Back when Tigers used to smoke.
So I'm noticing a trend here with the Serebii fanbase.
In the anime section, most Pokemon anime fans don't really think Ash is that interesting of a protagonist. People do actually like Ash when he makes smart decisions. Ash can be badass as seen in the XY series. He's had a lot of memorable moments but even if he can be a great protagonist, he seems to be viewed as one of the least-interesting characters of the anime.
In the manga section, most Pokemon fans in-general who know of the Pokemon Adventures manga often know or hear that Adventures Red is basically described as a "much better Ash" with a far more satisfying conclusive story that was over years ago. Red is now a badass legend among the Pokemon Adventures lore, even serving as a role-model and inspiration to other future protagonists. However, even though this Red counterpart is a favorite among Pokemon fans, this beloved character is considered by the majority of the Pokemon Adventures fanbase as the least-interesting of the Pokemon protagonists. For example, for a lot of Adventure fans, Red's straightforward Pokemon Journey story isn't as interesting as X's story, Adventures take on Calem who is depicted as a lonely introvert who has a hard time trusting strangers and this introverted behavior is hurting his relationship with his Pokemon.
Finally the games. Red is usually a beloved piece of fan-service all the way up to Sun and Moon which was a huge surprise for fans. In Let's Go however, it seems to be different among the Serebii fanbase. He's considered by most Serebii fans, at least from how it looks like, as easily the least-interesting and even the most boring of the RGB trio. Many people love rival Green's snarky personality and his growth from the years and fem protag's Blue is loved for her personality and team themed around deception and trickery and many fans are quite intrigued of what's her background. Red on the other hand is just "dot... dot... dot...", that's really it. It seems like a lot of Pokemon fans, even some outside of Serebii, are kind of bored of Red and are even tired of the Red fanservice, some hoping that if he does return again, he returns with actual character and dialogue like Blue and Green.
So I think you can tell Red and some of his counterparts, although are great characters, are the least-interesting of the many great characters of Pokemon. However that's just how I perceive things. Do you think Red and possibly all his counterparts, such as anime's Ash and Adventures Red, are some of the least-interesting characters of the Pokemon series?
