i was wondering, can you get shiny mews on g/s/c? the only way i can think of how to get a mew onto g/s/c is to trade one over from r/b/y, but that means it certainly wouldnt be a shiny, so is it possible?

Yes. The shiny factor of G/S/C isn't based on some hidden number specifically for shiny or not, like in R/S/E, but it is based in the IV's of a Pokémon. The IV's for R/B/Y and G/S/C Pokémon are the same. So if you catch a Mew with the correct IV's using the Mew bug, you can have a shiny Mew. Just like with a shiny Mewtwo or any of the three legendary birds.

cool, but if you traded the shiny mew back to r/b/y and then traded it back to you again, would it still be shiny?

I see no problem with that, although my worry is that I don't think shiny Pokemon were around in R/B/Y...

Yes, you can trade back and forth, and any shiny pokemon will remain shiny on G/S/C. It just wouldn't appear so on R/B/Y, that's all.

No they didn't, but since the IV system was the same in R/G/B/Y and G/S/C, and shiny Pokémon depended on the IV's in that time, you could have a Pokémon in R/G/B/Y that is shiny in G/S/C.

Okay, that makes sense. Thanks.
