The curtain rises for the "Masters Tournament", the greatest tournament in all history and the one that's going to determine the absolute best of the best at Pokémon battling, and Satoshi and Go have gone to Shoot City in the Galar region where the playoffs will take place! There, Satoshi encounters Dande's younger brother Hop, and a battle suddenly starts between the two! Afterward, Go and the others decide to watch the matches with Hop!

Satoshi, who has been selected as one of the "Masters Eight", the top 8 Trainers, has gone to Shoot Stadium where the playoffs will take place! And now the first match of the first round, a battle between Dande and Alan, is about to begin with Satoshi watching.

Nice! Imo, this is going to be a straightforward tournament. No roundrobin shenanigans or 'losers-brackets'.

This will be the reunions and opening ceremony and likely showing off the first match-ups. No battles yet.

Ash's battle will be a single episode, the other three quarterfinals will be bunched into two other episodes. The semi's can be full battles over two and one episode and the final will likely be 3 episodes.

Meaning a league with a length of 10 episodes including this one.

Same, I hope for them to at least be there (though never interrupt battles!) for little 30 second light relief moments to balance the action. I always loved their league arcs!

Pretty much every league except Alola has skipped battles that Ash or his rivals aren't involved in. Skipping every non-Ash or Leon battle would be par for the course.

Greninja gets obliterated by Blast Burn again and another of Ash"s Pokemon takes the W instead against Mega Charizard X (or also an L).

Pretty much every league except Alola has skipped battles that Ash or his rivals aren't involved in. Skipping every non-Ash or Leon battle would be par for the course.

That’s because every league except for Alola was compromised of a lot of no-name characters.

The reason we saw every battle to some extent in the Alola league was do to the top 16 being composed of all named and previously established characters.

The fact that the Masters 8 is comprised of previously established named characters and there are only characters means there is a good chance that we could see every battle to some extent.
