Is this Pokemon hacked?

I noticed in one of my brother's Emerald cartridge that he bought used (Which he has resetted now.) had a Blastoise level 87 that was met at Mauville City at level 5. It seemed to have had an OK moveset (In that there weren't any that it couldn't learn.), the stats weren't off the charts, and there weren't any gibberish in its summary. It being found in Mauville kind of caught my attention though.

So is it hacked, or was there a way to get a squirtle in Mauville that I had missed? It was probably traded from another player, because the starter this particular player picked was Blaziken. (If it was, shouldn't it say, "Probably met at ... at level x" ?)

Thanks.

Hmm, I was thinking of that too. However, shouldn't it have said "hatched at level x"? I've only hatched a couple of pokemon and that was a few weeks ago, so I'm not sure what the summary should state. Seemed pretty weird to hack for a Squirtle.

What do you have to do to the pokemon for it to say "probably" met at X location?

Like .. the game doesn't KNOW?

It wasn't hacked, it just hatched. Did you keep it or did you start the game over?

Not hacked then? Hmm, thanks. I don't recall having any other pokemon with similar Summary Index information regarding their origin, so it was kinda bugging me. I just left it, I didn't want to bother fixing up the moveset and the EV's on it. I have a copy of LG/FR somewhere around if I ever want to pick up the old starters anyways.

I'm not sure either, but the starters from R/S I sent to Emerald had something like... "x nature, probably met at Lv5, ROUTE 101." I was under the impression pokemon traded has "probably" in their summary, regardless if it was hatched or not.

I h8 power. It <3 me
I bet it hatched on FR/LG, then he traded it to the emerald version. But if he did get that Blastoise from FR/LG, It's supposed to say 'Probably met at route 2' or something.

The Skarmories I hatched had "x nature, hatched at Lv5, MAUVILLE CITY."

Then, there you have it. The Blastoise was also hatched.

they say hatched if you hatched them there, and met if someone else hatched it there.

Watch this:
I shark a pokemon. The pokemon is a level 8 houndour met in the wild.
Then I catch another at level 9. One male and one female. Then I breed the two. I hatch the egg for a level 5 houndour. I delete the sharked ones. How could you tell I sharked the houndour? Seems impossible to me...

How about:

I use one of the Pokemon Maker programs now freely available just about anywhere to put together a Gameshark code for a Jirachi. I set the trainer name to WISHMAKR and fill in the met data, trainer and secret IDs appropriately. I even make it shiny for kicks.

I could enter that thing in tournaments and even Nintendo won't be able to tell the difference.

There is absolutely no way nowadays to tell whether a poke you trade for is legit or not. Sucks but there you go.

For the record: I reckon the blastoise is legit.
