Is Kyogre the best water type pokemon?

Despite Kyogre's popularity and overall stats, I find it terribly ineffective in any team really. (expecially for uber standards). Stat-wise, its easily the most "power-heavy" water type, but its by no means the most useful or dangerous. Its a big nuclear-powered whale. Thats about it. Its slow, very slow, and super duper blunt. Anyone can switch to a lightning type without much fear and nuke this thing.

I like vaporeon/lanturn so much more. My lanturn can obliterate any kyogre in almost all situations.
Electrics can switch into it without much fear? Seriously, besides Lanturn, every electric is 2HKOed by Surf, some even OHKOed, and Kyogre can survive Thunderbolts from all of them.

Thats not true. Im sure an Ampharos could take out a Kyogre pretty easily.. just thunder wave it first and you should be set.

Strangely enough, electric types are less effective against Kyogres than others..
Kyogres have weak def, a Gyarados would tear it to shreds..

The basic special sweeper Kyogre can take out Electrics pretty easily and has high Special Defense. Sure Drizzle helps them out but as you said yourself electric types are less effective against him, which is to be expected - he is a Water legendary after all.

As for Gyarados, here's a simple equation...

Calm Mind + Thunder = Death for the Water/Flying type

more like, a single thunder.

There is more to Pokemon that just simple type weaknesses "Mewtwo_God".
This means that just because Ampharos has a STAB's Thunder / Bolt, it doesn't mean he can even challenge Kyogre.

I'd prefer Blastoise. At lv. 66, he can take on practically anything.

Kyogre is the king of all water types, my top emerald pokemon and has VERY few counters. Namely lanturn, blissey(maybe), lanturn, snorlax, regice and they have to be completely unharmed or they get killed by a surf. In short, KYOGRE PWNS YOU.

Only Parukia will be a match for Kyogre, due to higher base stats. Still, it can get Thunderbeamed.
Still, Groudon beats Diaruga with EQ.

It is just more than just stats, the nature affects it, what level you caught it at (lv40 in sapphire,lv 70 in emerald), if you used rare candies or not, the EVs and hidden values, but most of all, the trainer, do you think it is good, everyone thinks differently, so you decide.
