Is Harley evil?

I think he is, but I don't really feel like getting into that right now. This poll is meant to be an argument continued from this thread (WARNING: Spoilers).

Harley isn't "evil," but he is pretty mean and harsh...But that's what makes May actually have a REAL Rival! Drew is a little sweetheart, and her other rivals like Kelly and Savanah are gone >.>

Drews too nice as a rival and has become friends with her, so although Drews a great character Harleys the appropriate rival. Hes not a villain in the series, hes just an antagonist for May

I wouldn't say he's evil. He's assisted in defeating TR before. None of his tricks necessarily defy any of the contest rules, despite being underhanded. Cunning? Yes. Ruthless? Somewhat. Evil? No.

No I dont think he's evil. I think hes a really cool character and a welcome change for a rival. Why make all the rivlas nicey nice? Its not Harley's fault May is ditzy and falls for his tricks that wouldnt work on someone with half a brain. But it is Pokemon so May has to fall for the tricks. Just like Ash and co cant spot team rocket in stupid disguises.

...Well, he's a villain to Haruka you could say. I guess it really depends on how you personally define "villain." Is he evil? No, not really. We know he's nice when you don't insult his pretty pokemon. B*tchy though? Hell yeah. That's what make him different than the typical rival. Shuu should take lessons from him. I mean, I know some people in real life that are backstabbing, but I wouldn't call them a villain or evil. But seeing as this is an anime, I suppose I could see both points of view.

So, yeah. I vote other. Cause I can go either way on the issue. Regardless... He still kicks everyone's a*ses to the curb. <3

Of course he's not evil! He maybe morally wrong but then again aren't we all morally wrong no matter what? Besides Harley is just cheap. Not evil. But then again the cheap guy's are kind of cool anyways...being cheap is...well cheap. Heh. Anyway I personally have nothing against both coordinators. I mean I find it a bit odd people hate the guy because...he plays cheap and he hates May. But then again...we all have our personal opinons and people are allowed to hate characters I suppose. I can see from both sides...

Just because Harley is someone who isn't friends with the main character and a "real" rival unlike Drew, Gary and alot of the people in the Leagues doesn't make him evil. It just makes them different... Which is sort of what the show needs anyway. ;/

But he is trying to manipulate May or whatever, so I can see how he's "evil" for being May's antagonist.

To me, Harley isn't really evil. Cunning, manipulative, and hates May. But not evil. It's not as if he's trying to take over the world. The world isn't black and white after all.

Harley...evil? That's not how I define evil. If you're evil, you act that way to everyone. As taitofan said, Harley is b*tchy, and it's funny so everything works out. But no, IMO, Harley is not die hard evil. Hell, the TR trio isn't evil either. XB

P_B, Harley being evil or not evil wouldn't make him a bad character. Villains are fantastic characters sometimes after all. However, I see him as more of a diva then a villain

I wouldn't go so far as to call him evil. In terms of plot, though, he's definitely a villain. And awesome that way.

What kind of an idiot would think he's evil? He just attacks the trainer as much as the pokemon fight each other. He uses his tact and cunning against people. It's just that May is such a ditz it doesn't work.

Do we know that Harley has a grudge against all those people? I thought he just kept a scrapbook on co-ordinators. He took Drew's picture when he first met him, and Drew hadn't done anything to offend him. Plus, if it was a hitlist, there would have been no need to draw a skull and crossbones above May's photo.

It's ironic, though. May earns Harley's lifelong hatred because she was accidentally less than polite about his cookies, but he treats Drew as a mere annoyance even though Drew was FAR ruder to him in the GF.
