I stared at the ground as blood flowing out of my paw out of my paw melded with the dirt, and came alive. It looked like a small dinosaur, standing on it's two rear legs. It was about a foot high, and had a short neck, a large head, with a big mouth attached. Just as it started to look around, the metal that was flying above opened it's beak, and launched a orange orb at the golem, shattering it. I lifted my bleeding, right paw, and after extending my claws I slashed at my left leg. Blood flowed out of the cut, and melded with the dirt, just like last time. An identical mud-golem was created, ad just as it stood up on it's legs, the metal bird destroyed it with another orb.

That was it. My already pointy fur stood up, and I felt something jump from me to the metal bird, then saw a bolt of lightning fly from me to the bird. I will never forget the cries the creature let out as it plummeted down, static surrounding it. After it hit the ground, a pinkish beam of less than a centimeter in diameter shot out from the other side of the field to the bird, and the bird disappeared, then the beam retracted.

From the same place that the beam originated from, some was launched into the air. As the object fell, I could see that it was a ball. Completely white, and about three inches from top to bottom. When it landed, it split apart through the middle, and out came a big, four -legged lizard. On the end of it's long, skinny neck, it had a head shaped like a spear tip. On the other end, just barely visible, was a tail just as long as it's body. Looking at the thing scared me, and I didn't really feel like attacking it from up close.

As I started to draw up energy to hurl a blue-ish orb of some odd kind of power, it started to slam it's tail against the ground, and i could feel the ground vibrate from the pounding. But before it started shaking hard enough for me to start to lose my balance, I had draw up the energy, and could see the orb hovering in front of my face, waiting for me to give it a small push with my mind, which would send it flying towards the blue and red dragon.

I could really feel the shaking, and could see the loose gravel on the ground moving. Frantic, I almost yelled aloud for it to go. Obeying my mental command, it sped towards the dragon, and hit before he even tried to react. Upon touching his skin, it exploded, and thousands of tiny ice crystals flew out, digging into his skin and tearing through his wings. After they had all either hit him or the ground, I saw him, collapsed, with blood slowly seeping out of where the shards of ice had periced his skin.

He too was recalled by a beam of red light, and then another ball hit the ground shortly after, and released a four-foot tall, round, pinkish thing with short arms and legs. The fat-covered thing had a pouch on it's belly, with an egg inside. For some reason, I knew that I could not beat the ugly thing on my own. I felt the beam hit me, and the world turning red and getting skewed before I could see nothing at all.

I don't know how much time passed, but it seemed like right after I stopped seeing the world, it snapped back into view. A small green thing with a long, curved head, and wings floated a few feet above the ground, waiting for me. It's eyes glowed, and suddenly i was lifted up and thrown against the side of the arena by some invisible force. Quickly getting up, I charged up and launched an orb at the plant-fairy thing. Just like with the dragon, when the orb hit the being, it shattered, throwing sharp pieces of ice everywhere. I was far enough away that none of them hit me, but I couldn't see how much damage the attack inflicted against my foe.

I ran towards it while charging up another icy orb. It just stayed there, and closed it's eyes. I knew it wasn't asleep because it was still hovering, but it didn't matter. I released the orb, and it hit the thing again, and I managed to avoid the ice shards that flew towards me. By now I was able to see that more than half of the creature's green skin was now red. It opened it's eyes, and then allot of the wounds the ice needles inflicted closed, and the blood that had flowed out of them disappeared.

I launched another orb at it. This time, the shards that came out of it were twice as long as before. All of them flew in the direction of the creature, and right before they hit, I closed my eyes. After counting to three, which was the usual amount of time it takes for the current Pokémon to be recalled and the next one sent out,, I opened them. A small elephant-like creature stared at me from under a coat of armor. Well, it wasn't really small, in fact it was almost twice my size, but it was allot smaller than other elephants. Somehow, I knew that a bolt of lightning wouldn't hurt it, and that it would would take me out if it got to attack. Just as I started to think about blowing it away with an orb of ice, I realized that it would survive the attack.

I had one thing I could do and win. I used quickly bit my tong, and then spat the blood out. It melded with the dirt, and just like before, a small dinosaur-like golem arose. The elephant jumped up, curled into a ball, and slammed into the ground. It caused a small tremor, but it was powerful enough to hurt me, if I was on the ground when it hit. The dinosaur-like golem quickly picked me up and threw me vertically. As I went up, i looked down and saw it crumble under the effects of the earthquake. I skillfully landed on my feet, and then remembered something. I had a string around my neck. attached to that string was a small pouch. I quickly clawed at the string with my right paw. It easily broke, and I shredded the pouch. The object inside was pink, and spiky. I recognized it, it was a petaya berry, I had eaten them on many occasions when I was in trouble. I bent down and swallowed it with out chewing. Then i felt a power come over me.

By the time I had done all this, the elephant had recovered from it's mad attack on the ground. It was standing up, ready to jump up and repeat what it had done before. Before it could move, I charged and fired am orb, and after it exploded on the creature's skin and the ice flew everywhere, the creature lay on the ground, out cold. I smiled to myself, and waited for the next challenger to appear.

It never came. I looked to the side, at the wall. Then I looked up, and saw the people who were watching the battle standing up, their arms in the air, their mouths open. I knew I had won, and I was gleeful for the next minute, then I figured out what was wrong. I looked above the walls again, all the humans were standing up, clapping their hands together, with their mouths open, probably screaming congratulations, but I couldn't hear them. I tried to howl, but I don't know if I was able to, because I couldn't hear it. After winning the hardest battle of my life, I had lost my hearing.

Looking back on it, it probably started when the metal bird had fallen. That, coupled with the psychic attack of the plant had probably deafened me. As my worried trainer picked me up and petted me while whispering something that I could no longer hear, I cried my eyes out. Not only had I lost my hearing, I had also lost the ability to do what I did best: battle.

This is my first one-shot, and my first time writing in first person. It's odvious that I wasn't writing as myself(the Pokémon that this happened to isn't really Draconic Mage).

Well, was that, like, really bad, or, like, 'OMG YOU PWN", or "Meh...."?

Neither of them...it's like a hmmmmmmmmmm...interesting...
I see you again used netbattle as the base for this one shot, and I like it, especially how you described substitute...I was shocked by how he lost his hearing though...and the last line just gave me a feeling that I can't describe...

I cannot say that Im a big fan of your style or description. Its not that I think your fic is bad, its just that i dont like the way you described the attacks and pokemon or the way you wrote the story. Its not that its bad its just not my preference. I also found it kind of confusing because I cant recall all 386 pokemon at once so its hard for me to tell who a pokemon is entirely from his description

[counter rant]Well, for some odd reason, I got the urge to go and write something in first-person. And since I really stink at coming up with plots, my mind jumped to my other fic. On netbattle, there are three different 'people' that I could write in first-person from. The person sitting infront of the computer, the Pokémon trainer that the person infront of the computer is 'playing', and then the Pokémon who are battling.

The highest view would be pretty easy to write as, but wouldn't make a good fic. (I moved my mouse over to the 'hidden power' attack button, then left-clicked). The second level would make a good fic, but would be hard to write in. So I choose the third and final level, and wrote from there.

Well, sorry about some of the attacks. I don't know how the heck to describe hidden power. Also some of it is because I don't think that Pokémon would referr to other Pokémon by their speices name. Humans have a habit of generalizing, but I don't think Pokémon do. A pokemon referring to a Skarmory by 'Skarmory' would be like a person referring to a person from Afica as 'black'.
