I would like to see Johto, as well as the other regions, with a new region. Thats probably asking to much, but it would be cool, as long as they dont...take ANYTHING OUT LIKE ON GSC!!!

The game has been confirmed to take place in a new region. Furthermore, considering that G/S/C had two watered-down regions, I'm not too sure that they would program two regions onto the same card. Besides of which, Japan didn't like G/S/C very much at all and I would expect that Gamefreak and Nintendo, being focused on the Japanese market, wouldn't try to make this game any more like that series any more than they must.

WHERE IS PIDGEOT?!
but...it does!!!! i loved it.

the thing is, what made RS so boring was the fact that after the elite 4, theres nothing but battle tower and rayqauza. there was no more story. sevii islands, johto and battle frontier all did nicely in adding more depth to the games, and gave them that finishing touch. rebattling a new elite 4 whilst catching loads of different pokemon that had just become available was particularly satisfying.

im sure that they can make a good DP region (big, colourful, plenty of stuff to do) AND add little old Johto in for something to do after the elite 4. back me up, people!

I'm going to openly confess that the majority of admiration I have for Johto, and GSC in general, is purely derived from nostalgia. Having a second region to go to after the first, with the region in question being Kanto, they some how suaded me over to a side of pure excitement.

In today's world, I don't wish for Johto to return all that much. Instead, I want them to do what they did before and give me a whole other region to explore as reward for completing the main game.

Who can say?
I would rather have a huge new region to explore than have watered down ones but I love Johto! It would be cool to revisit it/have a new game set in it (like Fire/Leaf?) but not at the expense of losing/limiting anything new. But I do agree D/P will need to have something to explore after the Elite Four, to keep the game going.

That's a little much to demand, don'tcha think? These aren't CDs that can be swapped on a home console; these are portable games. The goal is to keep it on one card to maximize portability. Two cards just for some extra content? And what about keeping the data straight? The premise is a bit too messy.

well they may not have much after the elite four but don't the gymleaders get new pokemon after the first time you battle them, so there's a lot more stuff to do. ;238;

Johto had its time already, and I'd rather Gamefreak focused on making another big, detailed region like Hoenn instead of playing the nostalgia card and taking up space with old regions. Quite frankly, GSC Kanto sucked; most of the few optional activities Kanto had in the first generation were gone. It was mostly just dead space.

There is one thing associated with Johto I wouldn't mind seeing again, though. Remember how Cianwood was connected to an entirely different landmass? Perhaps D/P could take place in this unknown area southwest of Johto.

What is a possibility is the creation of a GBA cartridge that acts as an "expansion pack" to Diamond and Pearl and contains all of the data on Johto. It would not be playable as a standalone game, but with it and D/P, you could access Johto from the new region through some mechanism in the game. Furthermore, the game could work to incorporate Kanto and Hoenn via the respective games that contain the data on those games.

However, I suspect this as improbable since they would most likely only want you to trade with the other games. Bringing the region itself closer to D/P would tarnish the out-of-this-world ambience associated with trading with other regions and having just their Pokemon in the new region. While it's something I wouldn't mind seeing, it's something that I can't see knowing Nintendo and Gamefreak.

It was already stated that you would not be able to revisit ANY old regions (that means NO Kanto NO Johto and NO Hoenn). They just want to focus JUST on the new region. Sorry to burst your nostalgia bubble.

I say remake G/S/C about 6-10 months after D/P. Say SunGold and MoonSilver or something? Yea it seems more realistic than wasting space or D/P.

I say they include 2 cards, but it comes with a holder or a thing that lets you use bothlike the one they came with for the Gba or a thing that lets you use both, or they could include a feature that has Johto and ???, but once you beat those (which arent watered down) you fcan insert FR/LG and get the kanto data and go there (not WD), then the same with R/S, not WD.

The problem with that is that you would most likely need to keep the "expansion pack" in with the game started and therefore could not trade from r/s/e/FR/LG. And as for the 2 cards... they're called pokemon diamond and pokemon pearl, why have each individual one have a 2nd cartridge?
One possibility that might be semi-plausible is have R/S/E/FR/LG act as this so-called expansion pack and have it where when D/P and one of the others are both connected that D/P could read the map/data/etc and use that as a way of traversing old areas.

As far as add-ons, Nintendo are considering you buying the older games their add on. I just hope they don't have just new pokemon in the game like with RSE because it forces you to either buy another game and trade (if you have the ability to trade with someone else, which I don't unless it can be done online or between the GBA and DS port-how plausible is that?) or use a cheat device, which I have no interest in doing because I want to use the wifi to battle fairly (I dont consider using a pokemon caught unnaturally with a cheat device fair in human battle).

So, yeah, I don't expect they will send out add ons, unless they are in the form of new games.

As for regions, I havent read anywhere the announcement about no old regions being included, do you have a link? I did think for a while that a cool idea would be to have every region, but I don't think a DS card is really big enough.
