• Hi all
Just a notice, we recently discovered that someone got into a moderator account and started hard deleting a load of key and legacy threads...around 150 threads have been lost dating back to 2007 and some weeks ago so we can't roll the forums back.
Luckily no personal data could be accessed by this moderator, and we've altered the permissions so hard deleting isn't possible in the future
Sorry for any inconvenience with this and sorry for any lost posts.

As far as I know, there hasn't been a thread for this so..

Jurassic Park is my favorite franchise of all time. The two books written by Micheal Crichton are completely epic and amazing, and the movies are the same. This thread is to talk about Jurassic Park.

At the moment, there is a new video game in the making that's about Jurassic Park. It's being created by TellTale. There is always the infamous Jurassic Park 4 that still has yet to be made. Last time it was talked about officially was in 2009. Joe Johnston, director of Jurassic Park ///, said that he would start working on it after he finishes the new movie of Captain America. Unfortunately, he's said that before but with other movies, so I have doubts.

Let's not forget the rides at Universal Studios. While the ones in Hollywood, Florida, and Japan are the same, they do share a bit differences thus making it hard to determine which version is the best. I mean, Hollywood's has the movie props, the original dinosaur roars, and the famous John Williams orchestra being played in almost every single scene of the ride, Florida's version is a bit longer and has better atmosphere, and while Japan's version is a mirror version of Florida's, it's said to have the best animatronics. Singapore's version is a completely different ride as instead of boats, we get rafts. Of course, it did lack one of the popular dinos in the series, which is the Brachiosaurus. Though they all share the same finale as you end up falling down to a plunge and get wet at the end. I'm still not happy about Jurassic Park 3 for what they did with the T-Rex.

Come on now.

As stated, the movie continues to languish in development hell. There's nothing about which to squeal "I must see it!" at this point in time or for the forseeable future.

why did you quote me? i said I have doubts. I very well know it's been in development hell since JP3. At one time, they were actually in production for JP4 but some of it's plot was leaked onto the internet and everyone hated the idea; Dinosaur/human hybrid. Becuase they realized no one liked the story, they stopped and practically gave up. They tried to do it again by making a new script but they never finished becuase by that time, JP wasn't as popular so it ended up in development hell ever since. That last time it was mentioned by Johnston was in 2009. That's all i was saying.

JP4 I believe will happen at one time, either that or a remake. They probably won't make one soon, but I think they will eventually.

@Dattebayo- I know very little people who like the Spinosaurus in JP3. It was the biggest mistake in the entire series. When watching the movie for the first time, I had hoped another T-Rex would take revenge and kill the Spinosaurus.

1) I did not know there was even talk of JP4.
2) I liked the spinosaurus.
3) The proposed script of human/dinosaur hybrid would have been stupid.

To elaborate on the spinosaurus, I liked it because if you watched the in depth making of stuff on the dvd for JP3. They talked about how it was a new discovery and they always incorporated the newest information they had about dinosaurs into the movies. IE the raptors with feathers and speech.

Me neither.

When I was really young I enjoyed the franchise but I haven't watched one of the movies in years. I didn't even know that there were books about it either. The concept of dinosaurs living in modern times doesn't really interest me anymore though so I'll probably keep my memories of Jurassic Park as memories and not watch a movie since I'm no longer interested.

Oh, u mad bro?
Attempting to find the first Jurassic Park on DVD (if it ever was punt on DVD) pretty much the only one I really liked. it was really a masterpiece when it first came out. One of my Top 5 Movies.

I did not like the Spinosaurus. Why would a creature that predominantly ate fish bother itself with endlessly hunting a few humans? And Tyrannosaurus should have won that fight, it was very likely more physically powerful than Spinosaurus even though it was smaller.

And what was with the Pteranodon? My God.

I also did not like the family subplot. The film might have been salvageable without it.

Oh it was on dvd. Look for the boxset you can get all three for less than 20 dollars. I got it for that price like 8 years ago.

As i posted above you really gotta look at the making of and see all the facts about the spinosaurus. It was a far superior dinosaur in size and strength, not to mention truly functioning front arms.

I don't understand why people always attempt to analyze the Spinosaurus vs. T-Rex fight. "Spinosaur was bigger!" "Tyrannosaurus is stronger!" It was a passing the torch moment that introduced the Spinosaur as the new bad guy. Nothing more, nothing less. Honestly, my only problem with it is that the Spinosaur doesn't really do anything the Rex didn't. He's nothing new. I'd have preferred a longer fight between that monster and the T-Rex at the climax of the movie. Would've been a lot more entertaining than what I got with JP3.

On that note, the only way I would support a Jurassic Park IV is if there were a full-scale invasion of the mainland by the dinosaurs. Otherwise it should stay in development hell, because there's almost nothing else (from my admittedly limited view, anyway) that can be done with this franchise.

And the original Jurassic Park is still one of my favorite movies ever. Is it one of the best movies? No. The final product is mostly watered down from the vastly superior novel. Is it a lot of fun? Hell yes. The visuals still hold up well today and the final scene with the T-Rex is one of my favorite film sequences ever.

I've seen all three Jurassic Park movies. They're really good; nice plots, good acting, and the effects make the dinosaurs look real.

I simply loved the book. The sequel "The Lost World) wasn't bad either but I preferred the 1st one. The first movie was great too. Not as good as the book of course. I thought the 2nd one wasn't bad either but the 3rd one was just a disaster. Okay, the animations were okay, but that was it. There wasn't really a story aside from trying to escape from the island and running away from a Spinosaurus (why the heck does it chases a bunch of tiny humans?) and oversized Deinonychus (so they can't miss 2 eggs from their nests?).

Errr, no, only in size. It's not the first time the makers of Jurassic Park got something wrong (like making the Dilophosaurus tiny, or oversize a Deinonychus and give it the name "Velociraptor" because it sounds cooler. They supersized those so called "raptors" before the Utahraptor, which had that size, was even discovered so they had no excuse)

Good point, I need to watch the third one again to refresh my memory of why everyone does not like it so much.

I usually try to avoid the Rex and Spino fight, it always ends badly. Joe Johnston received death threats becuase he made the Spino win.
death threats. I don't know how anyone could be that upset over something so little. I agree, another fight at the end would have been awesome.

There is a problem with dinosaurs in the mainland though. How would there be a massive dinosaur invasion onto the mainland? In The Lost World, the T-Rex already went on the mainland and InGen tried to remake a park, so that story is already taken. I really have a hard time thinking of a story like that without it being like a B-movie, which the directors of JP tried to avoid.
