'ello, 'ello! It's time for Pokespe SWSH for November!

After Darkness, this time it's the Tower of Waters! Mustard reveals his true form and unleashes Single-Strike Urshifu.

Guess now we know what Kubfu WON'T become.

Meanwhile the Crown Tundra team has arrived at the Dyna Tree Hill, where they encounter a trio of familiar-but-different bird Pokemon.

Hop chooses to face Moltres, Bede gets Articuno, and Marnie is stuck with the worst choice for a Dark-type Trainer, Zapdos (seriously, switch with Bede).

I'm happy the games isn't forcing Kusaka to rush with the arcs anymore
But on the contrary, if he does end up rushing to start the SV manga asap and screws the ending for SwSh, he only has himself to blame because while I do enjoy the slow pace this arc has had, the slow pace could have definitely been sped up if it meant he had to get it done before a certain time period
Basically the slower pace should not come at the cost of a rushed and poorly written ending, like SM arc had in the manga

I don't think any SM extension would make the ending any better for me tbh
I'm optimistic when it comes to SM. I think whatever they add to ORAS might give us a better idea of what to expect for SM.

As for SwSh, if next month is not the ending and it continues for a few more months then we will be in uncharted territory.
I think this is the first time that the new chapter doesn't begin by the time the first games of a new generation are out.

I remember the pace in SwSh really picking up pretty suddenly a couple months before Scarlet and Violet were announced, so I wonder if that was when Kusaka himself got the memo that Gen XI was coming in 2022(remember, that was a surprise for a lot people considering PLA came out in January).

Some people were very adamant that Legends meant Gen IX would be next year despite the overwhelming evidence against it.

Considering how that game gets put on a pedestal, especially after BDSP's reveal, would you forgive them for thinking that?

I mean, releasing two big games in less than 12 months, and announcing the second just a month after the first releases is kind of crazy. In hindsight the plan was probably to release PLA in 2022 but covid delayed that and they had DeNa make BDSP to fill the gap, and now we're back to regular schedule. But I definitely don't recall the majority opinion being that Gen IX was coming 2022. I think the most common expectation was PLA DLC or something like that.

Yeah, why wouldn't Bede be all over a Fighting-type opponent as as Psychic and Fairy specialist?!

I think PLA wasn't originally going to be a thing - that they were going to make a Sword/Shield style Diamond/Pearl remake but complaints and demands for an open world Pokemon forced GameFreak's DP remake team to throw it out and use what little they did to make PLA. They definitely weren't planning on a game set in Sinnoh's past from the looks of it.

That aside, I like that they're condensing the DLCs.

There is no way that could have realistically happened given the timeline and given how different PLA is from a traditional mainseries game. Not to mention they have been aware of the interest in open world given the wild area and the SwSh DLC, it wasn't a sudden random shift.
