On island seven if you travel south use surf then travel east or west there will be islands with caverns on them. What are they for? Do i need to do something in them?

You catch unknowns there. That's pretty much it. You catch them after solving the rock puzzle (get the seven rocks in the star-esque pattern in the cave in Ruin Valley), and then Unknowns appear in the caves. Sadly, there is no reward for catching all the different types of unkowns except knowing you wasted your precious time trying to spell out the alphabet )_)...(_(...that's it, methinks.

I never fancied The Unowns...the're only there to give the player something to do when all pokémon are trained to Lv. 100 and all pokémon caught. Then one can catch all Unowns and train each and ever single one of them to 100 until the next game will be released.
I find them quite useless...

I know serebii says ;201-!; ;201-?; are in viapois and monean but I have searched a good 8 hours and found only A's and Z's and I've gotten all the other unown. how do you get them?

Tanoby Ruins only have the Unown and are just there for the sake of catching them if you want. ? and ! Unown are very rare, and can take a very long time to catch them. (I ended up catching both after 2 hours. :p) Anyway, this has been answered, so it can be closed.
