• Hi all
Just a notice, we recently discovered that someone got into a moderator account and started hard deleting a load of key and legacy threads...around 150 threads have been lost dating back to 2007 and some weeks ago so we can't roll the forums back.
Luckily no personal data could be accessed by this moderator, and we've altered the permissions so hard deleting isn't possible in the future
Sorry for any inconvenience with this and sorry for any lost posts.

Is it best to evolve Eevee earlier than later?

Personally I think it's best to evolve Eevee earlier than later, because I evolve Eevee to Flareon at lv25 and it did not learn many good attacks and I think it was weak even when I levelled it up to 50 (compared to the rest of my team). I evolved another Eevee at lv5 to Vaporeon and it learned some good attacks and I thought it was strong at lv50 (I dunno if the EV's are less or not, Speed is very high), but it may just be that Vaporeon is better than Flareon. I think it may be best to evolve Eevee earlier than later, but what does everyone else think?

(ps. I'm talking about the element stones, not espeon/umbreon which can only evolve on R/S/E and depend on happiness)

The best time to evolve Eevee is just when you get it, in Celadon Department Store buy a Water/Thunder/Fire Stone and to evolve it right away. To get Umbreon or Espeon, a good way to evolve him earlier is to give him 10 Proteins and other things like this and it will be an Umbreon/Espeon level 26.

flareon dont learn any decent moves until it learns flamethrower at level 52

Um, doesn't it learn BP at level 36. o_O If so, then you know the answer.

Eevee don't know good attacks.

I think better evolution is earlier.

I never keep my Eevees unevolved. I evolve it as soon as I get it, so I immediately head for the Department Store and buy a Water Stone. :3 I always evolve my Eevee into a Vaporeon, because It happens to be my second favorite Pokemon XD

I personally think the best idea (after beating the E4 and all) is to breed your Eevee (or evolved form) from Celadon, and evolve the offspring at lv5, that way they learn their elemental attacks.

i did happen to evolve an eevee to an Umbreon at lv.7 and it is pretty strong so yes,it would be sufficient to evolve the eevee in the beginning.

how did you manage to evolve it at lv 7?

Hatch at level 5, make it happy and raise it two levels (In RSE, of course). I've managed to get lv.6 umbreon and espeon on my fr. I honestly think it's better younger. Not because it will end up stronger, because it will be as strong at level 30 if you evolve it at level 30 or level 5, but because the attacks they learn in their elemental evolutions will end up being better suited to them, if you get what I mean. For example, faint attack on umbreon would be better than, say, quick attack. That sort of thing.

Later, because

-Eevee gets Baton Pass
-Eevee levels up the fastest

I win teh thread!

WTF are you talking about?

It's easier to level up its evolutions cause they are stronger, yet need the same amount of experience to get to lv100.

It really matters which moves you want your Eevee to know.

I totally agree. It depends on the movset if you want a calm passing Espeon then its best to stick with your eevee untill you can breed. although I evolve straight away and then make a Eevee egg and learn it baton pass the n make a secound egg.

If you breed it then, yes, early is better.
It's best to give it the stone once it hatches, then give it the EXP. Share and battle the E4. This way it will level up quickly and learn the moves faster as well.

i evolved mine into jolteon as a last ditch effort to have a good electric type for the E4. Then i bred and hatched and evolved one into a vaporeon. I might trade over another eevee to train for an espeon. But yes, it is much easier to evolve them earlier.

I'd say you should evolve Eevee later.Because Eevee has some good moves, some can be useful on your Eevee evolution.like Flareon can have quick attack since it is kinda slow but has strong attack.Jolteon/Vaporeon can have bite if you need another attack. And Espeon can calm mind baton pass.you can relearn the attacks it's higher form had by a mushroom.

I prefer waiting for Eevee to learn Bite, and only after evolve it into Espeon.
As for the other forms, I evolve them straight away.Managed to get a lv 8 umbreon too.

you're saying let eevee evolve later to learn bite and quick attack, but when I was training a vaporeon which evolved at lv 5 it learned bite and quick attack (i think this was at lv25). I think that they will learn the same attacks as eevee and its element attacks. I'll let you know if jolteon does not learn these attacks (am training that from lv5 evolve at the mo).
