attack, Iron Tail. Check.
Unfezant: Quick Attack, Aerial Ace, Gust, Air Cutter. If they upgrade this move it would be better. Otherwise, she's ok I guess.
Oshawott: Tackle/Water Gun, Razor Shell, Aqua Jet, Hydro Pump. This move seems a bit... basic. If it can be replaced with something else... and a bit more of training is welcome.
Pignite: Tackle, Flame Charge, Flamethrower, Fire Pledge. Maybe a Fighting type move, but power-wise he's ok.
Snivy: Attract, Vine Whip, Leaf Blade, Leaf Storm. Competitively ok, but if she replace one Grass move with another attack of another element she could be even better (beware of Sap Sipper Pokés)
Scraggy: Leer, Headbutt, Hi Jump Kick, Focus Blast. Training and Focus Blast mastery, then he's passable.
Palpitoad: Supersonic, Mud Shot, Hydro Pump. He only needs a fourth move, but otherwise he's a quite strong fellow.
Boldore: Sandstorm, Rock Blast, Rock Smash, Flash Cannon. Training, nothing else.
Leavanny: Tackle, String Shot, Razor Leaf, Energy Ball. An offensive Bug type attack and he's perfect.
Krookodile: Crunch, Dig, Stone Edge. Another move would be appreciated, but he's ready for the League.

Basically I think half of his team is ready to face the League, but with a good strategy (and plot armor) they might be able to obtain some good wins.

Ash's team isn't anywhere as good as his Sinnoh or Hoenn teams IMO, but if his Johto team made it to the top 16, then the Unova team will probably get to the top 8, assuming Ash doesn't use reserves. If he does, he might get to the top 4. Say what you want about his Unova team, but his Johto team was ridiculously bad.

After seeing how it took 3 pokemon to take out a koffing I'm not sure. Snivy hasn't even learned any new moves yet. Snivy needs to learn a new move and evolve and Oshawott just needs to evolve because popping out of its pokeball and failing in the battle is getting ridiculous. But like somebody previously said they can easily make Ash's pokemon win if they wanted to. I mean look how they made Snivy actually do well against suwama before losing and actually made pignite beat both emboar and heatmor.
