I'll say the same thing I said when SM28 and SM29 were revealed. It's not fair to dismiss this episode as a boring filler when we have no information about this episode other than a title. Or just because it doesn't have some clickbait title like "Enter Olivia! Begin the Akala Island Trials!!" or something like that. SM has proven time and time again to be capable of blurring the line between filler and nonfiller, and often it's far too early to judge an episode. And even if it is a filler, who says it can't be entertaining?

I'm just as disappointed as a lot of you that the episode seemingly isn't about the Trials or something a little bit more plot relevant, but it is what it is. There's always the other two June episodes, and PokeFan is due out at the end of the month.

Considering that the Morelull line are known for draining the energy of their victims (their signature move Strength Sap), yes.

Ash is asleep, everyone else had their energy drained. We've only seen Lillie unaffected by the Morelull.

Maybe we'll have an Ash absent episode for once. Ash temporarily retires due to sickness and leaves Pikachu with the full main screen protagonist status. Pikachu with an Ash hat for me!

Unless Ash himself is also sick, and for some reason, Kukui is unable to take care of either of them (perhaps he is called away from home for the day). It's possible Kiawe, Mallow, Lana, and Sophocles are all busy, leaving Lillie as the only one available to watch over Pikachu. Despite her fear, she would probably rise to the challenge (just as she rose to the challenge of taking custody of Shiron's egg, despite her inability to touch it at the time).

Actually, the SM! figure is XY Ash with Greninja and Pikachu, I've seen it's base form online already.

Exactly.

What if Ash goes to Akala to learn about the Trials and, for some reason, decides to leave Pikachu behind? Then SM31 focuses on whatever Ash is doing on Akala, which is happening at the same time the events of this episode are happening?

That won't happen because I can't think of any reason for Ash to leave Pikachu behind, but it's fun to imagine.

Actually as far as I know it hasn't been confirmed that the SM Ash figure will just be Ash and Pikachu, sure they will both be in it, but as far as I know it hasn't been confirmed if their will be another pokemon in the figure or if it will just be Ash and Pikachu.

Why does it matter when we get there when the anime is guaranteed to get there eventually? If you're so concerned about Ash's journey, appreciate it over the destination.

There is no rush, there is no filler. SM's pacing is fine and I'll be the first to say I'm glad we're not going to Akala yet. Some of you need a hobby.

To be fair, Ash's emotional connection with his friends is the same regardless of the amount of time, he just ditches them at the end with no remorse anyway.
