Japanese games....

Are the Japanese games in Katakana or Hiragana or Kanji? Also, are they written so that when you sound it out it sounds like English? Because I know that some Yu-Gi-Oh! cards do this but I'm not sure if the Jap. Pokemon games do this...I'm just wondering.

Yeah, it's not Katakana. I first played the Japanese version Silver (import, not ROM) when it was released. My friend down the street borrowed it from his friend, and so I borrowed it from my friend. I got the game almost completed in a minimum of 32 hours. I only had Typhlosion as my strongest and high lvl Pokémon, at Lv83 lmfao

I miss playing that Japanese version. I didn't know what to do at all but messed around with it. I actually played 18 of the 32 hours when I had the version.

So, in terms it's not Katakana text but mainly Hiragana text.

When the series first started it used no kanji, due to the memory of a Gameboy game. All the Pokemon and item names are in katakana, due to them being made-up words. Most of the text would be in hiragana, as is normal, however I believe they've been adding kanji more frequently.

If any of the DS games are using Kanji, most likely kanji will be put in. The reason why they haven't done so is because the resolution of the GB, GBC, and GBA is too low to support kanji.

Well, I can't speak for the resolution of the GB or GBC but I have Fire Emblem 6 on GBA and that has kanji a-plenty so as far as kanji is concerned, the GBA can support it and there would have been very minimal problems, if any, in introducing them to Ruby and Sapphire. Based on the fact they're not in the GBA games, I would imagine they wouldn't be in the DS games either.
