They're releasing the Release date and all the American Names in about 5 to 10 days (Mid november) so I hope they get good ones. I've translated a few using my limited Japanese language skills and..

Yonowaaru = Duspirit
Muumaji = Mummagi
Diaruga = Diamoth (Diamond Behemoth)

Looking pretty good so far..

Leaving SPPF! G'bye!
They will get english names sooner or later anyway.

Im partially dreading the release of the American names. Last time there was an outrage about Kyogre's name. Everyone prefered Kaiorga. People were astounded that Crawdaunt was not called Lobstar (well, it did make sense as its a Lobster with a star on its head, but theres no need for such an outrage) and people seemed to be appaled with some of the names such as Flygon, Duskull and Chimecho, but I have to agree there, they did seem abysmal at first.

Of course, I would be looking forward to them, but I am predicting some more of these outrages yet again, so I will simply have to keep out of them.

It's just the exotic charm that the Japanese names have. When they're translated into English, they don't feel so exotic anymore. I would bet that the Japanese feel the same way: I'll bet there are at least a few Pocket Monsters fans who are getting sick of bad portmanteaus in Japan and will eagerly wait for Nintendo of America to come out with the English names.

I was totally relieved that Crawdaunt wasn't named Lobstar. What a completely unoriginal name. Sure, Roosterno (many people's prediction for Baashamo) isn't any worse than Blaziken, but it's not any better either. I don't remember people being appaled with Duskull. In fact, it's one of the better 3rd gen names. Flygon...yeah, I still hate that one.

So far, Mime Jr. is unoriginal, Bonsly is kinda lame, Munchlax is predictable yet decent, and Weavile is great, so I think the names will be all over the spectrum again. (Though I doubt we'll get something as banal as Seel, which remains the pinnacle of unoriginality)
