Correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks like Manene is the Pikachu of Team Rocket. I mean, it spends it's time freeloading on James' back and I have never seen it in it's pokeball since it was caught. Anyone else feel this way?

It's so good to see a Boy and his Mime together...

Reasons for this:

- They want to establish a much more playful atmosphere with Manene.
- They want people to accept Manene.
- It isn't James' to keep forever, much like Ash and Larvitar.
- They are trying to get it out of its Pokeball a lot more than Chimecho was.
- James is comfortable around it.

It's not Pikachu until it starts winning them battles.

I think meowth remains as close to a "pikachu" for Team Rocket as they're ever going to have. As for manese, James hasn't had it for too long... it'll have to be seen if the writers allow it to develop a big enough character of its own before it can be said how significant its place is.

Manene isn't TR's Pikachu, James just bonds with it like he does with all his Pokemon pretty much. I like how you at least know that James loves his Pokemon though, with characters like Brock out there, you just never know.

Yeah, it's a pretty commonly held belief that Kojirou doesn't really belong with the Rocket-dan. Whenever his true personality shows, it isn't at all what one would expect from a member of a powerful crime syndicate.

Well, James does seem to be getting less meaner, I mean, before he would do all sorts of bad stuffm and even his Pokemon looked scary, with an exception of Victreebel and Weezong, but, when these two Pokemon were gone, James started to get cute-and-not-so-mean-looking pokemon, Cacnea, Chimecho and now, Manene.

Also, I doubt Manene will evolve, just like Cacnea, because, like mentioned above, I think the writers are trying to give James cute pokemon instead of scary and tough looking ones (these kinds of Pokemon are what Jessie usually has, even though, she would want a cute pokemon herself) but, if Manene does evolve, then, well...I dunno.

here's a question for yas how well do we know james lets look at the facts
he is from rich family and has a Jessie look a like named Jessebel for a fiance and the pokemon he has/has had are: Koffing/Weezing, Victreebel, Growlithe (called Growlie), Magikarp/Gyarados, Hoppip, Manene, Chimecho. He is a member of team rocket. also a bit of a wimp, has a bottle cap collection and has a soft caring side njormally seen when he is saying goodbye to a pokemon he owns (like Chimecho).

manenes character is promoting the fourth gen. its a blatant plug. simple as that. if it was in a pokeball and never showed, the writers wouldnt be stirring up enough interest in D/P. its always shown because pokemon is a large part a huge advertisement for the games. not that its necessarily a bad thing, its just how it works

Well, there doesn't seem to be a lot of promotion going on for Diamond/Pearl at the moment... so I don't see that manene is supposed to be that big of an advertisement just yet. Perhaps it's more like a "teaser" of what's to come...
