Is Kyogre the best water type pokemon?

Swampert Master
In my opinion, NO! I can beat it with my Swampert, even at L100.

That's rubbish.
Kyogre is faster than you, and kills you in 2 hits.
Swampert kills it in 3 hits.
Kyogre can swap into an Earthquake, and still kill you before you do it.

Saying ludicolo can beat it is crap.
It's true, but Quagsire can beat it too.
That doesn't make Quagsire or Ludicolo Uber standard.

I much prefer Lapras and Milotic. Kyogre's not that bad, but it's major flaw is the automatic Rain Dance. Heh, got Thunder?

the reasons i hate using kyogre and groundon, is every time they come out they have a little scene of them having a weather thing, it takes to long.

It's the best water pokemon because of kyogre's ability and it's movepool, not to mention it's stats, which makes it a really good water pokemon.

In that case, turn the battle animations off, but then again Drizzle gets annoying

Is Kyogre the best water type? If by "best" you mean "strongest", then of course it is. It's a legendary and has some of the best stats in the world of Pokemon. Its primary flaw, however, is that since it is a legendary, it is restricted from battling in too many environments. Suicune is also a great water legendary.

The most useful water types, in most everyone's opinion, would be Swampert, Kingdra, Starmie, Gyarados and Milotic (though I disagree with the latter two). Vaporeon is a good choice too, as is Blastoise if you can get over the fact that it functions as a slightly mediocre Suicune.

*sigh* my bro has an uber Kyogre.
Since I got Ruby, I can't say, have never had one. I like my Blatoise or my Suicune, they will always be my best:)

It is definitely the best water pokemon due to the fact it is legendary but there are other water pokemon I prefer like lapras or gyrados.

Haha, you're kidding right? Groudon is at the top of the uber list-yes, stronger than Kyogre. Groudon is a better pokemon to have on a team. Any water pokemon can replace Kyogre. Kyogre has alot of unneeded power. Starmie could go in there and do just as good. Groudon, however, is a team player and he can benfit your whole team. You can use more variety on your team with him. Definetly much more variety then a bunch of water and electric pokemon. :/

In short, battlewise- Groudon is better than Kyogre and you can ask any competitive battler, and they'll say the same.
I disagree and I direct you to their base stats:

Kyogre: 100 100 90 150 140 90
Groudon:100 150 140 100 90 90

It all depends on what you need for your team - a special sweeper (Kyogre) or a physical sweeper (Groudon). I was merely stating my opinion and all but I find it hard to believe that all competitive battlers prefer Groudon to Kyogre. Both are uber beyond belief no doubt - I just happen to prefer Kyogre and you Groudon. Let's just leave it at that.

I agree with ya - cept dump Wailord off your list and add Kingdra or Swampert to it. Wailord just sucks with his poor defensive stats - sorry.

kyogre is pretty cool for a water type, but then again i perceive this aquatic monstrosity to be a little slow for the likes of me.

I know what you're trying to say, but I'm talking about having an overall competitive team. Kyogre in a sence, only cares about itself. Its trait, Drizzle, only helps itself. The only pokemon it can actually benefit are water and electric pokemon, which isn't a very diverse team. Groudon, on the other hand, is a team player. He benefits everyone. Mewtwo and Deoxys are better Special Sweepers anyway.

I'm not talking about what people prefer as far as favorites go. I'm talking about full out, who is better to have on a team. Groudon is the better choice. He's definetly not, "lame."

Despite Kyogre's popularity and overall stats, I find it terribly ineffective in any team really. (expecially for uber standards). Stat-wise, its easily the most "power-heavy" water type, but its by no means the most useful or dangerous. Its a big nuclear-powered whale. Thats about it. Its slow, very slow, and super duper blunt. Anyone can switch to a lightning type without much fear and nuke this thing.

I like vaporeon/lanturn so much more. My lanturn can obliterate any kyogre in almost all situations.
