I've Gone Pokemon Crazy(help)

Status

Pokemon now is almost the only thing I care about. I feel like selling alot of my prized non Pokemon items so I can get more Pokemon stuff. Almost all I can think about is Pokemon. Must have every Pokemon game. How should I handle this. I used to be a YGO fan that I thought could go no further, but now I am a more crazier Pokemon fan.(at the moment) Do you guys now how to calm me down?
Edit:I think I am calm for now, but I don't know when I will lose it.

Well I don't know if posting at a pokemon forum will help cure your obsession -__- If I were you, I would give your games to a friend so they can hold them for a while. Give that person your tapes and DVDs of the anime too if you like it. Edit your firewall so it blocks out pokemon sites. And of course absorb yourself in your life and your friends, spending as much time with them as posssible. If you get involved socially pokemon will become just a hobby

I go through these phases too, but things other than pokemon. I get over them eventually. RESTRAIN YOURSELF. Next time you go out, DON'T BRING A DIME WITH YOU. Playing the games should be safe. I'm not sure if joining a pokemon forum is going to help anything. Shouldn't hurt too much though. Just don't sell anything to get pokemon stuff. You'll soooooo regret it later. I always do. And most pokemon merchandise is lame, anyway.

I know how it feels [except I love being pokemon crazy]

On topic:

Uh, let's see here........ take a vacation from everything pokemon for a week. Don't touch, buy, or look at pokemon stuff. I know it may be hard but you can at least try

Find something else you like, not pokemon, and stay away from it. I am obsessed as well. But only for the games. Once I get the game, I'm fulfilled and calm.

There's a load of other games out there that are incredibly fantasic. If you don't want your Pokemon obession to be so profound, I highly recommend taking a break to find them if you can. I usually play some good and wholesome Path of Neo or Battlefield 2 to take a break from the Pokemon stuff I do on the Internet.

It's okay to really like Pokemon, just don't go ballistic over it.

This is called "addiction" and it is psychologically unhealthy. If he's truly addicted, guys, he can't just put down his games just like that. It's like alcohol; he'll have to come back to them because the obsessive personality does not give up. If you're truly worried about this addiction, give your cartridges to somebody to hold for a week. If it doesn't bother you that you're obsessive, join the club.

Nothing wrong with obsessions, as long as they aren't harmful (or the harm doesn't bother you too much... XD)

Stand back, people, I've experienced this sort of thing first-hand before.

This exact same problem befell me in 1999. First of all, I suggest you dig deep down and try to isolate why you like "Pokémon" so much. Is it because you're trying to be popular? Are you trying to shun something unpopular that you liked before by replacing it with this? If so, then I encourage you to stop immediately. This is what happened to me, and I took it too far. What needs to happen is, you have to get out and experience new things. Try looking around for television shows you think you'd like. Read a book. But above all, leave your obsession behind. Lock up all your Pokémon memorabilia, or sell it if you have to, just get away from it. If it's not there, it can't hurt you. Once you feel that you've shed your obsession, you can ease yourself back into being more social. Talk to people, and ask them what they like. Show interest in what they have to say, and you may find things that you can replace "Pokémon" with in your life.

I know how hard it is to like "Pokémon". I know the pain and suffering of being teased, taunted, and shunned because you've gone off the deep end. But you recognize your problem, and that's good. It took me a good three years to undo my obsession because nobody tried to help me. I remained blissfully ignorant until I hit puberty and realized that no girl wanted to go out with a guy who thought "Pokémon" was the coolest show on television. Be strong, friend. With my advice and a whole lot of effort, you can give up "Pokémon".

(No, I'm not taking this too seriously. "Pokémon" is a social killer. Believe me, almost NOBODY likes it anymore.)

I'd try to try some other stuff for a bit. You know, partake in books or comics, maybe try to draw something other than Pokemon. You don't have to not touch the stuff, just try to limit yourself. Maybe like 15-20 minutes instead of hours.

Those suggestions don't work very well. I've been isolated from pokemon for as long as two months, and that has had quite the opposite effects. The problem is that this is not a chemical addiction, and staying away from pokemon objects doesn't help (unless you are purely a game addict). You have to take out the idea of pokemon out of your mind, which is very difficult. And then again, you have to ask yourself if that is really what you want to do. The best solution is not to fight the addiction at all; it subsides after a while. You will still like pokemon, however, unless you are the type that gets bored a minute into doing something new.

Interesting, you calmed down 11 minutes after posting this... I don't think you'll have that much trouble. ;)

I used to be quite addicted to Pokémon myself but it ended itself eventually.
One thing is if you're having a good time and enjoying yourself, pushing other things aside (such as minor homework and chores).
Another thing is playing constantly because you want to isolate yourself from things that are taking place in your real life. Eh, going a bit off-topic here I guess. It's good that you've calmed down and you ought to take it easy.

I don't know anybody IRL that still play Pokémon, so I guess you could call it a social killer in some ways. I never did care too much for social events anyway.

I don't know if this will help, but think about this:

If there was no electricity or batteries, what good is Pokemon? Nothing. You can't eat it, breath it, or use it for shelter. All it does is entertain, nothing more.
