Is this generation taking a strategic turn?

With attacks like Trouble Seed, what do you think will become of this generation?

I don't really get what you're asking, but if you mean are the attacks going to be really srtong this generation no, they're just showing us some of the strong attacks they've created. But seriously, could you be more specific.

The answer is obviously yes. *points at the Physical/Special attack thing*

One Day More
I don't think the Physical/Special change actually marks a change to using more strategy. It's just a sort of "realism" adjustment, primarily owing to the misplacements of Dragon, Dark and Ghost in the "wrong" type categories and some Pokemon like Hitmonchan that should be a lot better than they are (using Elemental Punches).

Trouble Seed strikes me as strange, and I can't help but feeling that we have misunderstood the move.

Yes it does. Mewtwo is in an Uber class of its own. And my lucky Swampert gets stronger with Ice Punch>Ice Beam.

Master Of Rayquaza
Yes indeed pkmn seen to get more strategic with every Genration just like with the 3rd generation were they introduced special abilities.

I'm thinkign its to attrac a older audience as well as the younger ages...im 16 and still love to play pkmn and i dont plan stoping anytime soon ;)

im really good ad these games and just as i mastered the 3rd gen metagame they introduce a another metagame that may be more complicated wich gets me into these agme even more

For Swampert? One attack that makes it so those Special EV's can be put elsewhere. Ice Beam+Curse+EQ=Deadly.

However, it is mostly near Ubers benefitting from this.

EQ? >_>; Sorry..

Th' Duck

What? Huh?
With the Switch, Swampert's EQ's could go up on the Ritcher Scale! (now do you know? :p)

Anyway, I think Trouble seed is a bit of a strange sounding move. The only thing it sounds good for is for stopping Rest. I think (hope) it might've been mistranslated, the way Filter first was.

I don't really care, I just base my pokemon so that I am just able to take out any challenge.

Back to what this thread is supposed to talk about, yes I think it will.

G/S/C was about increasing stats and such, moves like Baton Pass and Spider Web were in their hayday. Smeargle was actually amazing. Stats ruled the era.

R/S/E was all about and still is all about sweeping. Speed and attack strength is the name of the game. The object is to strike quick and strike hard. If you don't believe me go to the main site and look at how many of the Pokemon of the Week Pokemon are sweepers, Physical or Special.

My theory is that D/P will be more about status conditions if trouble seed is a clue, but I don't know. I'm really looking forward to the game. My Hikozaru is waiting patiently for me...

It's actually very good idea. How many of you have used the tm ice beam on pokemon? We've gotten stuck with pokemon all knowing the same attacks. This adds some more variety. I hope there are a lot, a lot, of new attacks, with many interesting effects.
