I dont know if this has been discussed before, but if it has mods please close this.

In the BF i have faced enemies that have the focus band, and there luck lets them stay alive with 1 hp constantly for like 3 turns (lucky ai) anyway with the move explosion can you use explosion and the focus band will keep you alive? If so that is cool, and that means you can use explosion twice, can anyone confirm this or tell me if it works? Thanks.

Back I guess??
This never happened to me (also I never tried) but I think this won´t work, the attack says: Faints the user while dealing an intense damage (or something like that).

I think that Self-destruct and Memento both have the word "Faint" in the attack sumary.

Thanks for the quick replie volt i think my question is answered, i dont think it will work, unless someone else can prove it does.

I´ll mix records with myself using my 6 Lv 100 gardevoir (which knows just memento) holding Focus band, if in 4 days battling they don´t survive with one HP, I think it´s enough for us to know (or too risky).

you can't do that the focus band only acatoinally lets you not faint
it ether will or wil not work and like if some body used explosion and then the other pokemon used hail would nock it out or sand storm if the pokemon is not rock, ground, steel or parcially ground or special ability

I tested it, 20 times with my exploding koffing against random pokes in the route 117 grass. it doesn't work. the main problem is that the exploding poke's HP goes straight to 0, without passing 1 on the way, so it doesn't get a chance to stop.

Cameron mathena´s post remind me something, Hail/sandstorm takes your HP based on percentages (8%), based on that I guess that Explosion, memento, Self-destruct takes 100% of your total HP. While Focus band protects you from base damage attacks.

6.25%, or 1/16

there's only a difference if you're dealing with things that have at least 400 HP, though.

Oh yes, my memory is weak those days (most of the times it is)... well, I am not believing on my memory now, but I think that I saw in smogon (when they had everything about attacks) hail dealt more than sandstorm.

well, it´s already answered so we don´t have nothing more to discuss here because off-topicness is bad...

It doen't work for sure, because Focus band can only sometimes keep you alive when the opponent dierctly attacks your pokemon.

Volteon is right, three of those moves let the user faint, so there is no use of testing it.
And by the way its also written in the summary that it lets the user faint.
