Cilan's very timid, anxious, and lacking in self confidence. Chili is the standard hothead and Cress is more laid back as a sort of balance to his brothers. If anyone had a near nonexistent personality it was Cress. The memory link storyline builds off of Cilan's aforementioned self confidence issues for the Gym's strength that he mentions after you beat the Gym in the originals. I disagree on the others as some of them were just as one note (mainly thinking of Burgh and Skyla right now).

They'll most likely give a flashback or at the very least provide context since this episode did air awhile ago regardless. Wouldn't be the first time they'd be confused anyway. Like Dawn owning a Quilava.

I don’t see that being quite the same, Quilava could be seen as an off screen evolution for a character which has happened in the past, Brock’s Steelix, May’s Wartortle and Venusaur, Clemont’s Diggersby, Serena’s Delphox.
