I read that it is possible to download (in addition to Celebi) 20 or so additional Pokemon. Can you get them all? What level do you have to be to download, i.e., number of badges, etc. What equipment did you bring? GBA SP but is it cable linked or wi-fi attachment or what? I don't want to get to the event and not be able to download these fun Pokemon.

People have said that technically you're not supposed to download all of them, but the people actually running the machines let you. You get them all at level 70 (lol, level 70 Bulbasaur). I think you have to have the National Dex in the game, and that's probably it. It was link-cable, otherwise RS wouldn't be able to download them. Btw, I haven't gone to the event, but I looked at others' posts, so you could have done the same. ;)

*shrug* I went to the one in Arlington, and got all 20, plus an extra Umbreon and Absol. I also got an extra Celebi. The people there seemed pretty lenient, as long as you got the cart (and your GBA) and a HELL of a lot time (you'll be going through the line 10+ times; it's two pokemon per trip through), you can easily get all 20. Bring extra carts too, have all your 3rd Gen. games with you, because the one I went to, you could get one Celebi per cart. *nod*

Edit: you just need the Pokedex. I don't THINK it had to be National, I downloaded onto a LG cart that I know was not yet National Dex. You don't need to bring a cable either, they have one at the booth.

The national Pokedex gains you access to all the other pokemon in Fire Red and Leaf green that you couldnt gain back on Red and Blue...In those games, the National Dex holds the data of Pokémon 152-386 so now you can trade over Ruby and Sapphire Pokemon...any Johto Pokmon you gained from Colosseum,Ruby, and Sapphire.. and later on in Fire Red and Leaf Green you can catch some of the Johto pokemon.. Hope that explains it well enough

Okay -- this may be a stupid question -- but I thought you had to have the National Pokedex and I am not even close to that point in Emerald so I went back to my Ruby and Sapphire games and what I would like to know is -- how can you tell whether or not your Pokedex has been upgraded?

At the Rocks events they've held all you needed was the regular Poke Dex. I don't know why they'd change it now. Seems like a lot of little kids wouldn't have the National Dex.

In FR/LG/E, you get the National Dex after you beat the E4 (and in FR/LG you need at least 60 Pokes in your 'Dex before it'll be upgraded).

In R/S there's no National Dex per se, but if you trade with FR/LG your Pokedex will now show all 386. However, you don't need a "National Dex" in R/S in order to get non-Hoenn Pokemon onto the game.

But does your Pokedex now say National Pokedex or does it look the same just with more slots?

It will say
Seen
Hoenn dex:92
National Dex:104
Own:
Hoenn:38
National:40
or something to that effect in the dex.

For the National Dex in R/S, the background will have dark gray with black stripes. I have all the Pokémon on both R/S but not on the others. Yeah, I just sharked the whole PokéDex for both of those games so I could have all the complete data on each character for my fanfic.
